Director of Meteorology: Americans Should Go After Gore And Hansen
merrie
by merrie  6-24-2008    25
"It's back to the drawing board for Hansen and company as the alleged ‘consensus' over man-made climate fears continues to wane and more and more scientists declare their dissent," said Sen. Inhofe. Hear, hear! Readers are strongly advised to review all of the articles NewsBusters has published concerning the junk science being advanced by Hansen the last two decades. *****Update: Please don't miss fabulous posts concerning this matter by CEI's Chris Horner published at NRO's Planet Gore such as this, this, and this. In particular, don't miss Horner exposing Hansen for staging his June 1988 Congressional appearance by timing it for the hottest day of the year, and having the air conditioning turned off in the hearing room to make it especially toasty. Also, D'Aleo has more here.

Dems Running On Empty: Sen. James Inhofe
merrie
by merrie  6-19-2008    2
Not only was I joined by dozens of GOP Senators, but nearly 30% of the Democratic Senators rebelled against their leadership and opposed the Boxer Climate Tax Bill. In the end, Senator Boxer only had at most 35 Democratic Senators willing to vote for final passage on the largest tax bill in U.S. history. The Boxer Climate Tax Bill was thoroughly disowned by Democratic Leadership and The Wall Street Journal aptly noted that environmentalists are “stunned that their global warming agenda is in collapse.” Just a few days after the embarrassing defeat of the climate bill, the Democrats were at it again. As the price of gas at the pump continued to climb, Democrats were proposing yet another energy tax as part of their “solution” to our energy challenges. A major component of the Democrats’ “no” energy bill would reinstate the Windfall Profits Tax. Democrats want to impose the tax despite the fact that we tried this almost 30 years ago, with disastrous results.

Climate Bill Underlines Obstacles
merrie
by merrie  6-1-2008
environmental activists, resent having to vote for anything authored by Lieberman in light of his active support of the presidential bid of GOP Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). And several senators are questioning why they are being asked to vote on a lengthy substitute version of the bill that Boxer and her allies just introduced a week and a half ago. "This is just a money grab," said James E. Rogers, the chief executive of Duke Energy. Rogers says he supports a cap-and-trade system but argues that this bill raises too much revenue from coal users while diverting too much of it to other purposes. "Only the mafia could create an organization that would skim money off the top the way this legislation would skim money off the top," he said. Duke, with customers in Ohio, Indiana and the Carolinas, relies heavily on coal-fired plants.

Analysis of Lieberman-Warner Reveals Massive Economic Pain
merrie
by merrie  4-30-2008
EIA also found Lieberman-Warner would result in up to a 9.5% drop in manufacturing output by 2030. “Despite this gloomy EIA analysis, proponents of Lieberman-Warner are still claiming the bill will not impose economic harm to America. Only in Washington could higher energy prices be characterized as not negatively impacting the U.S. economy. If Democrats have their way, Americans will pay significantly more at the pump, in their homes, and in many cases, with their jobs, all to accomplish an undetectable impact on the climate. “The question now is which U.S. Senator will dare to stand on the Senate Floor a month from now to vote in favor of significantly increasing the price of gas at the pump?” Both government and private sector analysis have shown the cost of the Lieberman-Warner bill to be extremely painful.

More: More than $300 million has been spent on 221,000 of the carbines over the past two years alone. And the Defense Department is asking Congress to provide another $230 million for 136,000 more. Lord, if republicans are going to deliver us BS wars couldn't they at least spend our taxpayer dollars on U.S. pork. Here's somemore brilliance from Oklahoma, Tom Coburn's senatorial twin Jim Inhofe, For example my area of expertise is the English language. -- Sen. James Mountain Inhofe (R - OK)

SAVE Act Discharge Petition Filed, Gaining Momentum

The Senate attached an immigration enforcement measure sponsored by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to its Fiscal Year 2009 Budget Resolution before passage on March 13. The amendment would create a deficit-neutral reserve fund that fully covers completion of the 700-mile border fence and at least 6,000 National Guard troops at the border. The fund also would cover: implementing the exit data portion of the U.S. VISIT entry/exit system at airports, seaports, and land ports of entry; training/ reimbursement for state and local immigration law enforcement under the Section 287(g) program; and expanding the zero tolerance illegal entry prosecution policy to all 20 border sectors. The principle mission of the caucus, which includes Republican Senators David Vitter (La.), James DeMint (S.C.), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), James Inhofe (Okla.), Elizabeth Dole (N.C.), Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.), Richard Burr (N.C.), and Roger Wicker (Miss.), "promote a true, achievable alternative

