I like these pairs which flesh out, clarify, detail, what it means to worship, and how things can be alluring. Each growth group, in incorporating worship, can figure out which idols are relevant to their realm, and how the gospel of forgiveness speaks to them.

Selfishness is the exact opposite of love. The fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. When you allow the works of the flesh—adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, heresies, envyings, drunkenness—to dominate your life, you are subject to the kingdom of darkness. On the other hand, when you stay in the circle of love ~ God, you stay in a place of protection from the attacks of the enemy. Living a selfish life will stop the anointing of God from working in us. All sin is selfish. It is impossible to be “in sin” without also being focused on our own needs and desires. Think about it. When you do something that goes against the Word of God, you’re not thinking about how others will be affected. You certainly aren’t thinking about how God feels about your actions, at least not enough to stop engaging in the activity. Sin is based on the platform of self-exaltati

POPSPhelps...the family that spews hate Since the mid-1990s, Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) has spelled out its core message in neon-rainbow picket signs that read, “God Hate Fags.” In a series of outrageous stunts, members of WBC have disrupted the funerals of servicemen killed in Iraq for supporting a “Fag-loving” country, protested a memorial for victims of the 2006 Sago mine disaster claiming it was God’s punishment on the US for tolerating homosexuality, and picketed the University of Wisconsin, where three students had recently died in a house fire, claiming the parents were to blame for “teaching them to be whores and bastards.”
