Religion inundates our daily lives to the point that most people just accept it. Even for those who recognize discrepancies it is a challenge to see beyond indoctrination because religion is so interwoven into society. More often than not these people will conclude that the problem lies with themselves rather than what they've been told their whole lives. This is a very insidious aspect of religion. It can often be a challenge to question these dogmatic beliefs because religion is so widespread. Teaching critical thinking skills is a key component to allowing people to follow the evidence rather than being browbeat back into conformance.

Extreme Indoctrination
lisa-vg
by lisa-vg  10-30-2011    3
The vast majority of people have been neatly placed into two camps of collectivists who believe themselves to be opposites but in reality are both big government collectivists who squabble over a few issues and leave some of the most important issues completely alone as issues that are not allowed, issues beyond the bounds of civil discussion. If you pay attention you will see that the full fury and venom of the two brands of collectivism are directed at those outside the collectivist framework. These are the “right-wing extremists,” the conspiracy theorists, and the like. They are the receivers of epithets.

Why I am an atheist - Sara Mallory
Oortcloud
by Oortcloud  10-30-2011
Our societies are so inundated with religious indoctrination of all kinds that many people think believing in something is the natural thing. The default position. In fact, its just the opposite. We are born without belief and until someone tells us about religion we exist without belief in the super natural. Unfortunately for the vast majority of us that indoctrination occurs when we are far too young and gullible. Religion is an added layer of complexity to our lives, but because of the manner in which it is introduced and the widespread prevalence of it in our population few people attain a clarity to see reality without its taint.

Why I am not an Ignorant Loon!
willhelm
by willhelm  10-18-2011    9
We are all born ignorant. It's the default position. It's only after education, logic, and experience that the position changes. An ignroramus, after being given evidence and logic, will deny and blather incessantly. And will continue to vomit their ignorance in the face of decent, clear-thinking individuals who actually have an education. The difference in a person like that and an intellectually equipped person is that they fail to grasp that the acceptance of ANY proposition is backed by perspective, logic, plausibility, and evidence that anyone can examine and challenge. The difference between that and science is that science ends at CERTAINTY. Oops, I think I just heard the Theory of Relativity is out the window. It's good to know that the enlightened can move past the default position.

Why I am an Atheist - Janet Goelzer
Oortcloud
by Oortcloud  10-15-2011    24
We are all born atheists. It's the default position. It's only after indoctrination and subjugation when that position changes. That isn't such a terrible thing in all situations. An ignorant (one lacking knowledge) might see the earth as flat from their vantage point, but after being taught that it is round they will change their understanding. The difference between something like that and religion is that accepting the earth is round is backed up by verifiable evidence that anyone can examine and replicate. Religion, on the other hand, relies on people to either accept it or have a personal need to accept it.

Public School Band Ralllies OccupyChicago Protesters
jatfla
by jatfla  10-14-2011
Un-Believable!!! Or maybe not given our current cultural bent from the Liberalistic indoctrination of our public schools for the last 30 yrs. Legitimize these fools and the decline will continue. Don't these *protesters* work? Oh, my bad; they are college students with gov't grants and paid employees of political action groups or the unions. I guarantee you that if that Band had been at a Tea Party rally playing "God Bless America" they'd be in deep doo-doo.

Who Is The Manchurian Candidate?
lisa-vg
by lisa-vg  10-5-2011    7
What many people don’t know is that the science of mind control has grown exponentially. The Democratic Party and Republican Party, along with their Presidential candidates are controlled by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). What the American people get is the choice of voting for CFR Candidate A or CFR Candidate B, while being given the illusion of choice. Presidential candidates are often selected at a young age. They are selected, groomed, and introduced to “handlers, “that guide and shape them. The Soviet Union developed extremely subtle, but effective forms of brainwashing such as collectivism and communitarianism. Fact is that the entire American population has been programmed for decades through pyschopolitics in a mass Manchurian Candidate operation. With such a massive psychological attacks, what can we do to launch a counter attack and preserve our freedoms? Who is the Manchurian Candidate?

Global Movement Seeks to Convert People From ‘Democracy…and Capitalism to Islamic Ideology’
merrie
by merrie  10-2-2011    1
Behind its public face, Hizbut is built along Marxist-Leninst lines with secretive cells as key building blocks. Nawab says “students” may go through up to five years of arduous training and indoctrination to prove their commitment and become members. Some 60 percent don’t make the grade. Hizbut members have been imprisoned in Russia, Central Asian nations and elsewhere, but some experts say the broad definition of terrorism in these countries – rather than any acts committed – landed many of them in jail, and sometimes before execution squads. Ed Husain, who described his time as a British member in the 2007 book “The Islamist,“ said that globally the movement is ”strong, robust, growing.” “I still believe that the message and ideology of Hizbut Tahrir is as potent as ever,” he said in an interview. “Their antidemocratic, anti-West, anti-Israel and anti-Muslim governments stance remains firm.

Bertrand Russell - The Impact of Science on Society (1951)
lisa-vg
by lisa-vg  9-15-2011    1
I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is mass psychology. The influence of home is obstructive . Second, that not much can be done unless indoctrination begins before the age of ten . The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions were generated. When the technique has been perfected, every government that has been in charge of education for a generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies or policemen. It is to be expected that advances in physiology and psychology will give governments much more control over individual mentality than they now have even in totalitarian countries . This subject will make great strides when it is taken up by scientists under a scientific dictatorship. The Impact of Science on Society (1951)

9 Ways Groups Become Cults
GoldenHeart19
by GoldenHeart19  8-12-2011
The line between religions and cults can be a blurry one at times. Although some prefer to distinguish between cults and religions, there are some indisputable similarities. For example, both sometimes encourage donations from their followers and promote the sacrifice of food and other luxuries in the name of ritual observances. However, cults significantly differ in their belief systems, rituals and indoctrination. A religion that uses mind control techniques, deception and exploitation to teach its followers has strayed further away from a religion and is much closer to a cult. Here are 9 ways groups become cults:
