POPSALERT U.S.Treasury Compliance With Shariah Finance Laws system and replacing it with an Islamic one. Incredibly, in recent days, the U.S. Treasury Department has begun embracing Shariah-Compliant Finance. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Robert Kimmitt has professed an interest in studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis. According to a press report out of Saudi Arabia, he has declared that experts in the Treasury Department are currently learning the important features of Islamic banking. To this end, the Treasury Department is hosting in its headquarters building on Thursday, November 6th a seminar for the policy community entitled Islamic Finance 101. This event is being co-sponsored - and, it would appear, orchestrated - to promote Shariah-Compliant Finance by one of Americas leading promoters of the industry: the Islamic Finance Project at Harvard Law School.

POPSU.S.Treasury Submits To Shariah-Compliant Finance While in Riyadh, Mr. Kimmitt announced: "The U.S. government is currently studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis." "Islamic banking" is a euphemism for a practice better known as "Shariah-Compliant Finance (SFC)." And it turns out that this week the Treasury will be taking officials from various federal agencies literally to school on SFC. The department is hosting a half-day course entitled "Islamic Finance 101" on Thursday at its headquarters building. Treasury's self-described "seminar for the policy community" is co-sponsored with the leading academic promoters of Shariah and SCF in the United States: Harvard University Law School's Project on Islamic Finance. At the very least, the U.S. government evidently hopes to emulate Harvard's success in securing immense amounts of Wahhabi money in exchange for conforming to the Islamists' agenda.

POPSDistrict Judge Orders Release Of Uighur Jihadists In D.C. By Friday
This is the very nightmare scenario I warned about. The courts' steps are outrageous, but predictable and inevitable. A lot of the blame here, however, goes to the administration and the military. They have long taken the position that radical Islamic ideology is not the problem, and that we need only worry about actively those taking up arms against the United States. They don't want us to talk about jihad — the better to keep us in the dark about jihadist ideology. Thus, the government rationalizes, the Uighurs are not a threat to us, only to the Chinese. That was all the daylight the judges need to say: OK, then release them in the U.S., since no other country — except China, where they'd be persecuted — will take them. The government's self-defeating argument is preposterous. Jihadists — and there is not question that the Uighurs are jihadists — do not recognize distinctions based on the Westphalia world of nation-states.

POPSSC shuns appeal by ex-professor in terror case I remember this! O'Reilly never let up on bringing national attention to this 'professor'. Why would he not want to testify...if there is nothing to hide? Why would he "argue that the terms of his pleas bargain barred the government from demanding his testimony in other terror cases"? Is he involved or associated with other terrorists and their activity? (wolves within our midst)

POPSObama Uses CAIR Lawyer To Stall BERG v OBAMA Sandler’s role for CAIR has been to stifle people from telling the truth about Islam. For example, last year he tried to get Jihad Expert Robert Spencer banned from speaking to the Young American Foundation, by using a threatening letter. Sandler followed up by threatening columnist Mike Adams for writing about the Spencer incident. Look, everyone deserves legal representation that is not the Issue. The real issue is why is a candidate for President of the United States, a guy who wants to take over the role of Commander-in-Chief in the war on terror, using the Lawyer for CAIR a group with terrorist connections, to represent him in a law suit? Once again the Junior Senator from Illinois leave us with questions and no answers. Hon. R. POPSTerrorists' Assignment: Protect Barack Obama The Israeli Defense Forces, working with U.S. security coordinators, will protect the main West Bank highway Obama's convoy will use to approach Ramallah. Security for Obama will be largely turned over to the Palestinians once he enters Ramallah, although security plans are being heavily coordinated with the U.S.

POPSParalysed Palestinian girl fights for Life "Maria cannot have her mother, brother or grandmother back, she cannot have her body, but there are things we can do to make things better and this is to take care of her for all of her life because she cannot survive outside Israel," Adi Lustigman, her lawyer said. "She needs to live near the hospital, she must be near the emergency room -- things she cannot have in the West Bank" Upset at what he described as foot dragging, Maria's father said he believed the court did not want to set a precedent that would encourage other Palestinians hurt in Israeli attacks to seek long-term medical treatment in Israel. The Defence Ministry maintains that Israeli law does not require the army to compensate Palestinians injured in fighting against militants in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

POPSIslam's Biggest Enemy Is The Muslims Themselves
U.N. Human Rights Council, the Saudi Shura Council raised objections, since reviling other religions is one of Islam's central precepts. "The ones who harm the Prophet are those who believe that woman is lewd, and that she detracts from the purity of prayer just like a dog or a donkey...and those who believe that a woman lacks intelligence. "The ones who harm the Prophet are the rulers of Arab states who have made their countries the last bastions of tyranny and dictatorship in the world, and who demand submission to religious texts to justify their crimes. "The ones who harm the Prophet do not live in the West - they are among us, the Muslims. It is the Muslims who have fashioned an Islamic model that is inherently terrorist, hypocritical, life-negating, and sustained by the murder of others in the name of jihad and by attacks on freedom of opinion under the pretext of defending Islamic national principles. This is what we - and no one else - have produced."

