That would be gay, and in its desperation to connect vegetarianism with priapistic heterosexuality, this site makes it very clear that vegetarianism is not for fags. In fact, there aren’t any other pictures of the Broccoli Boys…just their little bio sketches so we don’t miss the important point that they, unlike the Lettuce Ladies, are people. Any other treatment would, of course, violate Patriarchy’s First Law – you don’t treat guys like mindless dick-receptacles, because that’s what the ladies are for!

POPSHi! wanted desparately to clip these, but.. since yesterday, I am unable to clip anything properly at my end of the CM. A visit to the site and enjoy these sites is a must. I always read, enjoy, think of CM friends and clip... in that order :) After investing a couple of hours on reading/felt happy on these, I just couldn't clip any of them. Sorry on that score! Quite a few of these, we all have read already somewhere...but all of them together is really nice...

The huge fossil teeth of megalodon had been known for centuries and were once believed to be the fossilized tongues of dragons. Agassiz, noting that great white shark teeth and the fossil megalodon teeth were both serrated, lumped megalodon into the same genus, Carcharodon, (from the Greek karcharos, meaning sharp or jagged, and odous, meaning tooth). Agassiz was not, however, making an evolutionary judgment. In 1835, a young Charles Darwin was just then visiting the Galapagos Islands. There would be no theory of evolutionary descent for nearly 25 years. In fact, the brilliant Agassiz, who later became a professor at Harvard and the leading figure of natural history in the United States, forever resisted Darwin’s revolutionary ideas. Rejecting biological evolution, Agassiz defined species as a “thought of God.” His classification scheme signified nothing about shark origins. POPSArtist exposes his soul...and his mother's stuff This artist comes at his work from a very interesting place. I love readymades and in general, works that contain commercial products like the toothpaste tubes in the photo. The exhibit on the surface seems curious and somewhat whimsical like a Duchamp but from what the review says its far more intense. I'm looking forward to seeing it but at the same time I wonder if I will feel uncomfortable peering so deeply into his (and his mother's) life, soul, pain, etc...even though they've invited me to do so.

POPSBuddhist Neuropsychology: emotions and Awe Keltner is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and directs the Berkeley Social Interaction Laboratory. I haven't read this book but will aim to. The whole approach of Buddhist psychology and its accommodation with neuroscience is fascinating, a fascination shared by the Dalai Lama. Awe-inspiring stuff!

The penalty imposed for marrying outside the faith or to a convert is severe: excommunication. One wonders if this was a Christian community with similar traits, how it would be portrayed in the mainstream media, particularly upon such arrests.
