POPSTerrorism alive in Britain, are they still backed by the Yanks? In a disgraceful example of the immigrants knowledge of history, Shahid Malik MP for Dewsbury described the sacrifice of the British Forces in Ulster as an irrelevance. If there is any one of this immigrants constituents with an ounce of decency, or even Gordon Marsden who would not forward concerns to his colleague in this evil alliance called New Labour, just fetch his attention to this blog. http://rogue-gunner.blogspot.com/2008/08/soldier-sacrifice-of-british-army-in.html Now tell me it is irrelevant.

POPSPublic Ignorance and Democracy Such as the nature of liberalism, conservatism, materialism, idealism, etc. "Public ignorance is not confined to political information. Sixty-nine percent of the public believe, according to a recent survey, that price increases are mainly caused by companies manipulating the market to raise their profits. Less provocative, but just as indicative of ignorance of economic affairs, only about a third of all Americans know that the Fed sets monetary policy, or even that the consumer price index measures price inflation. It is little wonder, then, that incumbent politicians are able to take credit for good economic times—regardless of the success, failure, or irrelevance of their economic policies—and that presidents cursed with bad economies usually are booted from office, even if their policies have been sound."

POPSLack of Leadership @ MessNBC Leftist Professionalism = Oxymoron? I contend it IS possible, although by and large, the two don't arise mutually without some marked effort. But by placing less radical minds in charge who will deliberately allow their lefties to follow their political inclinations as a conscious alternative to FOX/RIGHT and CNN/CENTER , while constantly demanding professionalism and guiding them through all the predictable adolescent rebellion, pouting, and resistance to authority, The "Mess" can clean it up,take some pride in who they are and express their leftiness responsibly, not just in behavior. I believe it can be done. db.

POPSHope For the Future While the future of this election is still undecided, I catch a glimmer of hope by the irrelevance of race among young people. I've fought on the sidelines since the sixties for equality for all peoples and it seems a cultural shift is occurring. For a substantial segment of the population to be unconcerned about race is a collossal breakthrough in societal change. I think it was understood that this was a generational problem and would not vanish at the drop of a coin. Reality shows that racism is still rampant, particularly among less educated peoples however this election has demonstrated what I'd view as substantial progress in large scale shifts in the countries views. This pleases me beyond words.

POPSBlended Realities, Blended Lives As part of our continued research on human-futures interaction, we will take a people-centric approach. We will start with the human experience and ask questions about how we'll navigate a future where we have multiple personas, play games to solve serious problems, and how the interaction between individuals, groups, and machines is creating new kind of knowledge.

POPSThe passing of the Christian Right "Indeed, as President Bush's political star has waned, the Religious Right's legacy and its ability to positively impact the nation are increasingly being called into question. Critics contend that the evangelical movement has been largely reduced to political impotence and moral irrelevance."

POPSTrue Political Waffling: Belgian Civil War Averted! Thank goodness Belgium has been rescued from political obscurity and irrelevance! Is anyone impressed by the fact that Belgium just didn't need it's government for 6 months? Imagine if that had happened in America? We'd be looting Wallmart on day 3. (Although I, personally, would be looting Wallmart on day 0, because that's what I do on my spare time.) At any rate, waffle lovers (and I suppose swift boat veterans for truth) can now rest easy. The feud between Flanders and Wallonia, ostensibly over why Dr. Seuss was allowed to name their territories, can finally be laid to rest! Except for that they hate each other, and there's a ridiculous wealth gap, and they are both presumably frustrated by their own irrelevance.

POPS The "Old Grey Lady" Is Senile According to the NY Times website, Clark Hoyt is the Public Editor and the reader's representative for the paper. Not that it might do much good, but I would be tickled pink if many of the readers and posters here, and especially those in the Empire state, would make their voices heard. Perchance we may get an apology (not holding my breath). He can be found at: public@nytimes.com or (212) 556-7652

POPSDon't believe the surge hype "As the most astute journalists have observed, there are few sources, if any, for reliable data about Iraqi civilian deaths, whether at the hands of sectarian killers or ordinary criminals (or the police/militia forces that the United States has armed and trained). It requires truly extraordinary gullibility on the part of mainstream reporters to accept any such statistics from the Pentagon, whose leaders have misled us so badly about Iraq from the beginning. Where civilian casualties are concerned, it is worth recalling that the Pentagon and the Bush administration initially did not bother to count them -- or at least refused to release whatever counts they had compiled. Estimating the number of civilian dead and wounded was left to nongovernmental sources such as Iraq Body Count and the Lancet, the renowned British medical journal."

POPSIPCC report criticised as too optimistic A few irrelevance is accepted, since IPCC includes many processes such as collecting materials, researching on them, peer review and so on. But large one is unacceptable. Let me think on it... this means that climate is changing much faster and greater in terms of scale than the professionals have been thought, doesn't it? This is because the scientists probably had written papers, refering what they could get at the moment and assuming the future process of climate change from the materials. If this is true, climate science itself can be seen as useless.

POPSABC Hiring Glenn Beck Belies the Myth of the Liberal Media I keep hearing about the so-called Liberal Media, and yet conservative blow hards such as Glenn Beck continue to dominate the cable news channels. With people like Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, Ingram etc, it amazes me that there are still people out there who subscribe to the Liberal Media Myth.
