POPSHollywood film Vampire Wars: Who's the Best Evil (Yet Hot) Vampire? "And you’re what, shocked and disappointed? I’m evil." —Spike Vampire Wars continues! As we explained earlier this week, we've decided that, structurally speaking, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries are all the same show. Girl meets soft-hearted vampire, girl enters bizarre world of the occult, girl gets mixed up in some stuff, girl hooks up with hard-bodied other vampire, wackiness (and bloody good scandal) ensues. But which of those wicked, supersexy vamps is the best? It’s time to decide who’s the best evil (yet hot) TV series vampire, and you have to make the nearly impossible choice between James Marsters‘ bitingly funny Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alex Skarsgård’s Viking vampire Eric Northman on True Blood, and Ian Somerhalder’s devilish Damon on The Vampire Diaries. So…who do you love? Tell us in the poll below!

POPSLawmakers seek ban on laptops in airliner cockpits This is the mentality of legislators. They approach this isolated situation as if it were a quickly escalating ‘problem’ that must be addressed immediately instead of leaving it to the airline to tighten their own rules of conduct for pilots. Legislators love to jump on stuff like this because it has the appearance, to us lowly tax payers, that they are coming to our rescue to protet us from the evil use of laptops in cockpits. And it makes them feel good about themselves that they are doing something useful. More legislation! More rules! More laws! More oversight! Yeah, that will make us all be more responsible.

POPSSome Great Free Wallpaper/Screensavers For Halloween (Or Inspiration)
I don't know about you, but I love Halloween! I also love anything free on the Internet. When it comes to wallpapers/screensavers for your monitor, Halloween is, hands-down, the best holiday for decorating up your monitor with fun, scary, artistic images. One site that I just found this week is http://wallcoo.net, which claims to have over 50,000 free wallpapers/screensavers, many of which are categorized by holiday. The first 3 clips below are some thumbnail Halloween examples. So far, I have found the quality of the images to be very good, so check it out. My favorite source for freebies on the Internet, however, has to be Smashing Magazine. This site consistently delivers the some of the best free stuff the Internet has to offer the web designer and bloggers, especially if you are a beginner or amateur. I clipped the last two clips below from a Smashing Magazine article at http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/05/15/more-really-stunning-desktop-wallpapers/. The last

POPSThe 5 Creepiest Urban Legends (That Happen to be True) It makes sense if you think about it. The closet and under the bed are the two most popular places to hide just about anything, so it's not surprising a hell of a lot of corpses end up there as well. In fact, the odds are pretty good that at least once a guy has killed a prostitute, tried to stuff her under the bed, only to find there was already a body there.

POPSA funny thing happened on the way to the cancer clinic... More: Being able to laugh in the face of cancer lets you continue to own yourself, as hard as that might be, rather than ceding ownership to the disease. A good laugh reminds you that you are not your cancer.… I know that sometimes laughter seems impossible. After my cancer diagnosis I plunged into a bleak funk. And these days I’m struggling with a post-treatment depression that leaves my days swaddled in wearying grays. But no matter how remorseless the gloom, we humans tend to have our antennae for humor out. We’re the animal that wants to laugh, wants to unlock itself through a chuckle and a chortle. And laughter lets us cope, even in awkward moments.

POPSU.S. Fails To Make Top 10 Quality of Life Index Sure, it's easy to claim a higher quality of life when you live in a place like France, where you get 30 days of paid vacation every year. Never mind that their productivity numbers nearly equal ours. Where's the index for rugged individualism and personal responsibility? How good do ya think them Frenchies would do on that, huh? They just don't have the stuff to accept a shorter life expectancy and crappy health care. (The lifespan for African-Americans in the former French city of New Orleans is about the same as that of people living in North Korea.) But, hey, they're not who we mean when we talk about Americans, anyway. I don't want your damn pinko health care. And keep your hands off my gun. Oh, and, U.S. outta the U.N., dammit!

POPSSharePoint Designer 2010: Workflow Features The Workflow Designer itself will improve, and offer a more visually intuitive interface. I haven’t seen the designer myself, but I suspect that you will have a workflow designer integrated into SPD more like a page editor is today, as opposed to the dialog box wizard of SPD 2007.
