"They found that when otters were abundant, eagle prey consisted of predominantly kelp-forest fish and sea otter pups. When the otters were rare, however, the proportion of marine birds in the eagles' diet was much higher. "

POPSPlanting Seeds of Disaster
In one of the first book-length scholarly studies of ACORN, Organizing Urban America, Rutgers University political scientist Heidi Swarts describes this group, so dear to Barack Obama, as “oppositional outlaws.” ACORN’s Inside Strategy Yet ACORN’s entirely deserved reputation for militance is balanced by its less-well-known “inside strategy.” The untold story of ACORN’s central role in the financial meltdown is about the one-two punch to the banking system administered by this outside/inside strategy. Critics of the notion that CRA had a major impact on the subprime crisis ask how a law passed in 1977 could have caused a crisis in 2008? The answer has a lot to do with ACORN — and the critical years of 1990-1995. Banks merger or expansion plans were rarely held up under CRA until the late 1980s, when ACORN perfected its technique of filing CRA complaints in tandem with the sort of intimidation tactics perfected by that original “community organizer” ,Saul Alinsky.

POPSMcCain and Palin Can No Longer Be Excused That’s right – evil. Not just wrong. Not just bad. Not just politics. Exploiting otherwise decent people and using their fears, pain and frustration to unleash them on others with different names or different skin colors or different religious beliefs is evil. That’s not what American politicians do. That’s what Adolf Hitler did. And he did it when people were afraid and angry and losing their jobs and their life savings.

POPSSherriff Stops Evictions in Home Foreclosures
Although this may almost sound like "non-news," to some, it is incredibly dramatic, not so dramatic as parts of the French Army joining the rebels in the French Revolution nor so dramatid as the Russian Army joining the revolutionaries against the Czar during WWI --- but it is an "officer of the law," saying he's not going to obey the law to evict people from their homes -- during this economic crisis where now home foreclosures have tripled from just two years ago. The rather dramatic headline, though, is misleading (even though I like dramatic headlines like this myself.) In fact, while the sheriff's actions are not so dramatic (in a way)...but his real actions are far more clever: He is Slowing Down Evictions. This way, #1, he won't get fired. #2 his extra demands for documentation and total paperwork requirements could give folks at least a half-a-year before police would actually show up at their door. Smart. And protects true innocents: renters of homes being forclos

POPSHow to recession-proof your family EXACTLY! 'Why does Suze Orman say people first, then money, then things?'" she says. "It means if we cared about people more than we cared about money, we would not be having what happened today, because the people who run the corporations, if they had cared about all of you, they wouldn't have created loans that you couldn't afford."

POPSWhy no outrage over foreclosures? Why do we automatically assume the buyers are at fault? Did they risk other peoples' money? Did they know we were in a housing bubble? Was it explained that the ARM would default if their home value declined? Why do we let professional sales-people make money leading people into the largest purchase in their lives without issuing precautions that first-time homebuyers often do not understand? And why is the homebuyer the loser, rather than the shyster that sold them a loan they could not possibly have understood? Why do we let them take our homes away?

POPSMcCain pushes $300 billion mortgage plan I def. think he is Fracking high on something. First, this "plan" would piss off a lot of people who bought houses they could afford and would then watch others who bought houses they could not afford (granted given bad advice/loans) and have taxpayers bail them out so they can stay in homes they really should not be in, in the first place. If there had been oversight in the govt and better regulation, none of these people would be in the situation they are in because it would have been a crime for these douche bag mortgage brokers and others to pitch them and give them the loans. So now this guy wants to take another $300 billion on top of the almost trillion the tax payers have already put into this mess. What a fracking idiot.

POPSThe bottom in housing - Fueling demand Looks like July was indeed the bottom, and demand is increasing in all regions for homes. This will take a good six months to begin the process of reducing inventories so prices can begin to recover. If you are thinking of buying, do so now at the bottom, you won't want to miss it.

POPSDistrict Judge Orders Release Of Uighur Jihadists In D.C. By Friday
This is the very nightmare scenario I warned about. The courts' steps are outrageous, but predictable and inevitable. A lot of the blame here, however, goes to the administration and the military. They have long taken the position that radical Islamic ideology is not the problem, and that we need only worry about actively those taking up arms against the United States. They don't want us to talk about jihad — the better to keep us in the dark about jihadist ideology. Thus, the government rationalizes, the Uighurs are not a threat to us, only to the Chinese. That was all the daylight the judges need to say: OK, then release them in the U.S., since no other country — except China, where they'd be persecuted — will take them. The government's self-defeating argument is preposterous. Jihadists — and there is not question that the Uighurs are jihadists — do not recognize distinctions based on the Westphalia world of nation-states.

POPS"Welfare State Mentality" at the bottom of our financial woes! He who is ever desiring wealth goes running after money, and does not see that need will come on him. Prov 28:22 (BBE) Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. Prov 13:11 (ESV) If you work hard for it you will appreciate the fruits of your labor more so then if it is simply handed to you without the toil and the sweat.

POPSA strong condemnation based on voting record "We face a perfect financial storm,” Kucinich warned. “The elements are the deficit spending for the war of 3 to 4 trillion dollars, the trillion and more tax cuts, the war itself and the lack of serious investment in the country. We are being hollowed out. We are going to see more unemployment and more people losing their homes. With $700 billion we could have made a real investment in the country, in jobs, in infrastructure and in homes. Instead, we got robbed.”

POPSThe real Americans It seems her #1 job is to continue the illusion that the ultimate elitist party, the party of CEO and wall street fat cats is really the party of average America disparagingly cast as Joe and Jane six pack, too ignorant and uneducated to notice the phoniness. Ignore the 100000000 bank account, 10 homes and 13 cars, McCain represents the working American. What a crock of sh**!!
