POPSKeep the government out of the news business
Turning to Washington for help to save the declining news business says much about the mentality of mainstream journalism leaders, an attitude that we and the government are on the same side. This is the mentality that led to the news establishment’s acceptance of the Iraq War. Go to the clip to learn what happened to Mother Jones after becoming a tax exempt non-profit after it reported on lobbying in Washington. Once you allow the government or private corporation to have any controlling link to the media you lose independence. Editors become fearful of criticizing the hand that feeds it. Publishers and benefactors become cozy and unbiased reports become fewer and fewer. Journalism becomes a de facto advertisement for consumer products. We hope in the future we’ll see more I.F. Stones, more guerrilla warriors on the Web, in print and on the air. Because of them—and not because of a government handout—great reporting will survive, as it always has.

POPSHey Buddy! Got Some Spare Change? A Billion? OK, so it's a dream that I see the head of DOD standing at Pennsylvania Avenue - Gates - asking people walking by for spare change to fund the wars, buying and building weapons, feathering his nest for retirement. And I say: "Sorry, I only have fare for a bus ride to Kabul and back - maybe later. Say, didn't you used to be famous? Why don't you get a job? I say. He get angry and starts yelling, "I only asked ya for a billion! Everyone has a billion!" It was embarrassing - there was some white spit on his chin.

POPS222nd Anniversary of the Signing of Our Constitution at the Philadelphia (Constitution) Convention in 1787
Like many of you, I have devoted much of my life to ensure that the legacy of liberty, "endowed by our Creator" and codified by our Founders in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, is sustained in our day, and preserved for our posterity. "Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. ... Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives." "John Adams Unfortunately, the current Democrat hegemony does not share our love for this great nation, this greatest experiment in human history, and is bent on terminating the last vestiges of our constitutional Rule of Law, replacing it with their "enlightened" version of rule of men. "Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues and ending tyrants." "Alexander Hamilton

POPSDan Brown's new book: George Washington a traitor more: "Brown's novels are renowned for introducing sensational claims. These involve 'facts' suggesting that something which generations of people have taken for granted, is actually untrue. He weaves some real facts among the highly controversial stuff and has a good guys and bad guys race against the clock to decipher the clues. At the end of the day, it's simply a piece of formulaic fiction." Maybe so, but with six weeks to go and millions of copies of The Lost Symbol already printed in anticipation of another blockbuster, Freemasons in the US have been accusing Doubleday, Brown's publishers, of cranking up the controversy and deliberately leaking details of the plot. Masons are worried enough to be setting up a website recruiting teams of "experts" to carry out a page by page analysis as soon as the book hits the shelves.

POPSThe scope – and dangers – of GE's control of NBC and MSNBC More: In 2006, The Boston Globe reported: "General Electric Co. spent $21.5 million last year trying to influence the US government, the most of any corporation, as total lobbying costs rose even as Congress began looking at ways to rein in such activities." GE's relationship with the U.S. Government is a vital aspect of its business: "Federal contracts for General Electric, based in Fairfield, Conn., rose to $3.8 billion during the two years ending Sept. 30, 2004, the last period for which figures are available." In June of this year, in an article headlined "General Electric is Once Again the Lobbying Champion," The Washington Times reported: "General Electric spent more on lobbying in this year's first quarter than any other company, newly filed federal lobbying reports show. The company shelled out $7.2 million for lobbyists in April, May, and June--that's $160,000 each day Congress was in session."

POPSOne Marine's Letter-Perfect Constitutional Instruction Explained to the People in Congress!
Curtman cited interior National Guardsmen who were ordered to take weapons from citizens of the New Orleans area in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as an example of orders that defy the Constitution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y98HxYbsdBM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Ffranklincountypatriots.org%2F&feature=player_embedded "If I did what some of our elected officials have ordered done, I'd spend my life in Leavenworth (prison)... My allegiance doesn't lie with any party," Curtman said. "My allegiance lies with the Constitution because that's where my freedoms lie." If you haven’t seen it yet, you can also watch the July 4th Tea Party videos here. http://franklincountypatriots.org/videos/ Joshua Smith, dressed in 1700's era military clothing, told the audience that a true patriot is someone who is willing to stand up to government entities for what they know is right. He said without the infamous Boston Tea Party, the Constitution might not exist.

POPSCongressional Summer Recess: Have a Great Time Guys! The current salary for rank-and-file members of Congress is $174,000 per year. On average, over the last 9 years, they have met about 140 days a year. So far this congress has worked 23 days, out of a possible 46 days, or 50% of the time. Let's compare that to my work schedule. I get New Years Day off, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, a half day on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a half day on New Years Eve. I also get three sick days, and two weeks vacation. That's a total of twenty days off plus weekends, for a total of 120 days off a year. That means I work 68% of the year. Congress meets, on average 140 days a year, and is off 225 days. That means congress works 38% of the year. The average congressman makes $174,000 a year, that's $1,257.14 a day, $157.14 an hour (based on an 8 hour day). I make, well, significantly less than that. How much do you make? How hard do you work for it?
