Don't Defend Religion By Silencing Free Speech
Karzdan
by Karzdan  Yesterday 12:38 PM    1
Islamic nations are continuing to push for banning criticism of religion in the UN. They are trying to make blasphemy and international crime. This is a very good article on why, allowing this, would be a bad thing.

US Studying Features Of Islamic Banking
merrie
by merrie  11-9-2008    1
Oct. 26 RIYADH ----He said that experts in the US Treasury Department are currently learning the important features of Islamic banking. However, he added that his country is focusing on activities of various governments and central banks in tackling the economic issues. He pointed out that the member countries in the G-20 also includes Islamic countries such as Indonesia and Turkey, besides the Kingdom which has been a member for the past 10 years. Representatives from these countries could present their experiences of Islamic banking in the light of the prevailing situation. He hoped the G-20 summit will provide an effective platform for the member countries to exchange their views on the current economic problem and lay out a plan for the countries to draw out their respective national plans to ease the situation.

ALERT U.S.Treasury Compliance With Shariah Finance Laws
merrie
by merrie  11-8-2008    2
system and replacing it with an Islamic one. Incredibly, in recent days, the U.S. Treasury Department has begun embracing Shariah-Compliant Finance. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Robert Kimmitt has professed an interest in studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis. According to a press report out of Saudi Arabia, he has declared that experts in the Treasury Department are currently learning the important features of Islamic banking. To this end, the Treasury Department is hosting in its headquarters building on Thursday, November 6th a seminar for the policy community entitled Islamic Finance 101. This event is being co-sponsored - and, it would appear, orchestrated - to promote Shariah-Compliant Finance by one of Americas leading promoters of the industry: the Islamic Finance Project at Harvard Law School.

Ahmadinejad Offers Obama Landmark Congratulations
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-6-2008
That policy, Ahmadinejad claimed, was "based on warmongering, occupation, bullying, deception and humiliation, as well as discrimination and unfair relations" and has led to "hatred of all nations and majority of governments toward the U.S. leaders." Ahmadinejad also said that Obama is expected to replace such a policy with "an approach based on justice and respect, as well as lack of intervention in the affairs of others." Iranians will welcome such changes, Ahmadinejad added. Saeed Leilaz, an independent analyst in Tehran, said Ahmadinejad's message was a "positive step" that now leaves Washington with the responsibility for the next one. Leilaz added he believes Obama's victory will "weaken radicalism" in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and North Korea.

U.S.Treasury Submits To Shariah-Compliant Finance
merrie
by merrie  11-5-2008    2
While in Riyadh, Mr. Kimmitt announced: "The U.S. government is currently studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis." "Islamic banking" is a euphemism for a practice better known as "Shariah-Compliant Finance (SFC)." And it turns out that this week the Treasury will be taking officials from various federal agencies literally to school on SFC. The department is hosting a half-day course entitled "Islamic Finance 101" on Thursday at its headquarters building. Treasury's self-described "seminar for the policy community" is co-sponsored with the leading academic promoters of Shariah and SCF in the United States: Harvard University Law School's Project on Islamic Finance. At the very least, the U.S. government evidently hopes to emulate Harvard's success in securing immense amounts of Wahhabi money in exchange for conforming to the Islamists' agenda.

It doesn't matter. Over half of the US citizens apparently have decided that the "Change" man is who they want...completely disregarding that all our avowed enemies want him also. I bet we will see cheering, dancing in the streets, gun-fire going off, women clucking their tongues all over the Middle East tomorrow...just as we saw on 9/11. While most Americans don't consider Obama a Muslim/Islamic sympathizer, *they* do.

Interventionism, Not Muslims, Is the Problem
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-28-2008    11
Thus, rather than ceasing its policy of interventionism after 9/11, which is what the U.S. government should have done even while pursuing the perpetrators through criminal-justice means, it did the very worst thing possible — it continued and even expanded its policy of interventionism in the hope of killing those whose differences with America’s values had risen to the level of rage as a result of U.S. interventionism. Not surprisingly, that only fueled more anger and rage. So, what should the U.S. government do now? It should do what it should have done after 9/11: Exit Afghanistan and Iraq and the entire Middle East. Bring all the troops home. Everyone seems to know this, but America. I read a lot of hate against Muslims on CM and I find that highly troubling. It's a crock. Muslims DON'T hate us, they are NOT the enemy and if the US just left other countries alone, the "War on Terror" would be over. Don't buy into it.. Bring the troops home.

Somali govt troops seize town held by Islamist rebels
tommy2balmy
by tommy2balmy  10-27-2008
Somalia is the most pressing humanitarian emergency in the world — even worse than Darfur — the country representative for the U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR, said in 2008. Aid workers say Somalia has more than 1 million internally displaced people and their numbers are swelled by an exodus of thousands of civilians each month from the capital, Mogadishu, under attack from Islamists fighting to take control of it. Relief agencies say that the 15km between the capital and the town of Afgoye is probably the largest concentration of displaced people on the planet. In March 2008 an estimated 250,000 people were camped along the side of the road.

Muslim groups protested her statement, calling it hateful racism. Where these groups protesting with their fellow muslims hacked off several heads of innocent victims on video? Nope. Listen. When a person adopts the muslim faith and prays in the mosque, they are muslim for life. Some may change their religion, but in the eyes of fellow muslims, they remain muslim. The fact is Obama was once a muslim in Indonesia. The fact that he joins a black America-hating congregation that purports to be Christian doesn't make him one. This woman is correct. Obama is a muslim socialist. And muslims are our enemies.

October Surprises In History
merrie
by merrie  10-13-2008    1
During October 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union came to the brink of war over nuclear-armed missiles that Nikita Khrushchev had shipped to Cuba. Those who believe that this month's collapse of global financial markets is an unprecedented disaster need to study history. In 1987, Oct. 19 became known as "Black Monday," as Wall Street investors watched the market nose-dive 22 percent and lose $500 billion in value in a single trading session -- still the biggest one-day loss of value in history. The 23rd of this month is the 25th anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Marine headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon -- a radical Islamic suicide attack that killed 241 Americans. Fifteen years ago this month, there was a 19-hour gunfight in Mogadishu, Somalia, which claimed the lives of 18 U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force personnel.

District Judge Orders Release Of Uighur Jihadists In D.C. By Friday
merrie
by merrie  10-7-2008    2
This is the very nightmare scenario I warned about. The courts' steps are outrageous, but predictable and inevitable. A lot of the blame here, however, goes to the administration and the military. They have long taken the position that radical Islamic ideology is not the problem, and that we need only worry about actively those taking up arms against the United States. They don't want us to talk about jihad — the better to keep us in the dark about jihadist ideology. Thus, the government rationalizes, the Uighurs are not a threat to us, only to the Chinese. That was all the daylight the judges need to say: OK, then release them in the U.S., since no other country — except China, where they'd be persecuted — will take them. The government's self-defeating argument is preposterous. Jihadists — and there is not question that the Uighurs are jihadists — do not recognize distinctions based on the Westphalia world of nation-states.

Secret, Foreign Money Flowing Into Obama Campaign
merrie
by merrie  10-2-2008    1
Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Though Gadhafi asserted that fundraising from Arab and African nations were “legitimate,” the fact is that U.S. federal law bans any foreigner from donating to a U.S. election campaign. “All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man, they welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency…” A pair of Palestinian brothers named Hosam and Monir Edwan contributed more than $31,300 to the Obama campaign in October and November 2007, FEC records show.
