POPSCongress OKs Bill to Improve Broadband Access Such an analysis might provide some insight as to why the U.S. -- the birthplace of the Internet -- lags behind other developed countries in broadband usage. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranks the U.S. 15th for broadband penetration. Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., who sponsored a similar bill that passed the House earlier this year, supported the legislation. "This initiative will help us ascertain whether the nation is achieving its broadband policy goals because, unfortunately, our current knowledge on the state of broadband deployment, speed and affordability in the U.S. is grossly and inexcusably lacking," Markey said.

POPSAmericans whinge about proposed Internet bandwidth cap For the first time ever, it seems American ISPs are thinking of implementing bandwidth caps to curtail Internet usage, and many are up in arms about it. But Comcast's mooted 250 Gig cap seems infinitely generous compared with Telkom's 3 Gig monthly maximum, and anything else one has to pay extra for.

POPSComcast to cap online use The cap will be set at 250gb. If you go over that, you get a courtesy call from Comcast as a first warning. The second time that you go over, your account will be immediately suspended for an entire calendar year. People that watch movies or video's online are going to be hit hard because you can go over your daily limit in minutes. And don't forget that companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and others are offering online (cloud) storage. Some applications such as Google's http://docs.google.com/ are online and would be completely inaccessible to small business's or home offices. Plus there are X-box, Playstation, Nintendo and many other consumer boxes that require the internet to access online games, calenders, address books, and even clocks.

POPSComcast Limiting Internet Use Comcast is the first to do the dirty deed. Instead of investments into newer and more internet infrastructure, they will stop and charge xtra for more usage. As technologies evolve more and more, your bandwidth hog today, is the average consumer tomorrow. They will not only limit internet usage, but more importantly, they will stifle newer and better technologies. Games and HDTV will use way more bandwidth than anything today. Comcast-CONCAST- really, is standing in the way of the future of the internet

POPSOn the way towards Personal Learning Environments: Seven crucial aspects The practice of learning and teaching is not pre-determined, but always related to the tools and systems used in the process.
