The Opinuary Column: Freedom isn't Free (or Alive)
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-6-2009
It fought its addiction to Crystal Meth (Cheaper Than Coke But Still Not Free) and Tobacco (the first carton for soldiers was Free, but after that, not so much) with grit and determination, which it had in buckets (buckets that were Free but had to be returned when it was done with them). In the weeks before its death, the Opinion was often observed meditating on a litany of uncomfortable realizations: it had discovered that its apartment wasn't Free, its bar tab wasn't Free, its groceries weren't Free and, having failed to appear in court on misdemeanor charges, it suffered the additonal ignominy of facing the fact that indeed, not even its DUI was Free ($250.00 just to post bail!). Its only words to the judge were these: "In the bastardized yet immortal phrasings of Kris Kristofferson: Freedom's just another word for something that isn't free..." Family of the deceased Opinion are asking that, in lieu of flowers (which aren't free) that each and every one of us do our part to d

Dr.'s Diary Reveals Anna Nicole Make-Out Session
opu1537
by opu1537  11-3-2009
A California Medical Board investigator testified Wednesday that a 2007 search of the home of former Anna Nicole Smith physician Sandeep Kapoor turned up a journal in which the doctor wrote, "I was making out with Anna, my patient, blurring the lines. I gave her Methadone, Valium. Can she ruin me?" If what he wrote in his diary was true, so much for that whole "How dare you, I'm gay!" excuse. Kapoor and psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, who along with Howard K. Stern are facing charges of facilitating Smith's drug habit, have both been accused of having inappropriate contact with their patient. The date of the entry corresponds with an L.A. gay pride parade which Kapoor attended with Anna.

Down Under Bigotry
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  11-3-2009
At first I thought this must be a parody piece but then I read that it was written by the vice-chancellor of the Australian Catholic University. A simple substitution of just about any minority in the place of atheists reveals the blatant prejudice and bigotry shown by this fine Christian.

Proper and timely dinner is also very essential for one’s health and there should a distance of at least two to three hours in between dinner and going to bed. This is also advised by medical consultants too. If a family has any proper time with small interval this result in healthy and active baby which later on be a good and successful citizen. The purpose and resultant of this entire column and discussion is that proper Time management is very much necessary and vital for a successful and healthy family.

Delta Airzound Bike Horn
Lexica
by Lexica  11-2-2009
More, from the comments: Easily the most useful gadget I've ever bought for my bike. Commuting to and from school in NYC, it sees daily use, especially since a good number of pedestrians cross against the light, or in the middle of the street without looking for whats coming first, and a lot of drivers have a bad habit of checking their mirrors after they've already started turning. Also extremely effective at clearing pigeons on the road, which aren't always afraid of people. The only problem that I've had with it is that in dusty conditions, dirt can find its way inside and prevent the diaphragm from vibrating properly, which is most likely the problem that Narwhal was having. But this is why the cover over the diaphragm can be unscrewed and the dirt cleaned out. I usually have to do that after about a month of normal use.
