POPSPrivate schools and special ed this is puzzling to me also. In my state, homeschools are considered private schools, and so if the school district has an obligation to bring services to us in the case of special education...how come so many of us have to PAY for those services and then go to another school to get them? not that I would necessarily want them to bring their services to us.. Homeschooling is an ideal environment for special education, and I don't think that as many homeschooled kids will require it from another source.

POPSSubway Bans Homeschooled Kids from Essay Contest More evidence of the anti-homeschooling movement in America. I have 4 friends who have committed their lives to the public education system. They are worn-out and completely discouraged. The "system" failed them and our kids. Take back your children's education....homeschool.

POPS"No right to educate your own child?" If I had it to do over again, I would definitely homeschool. However, the resources were not so readily available as they are now. Homeschool my grandchildren??....absolutely! They are being indoctrinated, not educated. When save the planet, global warming, recycling, etc...is what I hear when they walk home with me...well, forget it! They are so smart and eager to learn. Reading, writing and arithmetic...add a little musical training, science, compute introduction, etc... But they can't keep it to the basic. The NEA has their agenda, but it is not that of many American parents.

POPSThe effect and goal of progressive bias in education Bruce Walker: "The Nazis also warned parents that children who went to religious schools would be discriminated against in employment." "What happened in the 1930s in Nazi Germany, however, was preceded by what happened in Oregon in 1922. The Ku Klux Klan supported and passed the Compulsory Education Law which required that parents send their children to public schools and not private schools. The avowed purpose of this law was to get children "while their minds are plastic" and to turn the child into "a true American." "Many on the Left today see public education as primarily a mechanism to mold children into people who will better fit into the vision that these Leftists have for America. Those tinkerers should know what good company they keep: they are following in the footsteps of Nazi Germany and of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Educational monoculture is an invitation to tyranny."

POPSAgainst Law to Homeschool Well once again the government of the people by the people and for the people seems to be giving it to the people. I do not know how the public education system got so out of control in this country but I think it is about time we the people started to take back control of the things that matter in our society, starting with the education of our children.

POPSSchool Attendance and Crime Rates Read much more at the source(s). Those of us who home-school will not be surprised at the findings, but many some people who are sitting on the fence will be enlightened.

POPSHair Too Short? Boy Suspended From School For Haircut! My boys always get this haircut. It's easier than overpaying someone twelve bucks (per kid) to "style it" when it's gonna get nappy and unmanageable soon afterwards. Another reason to homeschool: pick your own hairstyle... Stupid, just stupid.

POPSShould I homeschool? This article has already been clipped by someone else, I can't remember who. Frankly, I reclipped it to show that it has got a massive conservative bent. I think there probably are a couple of good reasons to homeschool, individualizing attention on students is fantastc. However, the homeschooling mentions here reinforces negative 50s era family styles where the woman, even though she's doing the educating, has everything second guessed by the father. It enforces patriotism which can be dangerous and ugly. Then there's the religious craziness you can force on people. I also liked how children both "enjoy the innocence of childhood longer" and "acquire 'adult' mentality" earl on. And finally, you're not supposed to be friends with your parents. They're supposed to be your parents. You can be friendly with your parents but it shouldn't be a friendship. It's different.