POPSThicker Skins Needed Maybe if certain Muslims tempered their over the top outrage over perceived insults and reined in their more radical leaders others would view them differently. Just a thought.

POPS9/11 Architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: Make Me A Martyr
It has declared Mohammed and other al-Qaeda accused to be "illegal enemy combatants", stateless individuals who should not be afforded the usual protections given to prisoners of war. Joining him (Khalik Sheikh Mohammed) at the long-awaited hearing were Ramzi Binalshibh, who is said to have been the main intermediary between the hijackers and al-Qaeda leaders; Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, known as Ammar al-Baluchi, a nephew and lieutenant of Mohammed; Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi, al-Baluchi's assistant; and Waleed bin Attash, who allegedly selected and trained some of the 19 hijackers who turned planes into missiles in the attacks. BROUGHT up in Kuwait in a family whose roots lie in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan, Mohammed developed extremist Islamic beliefs as a teenager. He claims to have joined the Muslim Brotherhood at 16 and to have fallen for violent jihad. Of beheading Mr Pearl, he said: "I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew."

POPSAn Al Qaeda Mastermind Questions Terrorism Lawrence Wright
“Do they now have fax machines in Egyptian jail cells?” he asked. “I wonder if they’re connected to the same line as the electric-shock machines.” This sarcastic dismissal was perhaps intended to dampen anxiety about Fadl’s manifesto—which was to be published serially, in newspapers in Egypt and Kuwait—among Al Qaeda insiders. Fadl’s previous work, after all, had laid the intellectual foundation for Al Qaeda’s murderous acts. On a recent trip to Cairo, I met with Gamal Sultan, an Islamist writer and a publisher there. He said of Fadl, “Nobody can challenge the legitimacy of this person. His writings could have far-reaching effects not only in Egypt but on leaders outside it.” Usama Ayub, a former member of Egypt’s Islamist community, who is now the director of the Islamic Center in Münster, Germany, told me, “A lot of people base their work on Fadl’s writings, so he’s very important. When Dr. Fadl speaks, everyone should listen.” Lawrence Wright, "The Looming Tower"

POPSIslam and Secularism Volkhard Krech, professor for religious studies , has come to the conclusion that some religious traditions, such as Judaism and Protestantism, represent "secularization factors." Other faiths, such as Islam and evangelical churches have a tendency to combine a strong sense of both national and religious identity, mixing politics with religion. The Berlin Islamic scholar Gudrun Krämer made clear that a "massive rejection" of secularism prevails in most Muslim countries. In Islamic discourse, secularization is regarded as a "hostile takeover" of Muslim society. Instead of the notion of the separation of religion and state, the idea of "empowerment" is stressed. Islam calls for believers to actively participate in the power structures of the state. As a mixture of nationalism and Islamism, the so-called "national Jihad" is pushing its way into the political arena and has given birth to the notion of the "Islamic welfare state."

POPSBush: No more Islamist jihads. Obliterated are jihadists, mujahideen, Islamofascist. So no more "glamorising terrorism, or imbues terrorists with religious authority they do not have and so damaging relations with Muslims around the world." Pity he didn't realize this BEFORE he sullied America's name in the Muslim world. Bit late now to smell the grass. You might expect to know what you should call your Muslim friends now. Well 'the memo warns: "Don't compromise our credibility" by using words and phrases that may ascribe benign motives to terrorists' but no useful info for the few neocon clippers. I expect it'll be back to swiftboating now.

POPS'Iran smuggling arms into Gaza by sea' This is just sickening. When this powder keg finally blows, the US and Europe have no one to blame but themselves for failing to deal with the rampant (and obvious) smuggling of weapons into the area. And they all *know* that these weapons are for ONE purpose and it's not for making "peace in the region".

POPSKhaled Abou El Fadl: Jihad Gone Wrong Khaled Abou el Fadl is a professor at the School of Law at the University of California. He is a prominent Islamic scholar and intellectual. In this interview, El Fadl talks about suicide bombings, misinterpretations of 'jihad' and the humanist tradition of Islam. POPSNavy chaplain fired from teaching job after report exposed his anti-Islamic views
In addition to relieving Waite of his teaching duties, Morgan, the GTF president, said the school has scrapped its Military Ministries program, which Chaplain Waite presided over, in an effort to “distance ourselves profoundly from his name and his ideas.” “It has come to our attention that a "former" member of our faculty, Brian Waite, has written a book which is now withdrawn by the publisher attacking Islam!” says a copy of the email written by Morgan sent to Muslim faculty members. “Please know that we have dismissed him from our faculty and terminated our military ministries program . . . If anyone enquires of you regarding Brian Waite (a military chaplain serving in Iraq), please assure them that he was appointed to the faculty without our knowledge of his book or his feelings about Islam. Please know that the Foundation as an institution and myself as its President are deeply committed to our Islamic program, faculty, and students.”
