You're Scaring Me, Obama: Let the Bush Years Die

And then there's Robert Gates, widely rumored to be staying on as your Defense Secretary. Questions about Gates' role in Iran-Contra, not to mention his skewing of intelligence about Russia, still linger. But especially disturbing is his recent push for beefing up the US nuclear arsenal: "As long as other nations have or seek nuclear weapons - and can potentially threaten us, our allies and friends - then we must have a deterrent capacity that makes it clear that challenging the United States in the nuclear arena, or with weapons of mass destruction, could result in an overwhelming, catastrophic response. While we're on the topic of warmongers in your midst. Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff? Yet another hawk, hell-bent on Iran and enamored with nuclear weapons. And now we've got Clinton as Secretary of State. Why is it that none of the 23 senators and 133 House Reps who voted against the war in Iraq are even on a short-list for these critical posts?

that in the event of blood actually being shed, all operations should be immediately terminated and forces extricated in the most humiliating way possible, with strategy to be determined by regular polling. However, that was the 1990s, and we also know that in the post-9/11 era, Clinton briefly grew a set and strongly favored invading the heck out of belligerents who had made her husband look like an ineffective skirt-chaser. It was only the prospect of being president herself that made Hillary turn into a peacenik, but we know from the Democratic primary that Hillary does not give up. She will gouge the eyeballs out of anyone who stands in her way. News reports indicate we are being increasingly quagmirized by a bunch of 19th-century dishcloth-wearing savages in the rocky passes of the Hindu Kush, with al-Qaeda thumbing its aquiline nose from across the border in Waziristan, and the mullahs of Iran insisting on becoming a world-class nuisance, not to mention the Putinistas

Split Over Russia Grows in Europe, Re: Missiles. Georgia

by citizenbfk  11-8-2008
Russia moving up missiles to their border with Poland (in response to the USA missile base being built there) is no joke. The Russians have also said they have re-targeted their nukes to aim at European cities. This is no joke. Russia is right, imo, and it won't backdown. It can't let a warmongering nation like the U.S. A. put a nuke missile base right on it's border. This is like the Cuban missile crisis of the 60's, except the shoe is on the other foot - and full-tilt nuclear war was threatened. Is anybody in Europe reading this news? What are they going to do? I think hundreds of thousands of their lives are in danger and don't hear much talk or anything be done about it? Obama won't do anything on his own. (long story) IMO, if the people in Europe don't stop this U.S. missile base nobody else will and they are in grave danger. The missile base in Poland, btw, -- for the real joke...the USA claims is to protect against nuke missiles from Iran That mak

Over 30 countries exporting arms to Sudan

According to UN report of 10-21-08. The embargo was imposed in 2004 and extended in 2005, requiring nations to "...take the necessary measures to prevent the sale or supply" to all the warring parties in Darfur. Since that time, Sudan, by its own reports, has acquired: * At least 45 new military aircraft, including combat aircraft, fighter jets and parts provided by Belarus and Russia. * More than $25 million worth of tanks and armored combat vehicles, which Sudan claims were provided by China, Switzerland, Iran, Germany, India and Syria. * A total of $29.5 million in small arms and light weapons (excluding ammunition and parts). * $600,000 worth of ammunition, though a range of countries report selling Sudan nearly $10 million in ammunition. * $270,000 worth of swords, cutlasses and bayonets, the same weapons reportedly used by the Janjaweed in attacks on civilians. Sudan's import figures and worldwide export figures "seriously underestimate the arms sal

This could be part of the problem. Obama, in his chats with nine world leaders, told SK President Lee the US-ROK relationship is a “cornerstone” of Asian stability. Good thing he noticed. Medvedev rounded on the United States for ills ranging from the global financial crisis to the recent war in Georgia, in a state-of-the-nation speech that was watched intently by his mentor Vladimir Putin, and omitted mentioning Obama by name. http://news.theage.com.au/world/russias-medvedev-hits-out-at-us-20081105-5ilq.html

He's learned so much from the Bushes and when juniors tactics were falling flat lets try something that worked so well for Daddy Bush. My Friends, I'm so sorry I had to go back on my promise but with the continuing presence in Iraq and the new war in Iran I had too. We tried to negotiate in good faith but the Iranians would not meet our precondition of accepting Israeli rule. Oil company profits are dropping because of unexpected expense of offshore drilling and the massive cleanup needed on the west coast, so the taxpayers will have to bail out the oil companies. Sorry my friends. On the positive side my friends in health care insurance industry are posting record profits. Sorry but sometimes Mavericks have to take a detour.

Bin Laden to be Conjured Up for Halloween/Election

Poof--October Surprise! The officials sound like they WANT bin Laden to speak and be heard don't they? Hey ABC!.. why not identify just who these "multiple government sources" are...why the secrecy? Could they be neocons within the Office of Special Plans that report to Dick Cheney and bypass the CIA (which closed their bin Laden unit), that wrote the blueprint for a "new middle east", including Iraq, Iran, Syria (for Israel) in Sept. 2000? I have been waiting for this, bin Laden is always conjured up to spook Americans (in perfect Pavlovian condition-response training) to switch the debate back to "terrorism", fear, and "national security", while the statistical real threat of terrorism is MICROSCOPIC. The neocon agenda must be continued. I guarantee ABC will have an exclusive with Brian Ross, quoting the neocon-linked private company SITE, who always provide Osama a national platform, whom a $1 Trillion Pentagon can never find, conveniently. It's a lie!