“Scientific Consensus” That Paves The Road To Nowhere
merrie
by merrie  12-23-2007
Now maybe all of this - and there’s lots more - isn’t enough for Gore, but it is producing results, many of which could be important for anti-pollution, oil-conserving purposes beyond any possible curtailing of global warming, and we have meanwhile learned from the Kyoto Protocol that ill-considered grandiosity doesn’t produce anything but braggadocio about good intentions that pave the road to nowhere. Supposedly, there’s a “scientific consensus” that human-induced warming will deliver a series of enormous catastrophes if left untreated, but the extent of concurrence has never been what it has mostly been made out to be. Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) recently released a list of 400 of the growing number of reputable scientists from all over the world who have voiced serious doubts about one aspect or another of the thesis.

James Inhofe (R.-Okla.) said to the Business & Media Institute. Inhofe, the ranking Republican on the EPW Committee, said he was optimistic the bill wouldn’t make it into law, despite overwhelming support from committee members.

U.N. Tax Scheme:::Sen Inhofe Says “fuhgetaboutit”
merrie
by merrie  11-12-2007
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is warning of global taxes but notes that help is on the way in the form of Senator James Inhofe’s proposed anti-global taxes legislation. Headlined, U.N. globotaxes: Fuhgetaboutit, the May 30 editorial declared: Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., is on the verge of telling the United Nations, “Don’t even think about it.” Mr. Inhofe will be introducing a bill mandating the U.N. not advocate or promote global taxation — since the hopelessly dysfunctional polyglot of poppycock is musing about “new sources of development finance.” Or for those not fluent in bureaucratic Esperanto — taxing Americans.

One World Order And The Law Of The Sea Treaty
merrie
by merrie  11-1-2007
Reject Law Of The Sea Reagan did, so should we http://www.rejectlost.org/ What if I were to tell you that at this very moment in the halls of the Senate, legislation is being considered that will govern 70 percent of the earth's surface, threaten the very sovereignty of our country and, worse, without the efforts of a select few, would have become law years ago? What if I added that our enemies are waiting in the wings for us to make this historic blunder by accepting legislation that effectively cedes our autonomy to international organizations such as the United Nations? If you are of the small percentage of Americans who has heard of the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, or simply the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), I congratulate you on being ahead of the curve. If you have not heard of LOST, you soon will, as we are gearing up in the Senate for a fight against one of the most far-reaching international challenges to American sovereignty we have ever faced.

Sen. James Inhofe::Global Warming Heretic
merrie
by merrie  10-13-2007    4
Inhofe recognizes that the Earth is warming, but sees this as part of the natural cycle. Inhofe mentioned the Medieval Warm Period -- 1000 to 1270 A.D. when the Vikings grew crops in Greenland. So he doesn't buy this 12,000-year high. His office referred me to a piece University of Oklahoma geology professor David Deming penned for the Normal Transcript that noted, "The fact that the thermometer wasn't invented until the year 1714 ought to give us pause when evaluating this remarkable claim." The Times' "mainstream scientists" line undermines the editorial's credibility as it ignores the likes of MIT climate scientist Richard S. Lindzen, who argues that clouds and water vapor will counteract greenhouse-gas emissions. Ditto the 60 Canadian scientists who wrote to Prime Minister Stephen Harper that there is no " 'consensus' among climate scientists."

Debunking global warming

I've often wondered why I haven't heard much in the way of evidence for man made global warming in the news. Finally, here is the explanation! I have read numerous reports of man made emissions of one kind of another increasing, but never any evidence linking those emissions to global warming. Simply saying that a scientist thinks this or that is not evidence. Real science is backed up with reliable data from reliable sources.

My favorites: Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) making up an excuse to do a debate with his opponent over a satelite linkup, allowing him to read from a teleprompter Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) telling law enforcement officials to be wary of Arabs who "drive taxicabs by day and kill at night". Representative J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) approving of the nativist writings of notorious anti-Semite Henry Ford Representative Donald Young (R-AK) telling high school students that the NEA funds art depicting "buttfucking" Representative Katherine Harris (R-FL) telling voters that a Middle Eastern terorrist was arrested trying to blow up the power grid of Carmel, IN (which came as a surprise to Carmel's mayor and to Indiana's governor). Also: Harris telling her staffters that a speech they had submitted to her was "terrible"--even though it was written by herself two months earlier!
