Potential Article title: The Land-Pain Threshold... At a point in time where individuals are screaming that there is no debt available for land... and their is exesss equity on the sidelines, there has to be a threshold by which we tend to decide to jump back in... We can look at the "Misery" index... and correlate that index with the cost of land... and the index of homebuilders... and get to a number that is overly complicated... bottom line. Find the deals

Welcome To Unemployed Loans
aadityaparkar
by aadityaparkar  6-14-2008
Loans to unemployed people often carry an artificially high rate of interest. Because there is a short-term loans, is charged with a high degree of interest is not a rarity. A further push for the interest rate of unemployment is given by the borrower, and the resulting risk. By following the standard selection procedures and to base decisions on rational principles, borrowers will ensure that loans to unemployed successfully accomplish its purpose of providing financial support during unemployment.

War Funding Bill Jettisons Immigrant Labor Work Permits
merrie
by merrie  5-20-2008    1
The bill before the Senate would add more than $28 billion to Bush's budget request for this year and next, with almost $50 billion more after those two years for a big expansion of veterans benefits under the GI Bill from 2010-2018. Reid faces enormous procedural headaches in getting the war funding bill - and its various add-ons - passed this week. Democrats have divided the war funding bill into two components: non-war add-ons and Iraq funding-policy restrictions. Reid has signaled he wants the non-war extras to get a vote before the war funding itself, but it's a high-wire strategy. The new GI Bill and Democratic priorities like extending unemployment benefits are among the big-ticket add-ons, both of which have drawn veto threats. There's also $50 million to track down child predators, $400 million to help rural schools and $350 million to fight Western wildfires, just for starters.

Arizona Illegal Alien Laws Produce Far-Ranging Rewards
merrie
by merrie  5-17-2008    1
Although Arizona’s Democrat Governor Janet Napolitano has vetoed most illegal immigration bills since 2002 when she entered office, Arizonans have bypassed her by sending initiatives directly to the ballot. In 2004, voters passed four illegal immigration measures with over 70% yes margins. A law targeting drophouses was signed into law earlier this month. An even stricter employer sanctions measure is currently underway to be on the ballot this fall. Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas are leading the local law enforcement efforts in Arizona against illegal immigration. Arizona is also home to State Representative Russell Pearce, who is responsible for spearheading possibly more laws against illegal immigration than any other state representative in the country. It is also home to Chris Simcox, President of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps.

Battle Of the Proxy Incumbents
merrie
by merrie  5-11-2008
Fiction can be fun! Ultimately though, this fanciful bit of twaddle is unlikely to stick, what with McCain's voting record so thoroughly refuting it. And in a lot of ways, that's too bad. If only we could look back at McCain's votes and comments on the wildly effective investment income tax cuts and find a man who embraced pro-growth fiscal policy as eagerly as Bush, we might be better assured of the continuity of certain beneficial policies that Obama so laments.

The Fed Must Strengthen The Dollar
merrie
by merrie  4-30-2008
Since 1948, inflation has averaged 3.7% per year, unemployment 5.6%, and real GDP growth 3.4%. But the 10 lowest inflation years (between 1949-62, and 1986) averaged 0.5% inflation and 5.2% unemployment, along with 3.5% GDP growth. And the 10 high inflation years (between 1973-81, 1969, and 1990) averaged 9.1% in consumer price increases, along with 6.2% unemployment and 2.6% in growth. In other words, low inflation was often associated with lower unemployment and stronger GDP growth than high-inflation years. More strikingly, the years following the 10 lowest inflation years were even better in terms of performance (averaging 5.1% unemployment and 4.4% growth), and the years following the high inflation years were even worse (7% unemployment and 1.4% GDP growth). This record shows the importance of sound money, fostering an environment allowing the key growth drivers of entrepreneurship and capital investment to flourish under stable long-run expectations.

Getting Better, Not Bitter, In Pennsylvania
merrie
by merrie  4-21-2008
The picture painted by the data is far less bleak than the candidates would have us believe. Indeed, the data show widespread, steady progress and rising standards of living. You would never know that from the debate. Perhaps it's not the picture that a candidate focused on "change" needs to show. Individual voters don't need a picture to know how they are doing. The vast majority are living the good life. They know they have more and better cars and bigger TVs than their parents. They have cell phones and computers, better health care, and access to high-quality fresh food year-round.

How Progressivism Killed Detroit
willhelm
by willhelm  4-1-2008
"Public-sector unions protect the dismal status quo. Detroit high schools graduate just a third of their students, according to an estimate by Michigan State University. But when a philanthropist offered to spend $200 million to create 15 new charter high schools, teachers staged a walk-out. Mayor Kilpatrick spurned the offer. These failing schools throw kids with no skills into a struggling economy in an environment characterized by social breakdown."

Some economic predictions for the coming months
willhelm
by willhelm  3-9-2008    1
 6) China's stock market will collapse next year. China will go into a recession. There will be huge amounts of violence 7) Multiple banks will probably go insolvent. They are holding too much crap paper. There will be an extreme tightening of consumer debt of all kinds, including consumer loans, credit cards and mortgages (this is already beginning, but you ain't seen nothing yet). Even people with good credit will start having difficulty getting loans. 8) Protectionism is going to get stronger. Even if Clinton, a free trader, is put in power, by the time the 2010 Congressional elections are over no "free trade" bill will be able to pass Congress and in fact actual tariffs are likely to be put in place. 9) I wouldn't be surprised, at some point, to see capital controls put in place to stop money-flight from the US. 10) When the full extent of how bad things are hits Joe Public, expect a move for reregulation of Wall Street and to reinstitute something similiar to Glass-Steaga

A lot has been said about India's robust economic growth with economists predicting a bright future for the country. But few know of the booming Indian cities that are adding to the nation's growth. So which are the country's fastest growing cities? Surat with its low unemployment rates, high job rates and one of the highest per capita small business credit is the top destination for jobs and business. It is said that if you want to make money, Surat is the place to be in.

The Lord told me to clip this. :) The Rapture Index (omens portending the Rapture) stands at 163, the highest it's been since September 11, 2001 when it peaked at its all-time high of 182. I don't know what the numbers mean either. But I'm not making this up. Anyway, I'm not worried about 'the Rapture' one little bit... Jesus , he knows me. ;)

Searching for Foreclosures
1WickedAngel
by 1WickedAngel  12-28-2007
Hearing the word "foreclosure" can be super scary, especially to recent homeowners like myself. This has been such a hot topic recently ... it's kind of crazy! But with all the buzz around the topic, you cannot ignore the fact that they are out there. Quote taken from article by Allie on AOL Dec 20th 2007 --------------------------------------------------------------- I clipped this comment because I thought it was interesting. Although this comment singles out the Arabs I want to make it known that it's not just Arab investors, its also European and Asian investors that are slowly taking hold of this country and our economy.

WHO: Ireland the safest country in Europe
righthand
by righthand  7-16-2007    3
In Estonia, it is 8.85 per 100,000, while Lithuania has 8.9 and Latvia 10.37. A senior lecturer in University College Cork, said the WHO figures proved the Irish justice system had been working effectively without the proposed reforms. "These figures show the due process model of justice we've operated for over 100 years has operated effectively and there is a proper balance," Mr Kilcommins added.
