Valkyrie For War Czar
merrie
by merrie  11-14-2008    1
that in the event of blood actually being shed, all operations should be immediately terminated and forces extricated in the most humiliating way possible, with strategy to be determined by regular polling. However, that was the 1990s, and we also know that in the post-9/11 era, Clinton briefly grew a set and strongly favored invading the heck out of belligerents who had made her husband look like an ineffective skirt-chaser. It was only the prospect of being president herself that made Hillary turn into a peacenik, but we know from the Democratic primary that Hillary does not give up. She will gouge the eyeballs out of anyone who stands in her way. News reports indicate we are being increasingly quagmirized by a bunch of 19th-century dishcloth-wearing savages in the rocky passes of the Hindu Kush, with al-Qaeda thumbing its aquiline nose from across the border in Waziristan, and the mullahs of Iran insisting on becoming a world-class nuisance, not to mention the Putinistas

Ahmadinejad's Message to Obama, "Change" Please
blueridge
by blueridge  11-6-2008    1
Congratulates and calls for "change" toward policy of "non-interference" from one of hostile aggression threatening war with Iran and forbidding nuclear energy development. By "selfish minority" he appears to reference the neoconservatives and Israeli Lobby that have controlled war policy contrary (Iraq, et al) to what most Americans believe is right.

Iran to U.S.: Back Off, Stay Out of Airspace
blueridge

After all, even the ally Pakistan has said the same now to the U.S. to defend its sovereignty. It is no secret the neocons in the Pentagon want to provoke war (even force Obama's hand). Watch to see if Obama removes the neocons from the Pentagon and all advisory positions. If he does not it would say alot.

Obama And Frank: A Farwell To Arms
merrie
by merrie  10-28-2008    1
Caucus for Priorities is a campaign of Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is to “change U.S. budget priorities to reflect a national commitment to education, healthcare, energy independence, job training and deficit reduction — at no additional taxpayer expense — by eliminating funding for unneeded Cold War-era weapons systems.” That will certainly deter a rearming and expansionist Russia, an ambitious China and a dangerous Iran. If Obama wins, the “obsolete Cold War weapons” to be done away with, to Russian and Chinese glee, include the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the F/A-22 Raptor to replace our aging F-15s, the wings of which are literally falling off. The Raptor can fly to and from Iranian nuclear facilities undetected should the need arise, as it very well may at some point.

Obama's Foreign Policy Judgment
merrie
by merrie  10-23-2008
In October 2008, the Iranian government announced its own preconditions for one-on-one meetings with the Unites States: Pull all US troops out of the Middle East, and abandon support for “Zionist” Israel. These absurd demands further expose Obama’s very poor judgment vis-a-vis a regime that is actively aiding and abetting terrorists in Iraq who are killing US servicemen. Iran’s “preconditions” prove that negotiating with bad-faith actors who hate Americans and Jews would accomplish nothing other than handing their regime a PR coup. In recent months, Obama’s campaign has continually claimed that he didn’t actually make the promise that he did. The tape does not lie.

Oil price plunge hurting mullahs: Ahmadinejad suspends tax hike
pkronfield
by pkronfield  10-14-2008    4
Iranian merchants are revolting. Very funny. I don't mean their offensive odor. I mean they are protesting the harsh economic times with oil prices slashed by 50% and hurting the economy which is geared to producing nukes. Now how about a full blockade on their ports? No more an act of war than Iran providing explosively formed penetrators to their Iraqi stooges that have been killing our boys in harm's way.

The Known Unknowns
wtfologist
by wtfologist  10-12-2008    1
In February 2002, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld engaged in a bit of amateur philosophizing about the relationship between the known and the unknown: "There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns-the ones we don't know we don't know." For Rumsfeld, these "unknown unknowns" represent the greatest threats facing the United States. But Rumsfeld forgot to add the crucial fourth term: the unknown knowns, things we don't know that we know-which is precisely the Freudian unconscious, the "knowledge which doesn't know itself," as the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan used to say. In many ways, these unknown knowns, the disavowed beliefs and suppositions we are not even aware of adhering to, may pose an even greater threat. That is indeed the case with the reasons for this war. http://lacan.com/zizek-iraq2.htm

Mystery swirls around hijacked Iranian ship
tommy2balmy

Within days, pirates who had boarded the ship developed strange health complications, skin burns and loss of hair. Independent sources tell The Long War Journal that a number of pirates have also died. In a strange twist, the Iranian press claims that the U.S. has offered to pay a $7 million bribe to the pirates to "receive entry permission and search the vessel." Officials in the Pentagon and the Department of State approached for this story refused to comment on the situation.

Bush does not deserve credit for our security
deb2012
by deb2012  9-7-2008
continued from source.... by ANY government and has severely weakened the US dollar... leading to catastrophically high oil and commodity prices. US presence in the world has been diminished by the struggle in Iraq. Russia and Iran both see the US as a toothless tiger, and Russia basically proved it recently in Georgia.. Putin basically said (without saying it) , the US can't touch me.. they're in debt, their military is stretched thin, and I'm running the biggest oil producing country on the planet.. they wouldn't dare.. and he was right.. and Iran knows pretty much the same thing.. and this is a DIRECT result of the fiasco in Iraq. The Bush years have weakened the US while strengthening our most dangerous enemies.

Joe Biden, Friend of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
merrie
by merrie  8-25-2008    2
And the IRGC and its Quds Force were both designated “supporters of terrorism” in October 2007. Though the latter two designations would not have been so had Biden had his way. And most importantly – for the sake of sanctions and the unequivocal denial of any form of support to terrorists and terrorist supporters – the amendment said, “the United States should designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist organization … and place the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.” The text of the amendment included Congressional testimony from then-commander of Multi-National-Force Iraq Gen. David Petraeus, who said, “Iran, through the use of the Iranian Republican Guard Corps Quds Force, seeks to turn the Shiia militia extremists into a Hezbollah-like force to serve its interests and fight a proxy war against the Iraqi state and coalition forces in Iraq.”

Limited US attack on Iranian Revolutionary Guards Bases in Sight
sahara
by sahara  8-10-2008
Tehran would view a US attack on the IRGC bases as a casus belli and might react in ways and on a scale unanticipated in Washington. Two days ago, Iran’s defense minister Gen. Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar warned: “Iran’s Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter any military attack with any intensity and to make the enemy regret initiating any such incursions.” According to DEBKAfile’s Iranian and military sources, the IRGC had by mid-May completed their preparations for a US missile, air or commando assault on their command centers and bases in reprisal for Iranian intervention in Iraq. These preparations encompass al Qods’ arms, most of them undercover, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Sudan. At home, the Revolutionary Guards have evacuated their key bases together with manpower and equipment to regular army sites or temporary quarters in villages located in remote corners of eastern and northern Iran.

Followers believe he was born in the year 868 and has been in hiding ever since awaiting a decision from god to reappear. from Adnkronos International, August 8:

Seymour Hersh: Cheney considered killing Americans in pretext to attack Iran
tabsey

During the journalism conference event, I asked Hersh specifically about this meeting and if he could elaborate on what occurred. Hersh explained that, during the meeting in Cheney’s office, an idea was considered to dress up Navy Seals as Iranians, put them on fake Iranian speedboats, and shoot at them. This idea, intended to provoke an Iran war, was ultimately rejected.
