POPS Coming Soon: Geert Wilder's "Fitna II"
Somewhere in the course of next week, the man whose party is currently leading in the polls in the Netherlands, he will go to Florida for a fundraiser for his new project. It will be interesting to see whether Fitna II will receive as much attention as the first one. It seems likely it will not: it is difficult to re-create a controversy. On the other hand, Dutch law - yes, there are those restrictions again (before he releases the film, I suggest we get rid of those restrictions altogether - allows one to criticize religion, yes, but it ‘protects’ groups from being insulted. If immigrants feel insulted by Fitna II, they could very well push the Justice Department to bring charges against the controversial politician. You also have to wonder how the infamous ‘youths’ will take a direct attack at them and their parents - who are immigrants from Muslim countries after all. These ‘youths’ are not exactly famous for their moderate reaction to things they do not like.
