POPSBaby to be born free of breast cancer after embryo screening This case of genetic intervention for the elimination of genetic diseases, is a ground breaking first that may change our world and our ethical outlook. Many more will follow. I was quite surprised to read the following: "Some critics say it is wrong to destroy embryos because there is only a chance women with the gene may develop breast cancer in adulthood. They argue that, increasingly, breast cancer can also be successfully treated. " The said "embryos" are 3 days old lumps of undifferentiated cells.

POPSwierd science This is completely fucking wrong . Women have worked so hard for year to be concidered "equal" to men , and the only thing they have never been able to take away from us is our ability to carry a child . Untill now atleast.... I don't completely disagree with using the procedure for like transgendered people , but I do think a 100 % real man should definitly not be able to carry a baby. In my opion , theres just no point to it really. I think that if we have the technology to do this , then why do we not have cures for things like cancer, aids, or diabetes even? Simple.... we do , its called population control .

POPSDonor Disclosure Here's an interesting find by The Globe - that almost half the parents who used egg donors don't want to share the information with their children. It appears that some moms are worried that the knowledge may diminish their roles or invite children to look for their "second mom". I personally can't imagine how difficult it would be to sit a child down and explain this, but I have to agree with psychologists who say children have a right to know their medical histories. And haven't we all seen a few too many Lifetime movies in which hiding this kind of information ends badly?

POPSTwo mums plus dad made this embryo There are embryos that are described as 'spare' It breaks my heart. It's experimental, with no guarantee of success, and the prospects for abuse by those with no scruples cannot be imagined. There are better ways of doing things, but, in the 21st century, life is a four letter word.

POPSChurch condemns lesbian IVF use There really is no one-size fits all solution here. A child needs a loving, healthy atmosphere to grow up in. I know enough people who grew up in spite of their fathers presence, equally those who grew up in spite of their mothers. Either way, I don't believe banning people from raising children because of their sexuality is right.

POPSFinding the Right Embryo to Implant "The method hasn't changed since the 1980s, and it's surprising that there's no more technology involved in this." Seli and his colleagues say that accurately identifying viable embryos from the start would significantly decrease the likelihood of multiple pregnancies.
