Socratoad
by Socratoad  7-18-2008    2
Stafford's records of "I'll Walk Alone," "I'll Be Seeing You," "I Don't Want to Walk Without You" and other sentimental songs struck the hearts of servicemen far from home in both World War II and the Korean War. They awarded her the title of "GI Jo."

by pokkets  6-23-2008    2
Now he's probably working on a new routine with Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce. He was Honest, and hit some nerves that needed hitting. Sometimes the truth hurts, until you work out it's generally the same for everyone else. We're all in this together warts and all. Too many people wont talk about the Elephant in the living room. (but they're all worried that the elephant might want to use the bathroom.) George liked to tickle the elephant

Energy Consumption Increased Al Gore’s "Green" Home In Past Year
merrie
by merrie  6-18-2008
After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul. “Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.” In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore won an Oscar, a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

i have a confession....we have a little get together each year and watch this... Italy has not participated in the contest since 1997 because of the lack of interest from RAI and from the Italians themselves...picture 1958 - Domenico Modugno and Nel blu, dipinto di blu (Volare) - in the US, where it has become commonly known as Volare, and got two Grammy Awards. It is one of few Eurovision songs that has reached #1 at the US singles charts. At the 50th anniversary show "Congratulations" in 2005, it was elected the 2nd best Eurovision entry ever.

by FrederickBrown  4-18-2008
Sarah Vaughan was an exceptional singer known by the nicknames”Sassy” and the “Divine One. Vaughan was repeatedly voted the top female vocalist by Down Beat and Metronome jazz magazines between 1947 and 1952. In 1982 her album Gershwin Live! won a Grammy Award. Vaughan received the distinguish Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award one year prior to her passing in 1989 and was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame in 1990. The Sarah Vaughan portrait he painted is striking and would make a great addition to a collector of Sarah Vaughan memorabilia
