Docs Linking Iran to Nuclear Weapons Push May Be Fabricated
thisnamecantbetaken

After the IAEA received the copy of the letter without notes from Iran, some officials began pushing for an acknowledgment by the Agency that there were serious questions about the whether the laptop documents were fabricated, according to the Vienna-based source close to the IAEA. Suspicion has surrounded the “alleged studies” documents from the beginning, because the United States has refused to say who brought the collection to US intelligence four years ago.

A law breaker is a criminal. Iranian president is therefore an international criminal. How could the world trust a word from him?

Who's the Grave Threat, Obama?
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  7-9-2008    1
Although the IAEA and the CIA have declared that Iran has no nuclear weapons program, Obama called Iran a "grave threat" for firing 9 missiles during military exercises. One of the missiles has the capacity to reach Israel. Israel recently practiced a simulated bombing run on Iran's non-existent nuclear weapons facility, but no one in the USA government or running for president called Israel a "grave threat." Israeli officials have also been clear they intend to strike Iran if it doesn't give up its nuclear facilities. Yet Israel has nuclear weapons, ones obtained through illegal means according to international law. Undoubtedly, Iran was sending a message with its missile test. The message is "we will defend ourselves." How is that wrong when they have been threatened by Israel?

ElBaradei's New Brief, Same as His Old Brief The buzz circulating now is that IAEA Director Mohammed ElBaradei said on al-Arabiya that Iran could be months away from producing a nuclear weapon, as noted by AllahPundit at Hot Air and Jeff Stein at Congressional Quarterly. What's more, just about all analyses completely ignore Iran's pursuit of a plutonium -based weapon through external acquisition and production beyond Iran's borders and beneath the IAEA and Western international radar. Syria is only now entertaining the idea of limited and restricted IAEA inspections of the nuclear facility destroyed by Israel last September 6. This "only line of defense" claim comes from the same UN "nuclear watchdog" that has no enforcement mechanism and the same one that failed to detect and/or deter North Korea, India, and Pakistan from developing nuclear weapons. http://tank.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YTg2MjNmOTc1YTkzMGI4YjA1YWE0MTYyN2Q0YzNiMjc=

The Israeli "Dry Run"On Iran's Nuclear Facilities
merrie
by merrie  6-25-2008
Looks like there would be a side benefit from an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities: the blind, toothless UN atomic "watchdog" -- Mohamed El Baradei -- promised to resign if Iran is targeted. US officials reported on Friday that more than 100 Israeli F-16s and F-15s staged a complex operation over the Mediterranean during the first week of June. The aircraft traversed more than 900 miles, about the distance from Israel to Iran's Natanz nuclear enrichment facility; the exercise also tested the refueling of planes and helicopters tasked with rescuing downed pilots. El Baradei wasn't pleased. He warned that any attack on Iran would turn the entire Middle East "into a fireball." Russia's response: as Iran's preeminent nuclear technology supplier, Russia is concerned with its cash flow. It also warned Israel not to attack. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov instructed Israel not to use force, claiming there is no proof Iran is trying to acquire atomic weapons.

Israel Practising to Attack Iran's Nuclear Facilities
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  6-21-2008
The IAEA and the CIA have both determined that Iran's nuclear facilities are incapable of producing nuclear weapons. So why attack? It could be because Israel wants to find a pretext for Iran's support of Hezbollah. Those F15s and F16s are US planes, most which we "sell" to Israel on credit but later forgive their indebtedness. Nice arrangement most Americans don't know about, but people in the Middle East know about and never forget.

Diplomats Say UN Probe Of Iran Nukes A Failure
merrie
by merrie  5-21-2008
Ahmadinejad said last month that Iranian scientists were putting 6,000 new uranium enriching centrifuges into place, about twice the existing number, and testing a new type that works five times faster. But the diplomat who provided details on the report said it will say the rate of expansion has been much below that touted by Ahmadinejad. He and other diplomats close to the IAEA previously said Iran has exaggerated its progress and is having problems operating the 3,000 centrifuges already in place. Additionally, the diplomat speculated Tuesday that Iran might be holding back on a quick build-up of enrichment capabilities hoping it will be easier to come to terms with the U.S. administration that will succeed President Bush, known for his hard-line Iran policies. The commonly accepted figure for a nuclear enrichment program can be used as a platform for a full industrial-scale program that could churn out enough enriched material for dozens of nuclear warheads over time.

China Has Provided IAEA With Intel On Iran's Nuke Program
merrie
by merrie  4-3-2008
VIENNA, Austria — China, an opponent of harsh U.N. Security Council sanctions against Iran, has nonetheless recently provided the International Atomic Energy Agency with intelligence linked to Tehran's alleged attempts to make nuclear arms, diplomats have told The Associated Press. In a summary recently forwarded to the AP, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, an opposition group that claims to have informants inside the Iranian government, identified three others as Revolutionary Guard commander Fereydoon Abbasi, Seyed Jaber Safdari and Mohammed Mehdi Nejad-Nouri. It said the three and others are involved in clandestine nuclear weapons-related research at three Iranian universities: Beheshti; Malek Ahstar and Imam Hossein. Asked for verification, a senior diplomat of an IAEA member state said that a fact check run by his country's relevant agency showed the claims to be generally accurate. Another senior diplomat also said the information appeared to be fairly reliabl

