POPSObama Victory - Most Shown Headline Photo
I actually had to hunt for it (for a whole 7 minutes) on the Internet, but one TV news report showed the Headlines from newspapers around the country and this was the photo on most of them. Interesting. Good slide show on this page, including lots of the Main Man surrounded by flags and massive crowds and celebration on all sides. A lot of First Families have been somewhat stiff and scripted or set up for phony poses. But when Michelle led her children out onto the stage is was real: She wanted them to see and get a sense of who their Dad now was ('cause he's just a "Dad," to them) And when she smiled it was a real smile. And when she and Obama hugged it was a real hug and when she looked at him in some amazement and admiration it was real amazement and admiration. And the kids happiness with them and their love of the kids also real. It was wonderful to see. And that dress! -- sort of unusual but certainly not shy Now we'' be watching them for eight years. I hope

POPSWave Powered Boat to cross Pacific!!! when a big ship is raised a few feet by the ocean swell, think how much energy it takes to lift several thousand tonnes.. Now think of that same ship alongside a quay, and a lever extracting that same energy as it lowers the ship back down before the next swell.. Cmon you engineers!

POPSThe Truth about Wal-Mart, continued Since that long thread of differing opinions about the 'Merikan Dream and Wally world where I was attacked as being a non-productive, lazy Hippie (untrue--I was a semi-productive, Happy Hippie), I found this interesting, informative Anti-Wally site....see if you can defend these charges about Wally's relationship with Communist/monopoly Capitalist China and the US consumer rip=off, Willie, Esundby, and the rest of you bozos who think I was some non-productive lazy Hippie all my life.

POPSScience Never Stops :-) This is an entertaining and fairly level headed “what the future will bring” piece. It covers the promise and perils of a pretty diverse set of topics: nuclear power, space travel, power transmission, aviation, food production, urban growth, race relations and even (sort-of) outsourcing.

POPSHomeland Security Drug Checkpoints in US This is interesting as they seem to be used not just for catching illegal aliens, which even if that were the case. When did Home land Security become the INS? Is there a rise of Mexican terrorist in the US I am unaware of...
