POPSMcCain Health Policy Advisor: There Are No Uninsured Americans! Voila! Problem solved! Just don't count them. Ignore them. Screw them. Voila! Unbelievable. Emergency room care is NOT health care. These people really are heartless, because they can't be so stupid as to not understand that preventative medicine is not only cheaper, it also saves, lengthens, and improves lives. So they just must be heartless. I don't know what else to call them. Unless I depart from polite discourse.

POPSSuch a sad story--arrests made. I cannot imagine the grief being experienced by those around this couple....but maybe this arrest will be a first step towards catching the heartless killers.

POPSAmerican Calcutta - The Living Dead of San Francisco You don't have to look far to see the results and effects of liberal government. Take New Orleans. Ponder the hoards of disgusting homeless in California, and particularly San Francisco. We need a new CCC to put these people into camps, teach them trades, and put them to work on our crumbling infrastructure. Homelessness isn't a phenomenon of poor economic times, it's a direct result of democrats' addicting people to handouts which removes hope and self motivation.

POPSExcerpt From Fiat Money Inflation in France So much for the poorer people. Typical of those esteemed wealthy may be mentioned a manufacturer of hardware who, having retired from business in 1790 with 321,000 livres , found his property in 1796 worth 14,000 francs. For this general distress arising from the development and collapse of "fiat" money in France, there was, indeed, one exception. In Paris and a few of the other great cities, men like Tallien, of the heartless, debauched, luxurious, speculator, contractor and stock-gambler class, had risen above the ruins of the multitudes of smaller fortunes. Tallien, one of the worst demagogue "reformers," and a certain number of men like him, had been skillful enough to become millionaires, while their dupes, who had clamored for issues of paper money, had become paupers. The luxury and extravagance of the currency gamblers and their families form one of the most significant features in any picture of the social condition of that period.

POPSGreat! Sewage Plant Might be Renamed after President Bush His name shouldn't go on schools because he is dumb. It shouldn't go on hospitals because he's heartless. It shouldn't go on anything associated with peace because he's a warmonger. It shouldn't go on bridges and construction projects because of Katrina. But putting Bush's name on where we send all the shit sounds fitting, as if he would find it like home.

POPSMcCain's Miserable Record on Hurricane Katrina More: He voted against allowing up to 52 weeks of unemployment benefits to people affected by the hurricane, and in 2006 voted against appropriating $109 billion in supplemental emergency funding, including $28 billion for hurricane relief. Shortly after the disaster in New Orleans, McCain did introduce a bill that sought to improve communications mechanisms for first-responders and authorities. The bill failed to go anywhere, and McCain later voted against other bills that had similar provisions. McCain may talk sympathetically about New Orleans' recovery this week, but the record shows that when it mattered most, McCain failed to act.

POPSThompson Isn't Much of a Tease I don't really consider Thompson's comments a "tease" when he claims that the country has to stop the Democrats who are cringing to turn the U.S. into a welfare state. I am the one who cringes whenever these heartless right-wingers explain how they believe helping the less fortunate as being somehow traitorous to the nation. I am not an avid Hillary supporter, but give me someone who cares about ALL Americans, and he or she will get my vote.

POPSPakistan in Turmoil Ironic that now the US is cast in the light of supporting a heartless dictator threatened by an opponent who champions democracy. Not the first time we've been on the wrong side of things.

POPSConservatives Are Such Jokers
MORE: On Wednesday, President Bush vetoed legislation that would have expanded S-chip, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, providing health insurance to an estimated 3.8 million children who would otherwise lack coverage. In anticipation of the veto, William Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard, had this to say: “First of all, whenever I hear anything described as a heartless assault on our children, I tend to think it’s a good idea. I’m happy that the president’s willing to do something bad for the kids.” Heh-heh-heh. Most conservatives are more careful than Mr. Kristol. They try to preserve the appearance that they really do care about those less fortunate than themselves. But the truth is that they aren’t bothered by the fact that almost nine million children in America lack health insurance. They don’t think it’s a problem. HERE'S A REALLY SAD STATEMENT FROM OUR PRESIDENT! “I mean, people have access to health care in America,” said Mr. Bush in July. “Af

POPSTwo Kinds of Terrorism: Mark Twain Mark Twain commenting on the French Revolution. One kind of terror grabs our attention and makes the news. The other doesn't make the headlines, the slow and constant terror that goes on around us.

POPSEither George W. Bush is a psychopath or he does an excellent imitation of one at least three of the following criteria • failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors • deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, or conning others for profit or pleasure • impulsivity or failure to plan ahead (believing that Iraqis would welcome a foreign invasion, destroying the environment for short-term gain). • aggressiveness as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults • reckless disregard for the safety of others • consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to honor financial obligations • lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another (too many examples to list!).