On his watch, but undetected by his agency, Iran constructed its covert enrichment facilities and, according to the 2007 U.S. National nieIntelligence Estimate, engaged in covert nuclear-weapons design. India and Pakistan detonated nuclear devices. A.Q. Khan, the Pakistani nuclear godfather, exported nuclear technology around the world IAEA technical experts have complained anonymously to the press that the latest report on Iran was revamped to suit the director's political goals. In 2004, Mr. ElBaradei sought to purge mention of Iranian attempts to purchase beryllium metal, an important component in a nuclear charge, from IAEA documents. He also left unmentioned Tehran's refusal to grant IAEA inspectors access to the Parchin military complex, where satellite imagery showed a facility seemingly designed to test and produce nuclear weapon The IAEA director seems intent on undercutting Security Council diplomacy

Group Claims Iran Speeding Up Nuke Plans
merrie
by merrie  2-21-2008
The NCRI has at least twice given detailed information to the IAEA that IAEA inspectors later verified, including the original information that exposed Iran's uranium-enrichment program and the location of those facilities in 2002. On at least one other occasion, however, the IAEA was unable to verify information the NCRI provided. NCRI leaders said their latest effort to locate the alleged nuclear-warhead facility was triggered by the Dec. 3 release of a U.S. National Intelligence Estimate concluding that Iran halted its nuclear-weaponization efforts in 2003. The NCRI is eager to refute that finding. The report effectively ended speculation in Washington about a potential U.S. military strike against Iran to cripple its nuclear program. It also undercut U.S.-led efforts to pressure Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment program.

Bush: Out of Touch, and Out of his Mind
ouyangwulong
by ouyangwulong  1-14-2008    3
At a certain point I fail to understand what our President thinks he is doing. It would seem he is newly possessed with an urgent desire to invade Iran, regardless of the circumstances. Apparently, he doesn't understand the game he's playing. He's confirming America's stereotype as a global villain in they eyes of the rest of the world. Bush led the push to attack and isolate Iran because of their nuclear weapons program. When that allegation was firmly contradicted by our own intelligence community, he didn't miss a beat. He's going on as if the NIE never even came out, still talking about nuclear weapons as if nothing had changed. Now Iran agrees to answer questions and open up to the IAEA, as well as fulfilling other obligations to the UN. As they do, Bush keeps cheer leading for war. Doesn't he realize that he's impeaching what little credibility America has internationally?

Mullahs' Lies Verified by Intel Report

Aren't we exactly 0[where we were in 2004 on? It remains, as it was, that the intentions of the political-Islamist mullahs of Iran cannot be trusted to develop a nuclear program of ANY kind. It matters NOT whether there is known to be development related strictly to weapons. It seems to me that evidence of a direct path to weapons was a mystery then, as now, but that was not the #1 issue then, as it SHOULD NOT be now. The deal has been modulated away from the first hard line. That Iran can't be allowed to have free reign with uranium enrichment of any kind and it must cease. Whether or not there is a current active weapons specific program right now.

The NPR journalists who bitterly spit their angry, "I told you so" tinged bombs disguised as questions. The phony intelligentsia aloof in their deluded "knowledge" that the mullahs, these invaders of the Persians, are reformed or even have always been innocent of all accusations in spite of obvious evidence and widespread support of worldwide terrorism. The intellectual dishonesty is disturbing at the very least. Finally, ...The loudest brashest noisemakers concerning any attack on Iran has been from the left.

Matt Yglesias turns arguments for bombing Iran on their head. (he is parodying Normon Podhoretz, who has made the argument that the Iranian govt is much more crazy and fanatical than Stalin or Mao). Key religious leaders like John Hagee explicitly argue that the United States should attack Iran in order to hasten the coming of Armageddon, and Hagee gets not only a respectful hearing at the White House, but also works closely with AIPAC giving him important entrée with many Democrats. All of the incumbent faction's candidates from office have said they'd contemplate a nuclear first strike against Iran, media sources generally lambaste anyone who criticizes American moves to ratchet up conflict with Iran, and in general any responsible Iranian leaders needs to wonder if the USA is really a country that one can risk doing business with.

Russian officials yesterday called for patience, insisting Iran could still clinch a deal with the international community in the next few weeks. They pointed to other parts of the IAEA report showing Tehran had been cooperating with the agency's inspectors on other nuclear issues. "We are most concerned to prevent Iran being cornered so that they walk out of the Non Proliferation Treaty, and break relations with the IAEA," one Russian source said. He said Chinese officials were stepping up diplomatic pressure on Iran, with Moscow, to avert a collision. "They are on high alert that something has to be done quickly," the source said

Iran's Real Threat--Control of the International Bankers
blueridge
by blueridge  11-15-2007    1
Iran's real threat is to the "International Banksters". Yes, follow the money! Iran advocates a national central bank system which outlaws "usury", the corrupt interest for use of money decried by Christians like Martin Luther and Islamic law. Threatening the money system behind nations, threatens the banksters' power. The article continues: In Tragedy and Hope, Professor Carroll Quigley, ..wrote from personal knowledge of this group, which he called “the international bankers.” He said their aim was “nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole,” a system “to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements.”99 The key to the bankers' success was that they would control and manipulate the money systems of the world while letting them appear to be controlled by governments.[/quot
