POPSMandate? Stop it. There is no "mandate" Moreover.... if a white democrat candidate had run with Obama's qualifications and experience, there was no way he would have been elected. Racisim put Dear Leader in the White House.

POPSTough Times: Congress Grew 13 Percent Richer In 2007
Rep Robin Hayes, R-N.C., ranks third, with $173.4 million. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., ranks sixth, with $62 million. In the Senate, the two Democrats from Massachusetts claimed two of the top three spots. Sen. John Kerry led the pack, with $336 million, while Sen. Edward M. Kennedy ranked third, with $104 million. Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., ranked second, with $241.5 million. Overall, senators had a median net worth estimated at $1.7 million. The 535 members of Congress, who earn average annual salaries of $169,000 and receive cost-of-living pay increases, had a total net worth of $3.7 billion last year. Although some are likely to take a hit from Wall Street's woes, their average net worth soared by 61 percent from 2004 to 2007. Obama ranked as one of the biggest financial winners, with his net worth increasing from $800,000 in 2006 to $4.7 million last year McCain estimated at $28.5 million wealth attributed to his wife Cindy's family fortune.

POPS Valkyrie For War Czar
that in the event of blood actually being shed, all operations should be immediately terminated and forces extricated in the most humiliating way possible, with strategy to be determined by regular polling. However, that was the 1990s, and we also know that in the post-9/11 era, Clinton briefly grew a set and strongly favored invading the heck out of belligerents who had made her husband look like an ineffective skirt-chaser. It was only the prospect of being president herself that made Hillary turn into a peacenik, but we know from the Democratic primary that Hillary does not give up. She will gouge the eyeballs out of anyone who stands in her way. News reports indicate we are being increasingly quagmirized by a bunch of 19th-century dishcloth-wearing savages in the rocky passes of the Hindu Kush, with al-Qaeda thumbing its aquiline nose from across the border in Waziristan, and the mullahs of Iran insisting on becoming a world-class nuisance, not to mention the Putinistas

POPSPriest to deny Communion To Obama Supporters In 2004 I knowingly and willingly committed the grievous sin of voting for John Kerry. And, Lord help me, I'd do it again tomorrow. So I guess I am a sinner again according to this priest, and it makes me mad as hell all over again.

POPSClinton to Head State Dept.? Politico describes this as a "secret meeting," but it's got to be one of the worst-kept secrets ever. The tone of the piece is rumor, but the fact that there's a specific cabinet post being talked about suggests there's probably something more. Previous reports had Sec. of State as a contest between John Kerry and Bill Richardson. I liked Richardson for the post, but I would've been happy with either. To tell the truth, at this point in time, I've got nothing against HRC taking it either.

POPS Day One Obama faces a Cold War threat and a warning from Israel Gordon Brown became one of the first world leaders to congratulate Obama in a ten-minute telephone call last night. Aides said they discussed Obama's plans for a phased withdrawal from Iraq and his commitment to boost forces in Afghanistan. Speaking from the South Lawn of the White House, President Bush said he would be meeting Mr Obama next week and is making 'unprecedented efforts' to make a smooth transition during his final 74 days in office. As if the instant foreign policy tests were not enough, Mr Obama was also facing more economic problems with the Dow Jones Index dropping for a second successive day. Wall Street greeted his election win by plunging nearly 500 points on Wednesday and it was down again by 274 points in afternoon trading.

POPSObama Wins: Bangkok Post - Bangkok, Thailand A full 62 per cent of voters ranked the economy as the key issue of this election, compared to 10 per cent invoking the war in Iraq and 9 per cent rating terrorism or health care highest. Millions already voted in recent weeks in early or absentee voting allowed in 31 states, including key battlegrounds Florida, North Carolina, Colorado and Nevada. Voters waited patiently in serpentine queues early Tuesday to cast ballots. Many had started lining up before dawn, and some braved pouring rain to cast their ballots. It was a bittersweet end to the 21-month campaign for Obama, whose grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, 86, passed away overnight Sunday after a battle with cancer, the Illinois senator revealed Monday.

POPSLong lines to vote are a modern poll tax
In January 1964, the 24th Amendment to the Constitution abolished the poll tax. A poll tax was a fee you had to pay at the time of voting. No money, no vote. So, rich people voted, poor people didn't. 44 years later, we have a sort of poll tax: long lines. Long lines. How many hours did it "cost" you to vote? 2? 4? 6? How much income did you lose? So, you need the money, or if you can't take the long wait, guess what? You don't vote. You want to vote, but you can't afford to. Nonvoters in Ohio, 2004, cost John Kerry the Presidency...Obama voters, no matter what, no matter how long, please, please don't go home. Wait as long as you have to. But do NOT go home without casting your vote...Vote, then go home. VOTE. VOTE... It is time for CHANGE. We, the People have the POWER to make that CHANGE. The Ballot. Vote Bush and his Republican pals out of office. America can't have 4 MORE years, the SAME as the last 4 with the failed Bush-McCain failed policies...VOTE THE BUMS OUT!

