POPSCandJunki's Last Troll - Suicide Streamed live over internet This is an interesting Blog on this very sad event. I post this only in hoping it spawns awarness. People should read the entire commentary at the source. Do you think the people who watched and did nothing committed a crime? It looks as though CandyJunkie, Abraham Biggs, lay dead for as long as 4 hours before anyone notified the cops, 4 people called out of thousands. Many egged him on. He posted a suicide note too. I was taught in school that repeated threats only means people are more likely, not less. They also taught us what signs to look for. Giving away possessions etc. I wonder if they still teach these things and at what age do they start?

POPSShould We Curb Junk Food Ads? Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance chairman Ian Olver said the bill should include children's programs shown on pay television outside the 'C' and 'P' viewing times, and the internet. One in four children in Australia was obese, he said. Mr Segelov said Prof Olver was wrong. 'If you believe that the rate of obesity amongst children is 25 per cent I would eat this desk,' - Colin Segelov. The most recent government survey, taken last year, showed six per cent of children were obese and 17 per cent were overweight.

POPSIs Google Making Us Stupid? Thinking makes my head hurt! Carr, the author of the piece, illustrates his point using a scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey, where HAL, the supercomputer, begs Dave not to terminate him. Ironically, as I was reading the article, a car commercial came on TV, parodying that same scene to advertise its GPS. And I had only just seen the ending to 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time a few days ago--just that one scene--so I fully appreciated his point. Talk about deja vu! Or maybe I just imagined it all...

POPSObama Victory - Most Shown Headline Photo
I actually had to hunt for it (for a whole 7 minutes) on the Internet, but one TV news report showed the Headlines from newspapers around the country and this was the photo on most of them. Interesting. Good slide show on this page, including lots of the Main Man surrounded by flags and massive crowds and celebration on all sides. A lot of First Families have been somewhat stiff and scripted or set up for phony poses. But when Michelle led her children out onto the stage is was real: She wanted them to see and get a sense of who their Dad now was ('cause he's just a "Dad," to them) And when she smiled it was a real smile. And when she and Obama hugged it was a real hug and when she looked at him in some amazement and admiration it was real amazement and admiration. And the kids happiness with them and their love of the kids also real. It was wonderful to see. And that dress! -- sort of unusual but certainly not shy Now we'' be watching them for eight years. I hope
