POPSMore on Cindy McCain This article is almost more telling about John McCain than it is about Cindy - he didn't notice that his wife was addicted to drugs, he's been absent at the hardest times of her life, and then she goes out one day and adopts a baby all on her own and just walks in the door saying, "Hi honey, look what I bought today!" ? If all of this doesn't SCREAM marriage of convenience, I don't know what does. Cindy's father wanted a political pawn to advance his business interests, she wanted to be First Lady, and Johnny wanted to be Prez...

POPSThe business of Flash games This is as much a test for clip-to-blog as anything. :) Recently I was impressed with a Flash game called toppling Totem, or something. I've not been following the rise of Flash games too closely, but I was surprised to look at the list of devs on this site and see people able to make Flash games on the side and publish them on a polished independent site. Guess they've bloomed while I was looking the other way. ;) Like everything else tho' the economic wheels keep turning and it sounds like a saturated market in which it's difficult to succeed. The potential not merely for revenue but as a platform to forge one's skills as a designer is attractive tho'. How do you get started?

POPSCheap Labor By Jim Small Senator, "...Harper also said the state should cut the amount it spends on overtime for corrections officers in the state prisons. In the current budget, the Department of Corrections was allotted more than $24 million for overtime pay due to a shortage of officers. To achieve savings in the prisons without diminishing public safety, Harper proposed deploying the National Guard to state prisons and having soldiers replace corrections officers. The soldiers, he said, don't earn overtime pay. He said they could work 72 hours a week as prison guards - 12-hour shifts, seven days a week - and save the state millions of dollars. I find it unbelievable that people like Senator Harper only see the military as their labor pool!!!