POPSFiveThirtyEight's Final Electoral Projection For the past nine months FiveThirtyEight.com tirelessly gathered data from the many, many polls around and used that to project election results. Until now, we've really had no way of seeing how accurate those projections are. Late tonight/early tomorrow we should know.

POPSAmerica's Last Will and Testament It astounds me that Democrats continue to paint Republicans as plutocrats when kazillionaires like Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, Schumer, Kerry, Clinton and even a guy named Rockefeller, sit in the Senate, and people like George Soros, Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, fill their coffers. I used to wonder why Soros, a bottom-feeder who made his fortune in the sleazy business of currency trading, would align himself with the far left wing of the Democratic party. Then, one day, it occurred to me that I used to describe John Howard Lawson, a hack screenwriter who once ran the Communist party in Hollywood, as a man who was born to run a gulag. I now believe that Soros sees himself as a major honcho in a new Soviet United States, a man in charge of the men who would run the gulags.

POPSPossible McCain win scenarios Which states to watch: Out of 10,000 simulations, McCain wins 624. "there are some states that truly do appear to be "must-wins" for McCain. In each and every one of the 624 victory scenarios that the simulation found for him this afternoon, McCain won Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Indiana and Montana. He also picked up Ohio in 621 out of the 624 simulations, and North Carolina in 622 out of 624. If McCain drops any of those states, it's pretty much over.

POPSOne Man's "Dream-Team" Is Another Man's "Cuckoo's Nest" One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest Redux video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJrBhtnQ42U Don’t forget Al Gore as Secretary of the Navy. He’s already plying the high (and ever higher) seas aboard the BS (Bio-Solar) 1. Why not send him to face down the Somalis pirates? (“You lied! You played upon our fears!!”) Chris Matthews as Press Secretary is also a no-brainer. He’ll need the podium to hide how far up his leg that thrill has gone. The Clintons will make for entertaining bookends on the Supreme Court after Stevens and Ginsberg retire, knowing their seats will be safely handed on to like-minded lefties. POPSMcCain voters: Don't Read - about intelligent political debate Reagan health programme would have appalled most Americans , had he explained it as carefully as Carter had done, but he had found a formula for avoiding tough political issues and making his opponents look like wonks. It wasn't always like this. The founding fathers of the republic - Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton and others - were among the greatest thinkers of their age. They felt no need to make a secret of it. How did the project they launched degenerate into George W Bush and Sarah Palin? ... Guardian

POPSObama's Abortion Extremism
It gets worse yet. In an act of breathtaking injustice which the Obama campaign lied about until critics produced documentary proof of what he had done, as an Illinois state senator Obama opposed legislation to protect children who are born alive, either as a result of an abortionist's unsuccessful effort to kill them in the womb, or by the deliberate delivery of the baby prior to viability. This legislation would not have banned any abortions. Indeed, it included a specific provision ensuring that it did not affect abortion laws. (This is one of the points Obama and his campaign lied about until they were caught.) The federal version of the bill passed unanimously in the United States Senate, winning the support of such ardent advocates of legal abortion as John Kerry and Barbara Boxer. But Barack Obama opposed it and worked to defeat it. For him, a child marked for abortion gets no protection-even ordinary medical or comfort care-even if she is born alive and entirely separated from

POPSTalk About Socialism - A Case For Obama
The McCain-Palin Campaign has stooped so low it’s hard to believe it is an USA Org.... Did I just say that? The GOP can only win through dirty politics, or so they presume. The code words they use, seem so misplaced in today disastrous economy, which will only get much worse. (Especially, under a McCain/Palin administration) We will never see the end of all the sick, malicious name-calling and assassination of character during elections, unless the American voter will stop acting like frightened children, voting for fear-mongers who scare the BEJESUS out of them. This article shows why, John McCain BETTER NOT become the next president. If he does, our nation most likely, will not survive the slide the Republicans have brought about with their small government mantra, unregulated market creed and trickle-down, fairytale economics which means... huge welfare checks given to the rich, who are suppose to, in return, share with us at the bottom. Talk about socialism.

POPSDid McCain LIE about POW Torture?
Has McCain lived off another Vietnam Lie for all these years? Are the Bush LIES and Deceptions to continue? They dumped a real war hero in Kerry for an AWOL drunkard in Bush. Now will they elect a plane-crashing non-tortured collaborating fraud instead? ... ... I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate. Most of us who survived that experience are now in our late 60's and 70's. Sadly, we have died and are dying off at a greater rate than our non-POW contemporaries. We experienced injuries and malnutrition that are coming home to roost. So I believe John's age (73) and survival expectation are not good for being elected to serve as our President for 4 or more years. I can verify that John has an infamous reputation for being a hot head. He has a quick and explosive temper th
