Americans Fail Civic Literacy Quiz
Rustee
by Rustee  Today 3:08 AM    2
Earning a college degree does little to increase knowledge of America’s history, key texts, and institutions. Only 24% of college graduates know the First Amendment prohibits establishing an official religion for the United States. Only 54% can correctly identify a basic description of the free enterprise system, in which all Americans participate. I felt bad for getting a B, but some of these results are just pathetic...not really too surprising though.

cahpamulang
by cahpamulang  11-10-2008
"31.01: Asli Jogja Tanpa Rekayasa"

I just updated to EndNote X2.0.1 build 3514 and was invited to create a free EndNote Web account. Free, or trial? I'll find out. I've been testing it and it's fantastic! I also installed the Firefox extension that lets you send references directly to EndNote Web with a click. Firefox 3 required a forced install. I'll do some testing after I restart.

Pakistan Turns On Their Taliban September 5, 2008
merrie
by merrie  9-12-2008
Because TTP groups have long been involved in criminal activities, they have developed ties with major gangsters in the region. These guys want to maintain some contacts with the Islamic radicals, just in case, and help out by sharing their smuggling and money laundering contacts in the Persian Gulf. So for the government to really hurt the TTP financially, they will have to go after the criminal infrastructure the Taliban is allied with. That won't happen, because the widespread corruption in Pakistan includes a lot of connections, and cooperation, between government officials and major gangsters. So "freezing bank accounts" may sound impressive, but means less than other measures, like roadblocks on the major roads linking TTP controlled areas with the outside world. This is something the government has been using more of late, and it leads to many battles. The Taliban will constantly attack the checkpoints, and truck drivers will attempt, to bribe their way past the troops.

Pashtuns suffered heavy casualties in the bombing campaign of 2001. They resent the recent Predator attacks that are resulting in civilian casualties. As a result, the $25 million reward on Osama’s head has failed to elicit cooperation leading to the capture of the Al Qaeda leader.

Bush Warns Pakistan, Threatens Action
blueridge
by blueridge  8-5-2008
After spending hundreds of millions of taxpayers money for aid to Pakistan for over 7 years, now this. After helping Musharref (via CIA) seize power through a coupe. After knowing the ISI help the Taliban (while still giving millions to Pakistan), now this. (Hint: there is no real threat from the Taliban, but they have to stick to the official story for invading Afghanistan and 9/11. The Taliban resists the US invasion of Afghanistan of course, and the Islamic Pakis and ISI of course resent that too but have been bribe with money thus far). Now the self appointed ruler of the world, who claims Afghanistan is US property, threatens retaliation into Pakistan, a sovereign country, should any groups support Taliban resistance in Afghanistan. Oh, and Obama support this plan too, because he is a member of the CFR and their global agenda too.

Bush Talks of Another 9/11, Points to Pakistan
blueridge
by blueridge  4-15-2008    1
Assigning blame to a particular country in advance is not only suspicious, but it suggests that a new war theatre is about to open. Ironically, the Pakistani ISI wired $100,000 to Mohammad Attah (one of the key patsies used for 9/11 blame, without evidence) just prior to 9/11. Who wants to wager if another "catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor" will happen before Bush leaves office and before the November elections? It would be too convenient, and benefit only the neocon war agenda. "Motive, means, opportunity" are the key considerations for determining who is behind an event. Israel and the neocons would benefit most and have more means and opportunity, and the ability to cast blame through well placed propagandists into the MSM--just as they benefited most from 9/11, to execute their blueprint for a "new middle east" via "regime change".

Unraveling the Myth of Al Qaida (Al CIA-duh)
blueridge
by blueridge  1-13-2008    3
Truth (and fiction) of Al Qaeda fully disclosed! Note the CIA, the Saudis and Paki ISI enabled this militant group from start, and bin Laden's involvement was as a CIA asset to coordinate the Islamist resistance freedom fighters of Afghanistan against the Soviets. Al Qaeda is in essence fiction, translated meaning "base" for a database of volunteers. Note how Pakistan, thus Musharraf, is highly involved in this work of fiction. This is also why bin Laden's published denial of involvement or knowledge of 9/11, prior to his death, was published in a Karachi Pakistan newspaper (picked up by BBC Monitoring service) but censored by U.S. media, except CNN (note the duplicity of U.S. media, serving Zionist interests in self-censorship of this denial on Sept. 28, 2001).

The Story of the Bhutto Assassination Keeps A'changin'
zasel
by zasel  1-8-2008
All al Qaeda all the time is what the new slogan is in Pakistan whenever some kind of untoward attack occurs. The Bushies actually encourage that kind of talk because they too like to make boogie men out of those bastards all too often. I have no love for them either, but let's face it, this one group does not commit every single attack in the world, as much as some people would have us believe. All that being said, even the U.S. is question the Musharraf government's every changing story of the circumstances surrounding Ms. Bhutto's murder. Something truly stinks there, and I do not trust nor believe Musharraf about much of anything he says. Too bad we propped him up when we did. But then again, we also propped up the Shah, and our biggest hero, Saddam Hussein. Need I say more? :-)

For Sale: West’s Deadly Nuclear Secrets
merrie
by merrie  1-7-2008    1
The Pakistani operation was led by General Mahmoud Ahmad, then the ISI chief. (Inter-Service Intelligence) Intelligence analysts say that members of the ISI were close to Al-Qaeda before and after 9/11. Indeed, Ahmad was accused of sanctioning a $100,000 wire payment to Mohammed Atta, one of the 9/11 hijackers, immediately before the attacks. The results of the espionage were almost certainly passed to Abdul Qadeer Khan, the Pakistani nuclear scientist. Khan was close to Ahmad and the ISI. While running Pakistan’s nuclear programme, he became a millionaire by selling atomic secrets to Libya, Iran and North Korea. Edmonds says packages containing nuclear secrets were delivered by Turkish operatives, using their cover as members of the diplomatic and military community, to contacts at the Pakistani embassy in Washington. Edmonds also claims that a number of senior officials in the Pentagon had helped Israeli and Turkish agents.

CIA and Paki ISI Behind Bhutto Assassination--Bhutto knew bin Laden dead
blueridge
by blueridge  1-3-2008
She "thought bin Laden was dead" and she wanted to open talks with Islamists, which would expose the propaganda and lies. Therefore she had to be killed to protect these enormous lies that continue the "war on terrorism" devised by the neocons prior to 9/11 for regime change in the middle east. Meanwhile, back in gullible America, Rudolph Giuliani calls for a "surge" into Afghanistan to find and kill (the already dead) bin Laden, who denied any knowledge or responsibility (along with the Taliban, in foreign but not U.S. press) for the 9/11 attacks.

More: The dossier also accuses Musharraf's regime of diverting US aid into political dirty tricks, charging that "ninety percent of the equipment that the USA gave the government of Pakistan to fight terrorism ... is being used to monitor and to keep a check on political opponents." Pakistani Senator Latif Khosa told CBS, "The ISI has set up a mega-computer system which has the capacity to hack any of the computers in Pakistan, and it is connected with the Election Commission of Pakistan's computers and therefore they will overturn the results." Khosa also charged that computers are being used to change the voter rolls
