The tone of the piece is rumor, but the fact that there's a specific cabinet post being talked about suggests there's probably something more. So, rich people voted, poor people didn't. 44 years later, we have a sort of poll tax: long lines. Long lines. How many hours did it "cost" you to vote? 2? 4? 6? How much income did you lose? So, you need the money, or if you can't take the long wait, guess what? You don't vote. You want to vote, but you can't afford to. Nonvoters in Ohio, 2004, cost John Kerry the Presidency...Obama voters, no matter what, no matter how long, please, please don't go home. Wait as long as you have to. Has McCain lived off another Vietnam Lie for all these years? Are the Bush LIES and Deceptions to continue? They dumped a real war hero in Kerry for an AWOL drunkard in Bush. Now will they elect a plane-crashing non-tortured collaborating fraud instead? ... ... I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate. Most of us who survived that experience are now in our late 60's and 70's. Sadly, we have died and are dying off at a greater rate than our non-POW contemporaries. We experienced injuries and malnutrition that are coming home to roost. So I believe John's age (73) and survival expectation are not good for being elected to serve as our President for 4 or more years.
