POPSThe spirits behind the writers >>Intoxication, if not the source of literary creation, creates a cerebral aura congenial to it. It recasts the glare of life in a softer hue. It soothes anxiety and other stultifiers of reflection. It warms the mind and thaws thoughts frozen in timidity. The fruit of the vine does not give us insight but aids our discovery of it; it can allow you to eavesdrop on yourself. The trick is to find the golden mean between exhilarating and dulling the intellect. Cratinus' belief that only bad verses were written without wine seems too appealing to be untrue. But the best verses no doubt arise when, the wine low in the bottle, Dionysus is still steady enough to dance to the tune of Apollo's lyre.<<

POPSTiger in zoo mauling taunted by her victims? This enrages me - the animals should definitely be protected from punks like these. We can't afford to lose any more tigers. I think the boys got what they deserved. If their friend that was killed wasn't taunting her, then his death is these brothers' fault as well. I've only been to zoos for school and work, and I always see boys & men taunting gorillas and the big cats. There should be guards on duty at these particular exhibits and guys like these should be ejected from the zoo immediately.

POPSTeenagers charged in "Mortal Kombat" tragedy Read the rest of the article, the writer makes some very good points. These kids were old enough to know better, any sane person can't place the blame on video games. the could have gotten the idea form any visual media. Movies, TV, etc. There was alchahol involved. If thye had have been watching a Van-Damm mvowie before hand the same outcome would ahve likely been reached. Stupid people make me mad. They just gave the anti-video game camp a hand of ACES in the media... Here's an idea.. take resposibility for your own fucking actions.. What about the parents here.. obviously these "kids" should not have been left in cahrge of a 7 year old...
