The twelve detainees have been transferred to: Yemen, an al-Qaeda hotbed whose government makes common cause with jihadists (and has a history of allowing them to escape " or of releasing them outright); Afghanistan, which is so ungovernable and rife with jihadism that we're surging thousands of troops there (troops the jihadists are targeting); and Somaliland, which is not even a country, and which offers an easy entree into Somalia, a failed state and al-Qaeda safe-haven. At least one of the released terrorists, a Somali named Abdullahi Sudi Arale (aka Ismail Mahmoud Muhammad), was released notwithstanding the military's designation of him as a "high-value detainee"

Phares said that Hizb ut-Tahrir, rather than training members to carry out terrorist acts like Al Qaeda, focuses instead on indoctrinating youths between ages of 9 and 18 to absorb the ideology that calls for the formation of an empire " or "khilafah" " that will rule according to Islamic law and condones any means to achieve it, including militant jihad. Hizb ut-Tahrir often says that its indoctrination "prepares the infantry" that groups like Al Qaeda take into battle, Phares said. "It's like a middle school that prepares them to be recruited by the high school, which is Al Qaeda," he said. "One would compare them to Hitler youth. ... It's an extremely dangerous organization." Phares said Hizb ut-Tahrir has strongholds in Western countries, including Britain, France and Spain, and clearly is looking to strengthen its base in the U.S.

He feels the urgency of the need to move today." After repeated rejections of peace plans during the Carter and Bush administrations, the Israelis turned over Gaza to its Israeli-Arab residents to self-rule. Gaza is no longer occupied today except, arguably, by Iran and al Qaeda.

It was the way to rid the Middle East of a tyrant, draw in and decimate al Qaeda, and an effective way to ultimately defeat al Qaeda and jihadist philosphy, that could never have been done in Afghanistan alone. Once again the democrats have been proven wrong on Iraq and wrong on how to fight and defeat al Qaeda. History will provide Bush and his administration with a legacy as a brilliant war president who executed a brilliant, difficult and daring war plan successfully. And the title of this piece is telling - who has been trying to sell the American people with Iraq's Jihad Myths? The liberal mainstream media, that's who.

POPSAnnihilation of Infidels is the Goal of Radical Islamists Vijay Ayyagari is an awesome commentator. He is precise, unequivocal, and factual. He has made it clear that he is apolitical in his concern about the issue he has accurately assessed in his article. I am for what Mr. Ayyagari has pointed out here: this is an issue of survival. It is not an American party political issue to be tossed around in the noisy, provincial market of American feverish electioneering. To criticize his article from the point of view of the GOP/Dem party political brouhaha is to diminish Mr. Ayyagari's intent and value of his words. Unless we realize what we are about to lose my only advice is go and buy a Qur'an and a prayer-mat, join a fitnes-club to exercise your knee-caps for eventual multi-genuflections a day (I think at least four times a day) to Allah when Jihadism takes over.