Obama And Frank: A Farwell To Arms
merrie
by merrie  10-28-2008    1
Caucus for Priorities is a campaign of Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is to “change U.S. budget priorities to reflect a national commitment to education, healthcare, energy independence, job training and deficit reduction — at no additional taxpayer expense — by eliminating funding for unneeded Cold War-era weapons systems.” That will certainly deter a rearming and expansionist Russia, an ambitious China and a dangerous Iran. If Obama wins, the “obsolete Cold War weapons” to be done away with, to Russian and Chinese glee, include the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the F/A-22 Raptor to replace our aging F-15s, the wings of which are literally falling off. The Raptor can fly to and from Iranian nuclear facilities undetected should the need arise, as it very well may at some point.

Video: Bush Might Bomb Iran if Obama Wins
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  10-26-2008
The idea here, some have suggested, is to suggest an anti-war appeal: If Obama is elected war with Iran will start. This incredible twisted suggestion is typical of other new McCain ideas, like he is the one really opposed to Bush policies although he voted for them 90% of the time. The twisted idea, too, that McCain's support for tax breaks for the SuperRich and Corporations is really to help out 'Joe the Plumber,' because the wealth will 'trickle down.' According to this twisted reasoning, McCain is the anti-war in Iran, anti-Bush policy guy, and pro-voice for the Middle and lower classes. ?? Other Republicans also just, seriously, going nuts: that McCain campaign worker who carved a B into her cheek (backwards) and tried to blame it on a "Black pro-Obama mugger." ?? Latest...some Republican arrested for making death threats against the Sec. of State of Ohio (who's in charge of elections) -- because she shut down a Republican attempt at voter suppression. ??

Obama's Foreign Policy Judgment
merrie
by merrie  10-23-2008
In October 2008, the Iranian government announced its own preconditions for one-on-one meetings with the Unites States: Pull all US troops out of the Middle East, and abandon support for “Zionist” Israel. These absurd demands further expose Obama’s very poor judgment vis-a-vis a regime that is actively aiding and abetting terrorists in Iraq who are killing US servicemen. Iran’s “preconditions” prove that negotiating with bad-faith actors who hate Americans and Jews would accomplish nothing other than handing their regime a PR coup. In recent months, Obama’s campaign has continually claimed that he didn’t actually make the promise that he did. The tape does not lie.

I would agree. I would guess whether Obama or McCain is in office there has already been ample planning of the national level. I would say the line-up looks like this: 1. Iran due to Israel 2. Russia 3. Syria 4. Yemen 5. China due to Taiwan Not in that order, but those all are potentials. I would rather Obama be in office to handle diplomatically rather then McCain who would be looking to send more troops into battle or possibly worse.

Sulieman Ameri and his 16 men were until a month ago serving the Afghan government as police patrolling the border with Iran.  But that only means it had outperformed nearly every single major foreign stock exchange, including Germany's XETRADAX (down 28%) China's Shanghai exchange (down 30%), Japan's NIKK225 (down 37%), Brazil's BOVESPA (down 41%) and Russia RTSI (down 61%). These contrasts are a useful demonstration that America's financial woes are nobody else's gain. On the other hand, global economic distress doesn't invariably work at cross-purposes with American interests. Hugo Chávez's nosedive toward bankruptcy begins when oil dips below $80 a barrel, the price where it hovers now. An identical logic, if perhaps at a different price, applies to the petrodictatorships in Moscow and Tehran, which already are heavily saddled with inflationary and investor-confidence concerns. Russia will also likely burn through its $550 billion in foreign-currency reserves faster than anticipated -- a pleasing if roundabout comeuppance for last summer's Georgian adventure.

"We The People" Have The Ingenuity & The Resources

WE HAVE THE POWER. Today, America is under assault from key oil producing states - some of which are radical regimes whose energy prices and policies are systematically undermining our economy, our national security, and the American way of life. We pay a hefty ransom - two billion dollars every day - to the likes of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Venezuela, among other foreign powers. Americans are sick and tired of our broken energy policy. WE HAVE THE POWER highlights America's need to adopt our World War II mentality of "Do it all, Do it now" by tapping into all of our abundant energy resources . We owe it to future generations to explore the vast amount of oil and gas in the Outer Continental Shelf, Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), as well as our other vital energy resources including Hydroelectric Power, Wind Power, Oil Shale, Natural Gas, Gas Hydrates, Hydrogen, BioFuels, Solar Power, Clean Coal and Nuclear Power.

I mean they are protesting the harsh economic times with oil prices slashed by 50% and hurting the economy which is geared to producing nukes. Now how about a full blockade on their ports?
