POPSBetsy McCaughey on death panels Here's the woman who started the notion of death panels, doing interviews with Dylan Ratigan and Jon Stewart. Don't miss the Stewart interview, especially. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to clip the video, so you'll have to click through to the Health Spectator site to see them.

POPSGuess Who Wants to Control the Internet? On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took up the issue of "net neutrality" and Senator John McCain's efforts to create one of those ironically named pieces of legislation that sounds like it is going to deliver something good -- in this case "Internet Freedom" -- but would actually make the Internet suck out loud, forever and ever. POPSDefense dept. opposed to franken's anti-rape amendment The amendment, sponsored by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), is intended to address the type of Kafka-esque treatment Jamie Leigh Jones received from the U.S. justice system after she was gang-raped by fellow KBR workers. The defense contractor argued that her employment contract required that her claim be heard in private arbitration rather than in open court. POPSJon Stewart's Comedy Rips CNN Sorry I couldn't clip the video but this is a skit well worth watching: Jon Stewart on TV's Daily Show mocks CNN and other news agencies for not just a lack of fact but for not even seeming to care about any facts ("leave it there."). It's so true. These news agencies quote critics, have people on who say this and that and they have No Idea if what is being said is "news," or true at all: It's just gossip, smear, slander, confrontation, sensationalism.

POPSAmerica's Olympic Loss The Republicans are just childish brats That have never served in the arm forces , yet wave the flag of patriotism as though they earned it. Nothing but cowards and liars. And they disgust Any real American who actually fought for this country.

POPS"Democrat-Media Complex" “The unorthodox roll-out was orchestrated to protect James and Hannah,” said Breitbart. “The moment that their peril ended, was when Jon Stewart reported on this, making fun of the media for missing the story. At that moment I called James and Hannah and said, “You’re mostly in the clear, and the only people left who’ll attack you will be some liberal bloggers.’” Breitbart knows something about liberal bloggers. His pre-BigGovernment career included many months working to launch The Huffington Post. (He had been a researcher for Arianna Huffington in the early 1990s, before he joined Drudge, when both of them were still conservatives.) “I wanted the world to see what the Left and the Los Angeles/Manhattan salons had to think about national politics,” Breitbart told TWI. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant. I thought it would be great for Arianna and I thought it would be great for the right, because it gave them source material.”

POPSDear Jon Stewart - Please Change Your Name Back to Leibowitz This is a great opinion piece! If you read the whole article, you'll even get a nod to Michael Jackson and the author's affirmation of the importance of making our external image line up with our internal self-identity. Our bigotry as a society will subside only when those of us who don't subscribe in one way or another to the majority have the courage to be ourselves. This is fundamental to queer theory, diversity, and multi-culturalism...but the costs of facing social ostracization are steep. Be brave everyone! The world needs to be a place where individuals can be themselves at every level!

POPSStewart the most trusted newsman on TV This shows a lot about the intelligence of those who voted in the poll, as well as distrust towards MSM as a whole. Voters should have been asked if they actually knew the difference between a comedian and newscaster?

POPSJon Stewart: America's Most Trusted Newsman in Time Poll As Cronkite said, "And that's the way it is". The implications on the MSM are enormous. The poll is called unscientific, but yet the Time article link reveals results for every state. Couric should find another career. The MSM always seem to walk lockstep on the subject of war, usually in support, ever since Cronkite opposed Viet Nam. It is clear they have played a major role in propaganda.

POPSThe Death of the News Media Once people trusted the news. Now, with screaming, lying jackals like Bill O'Reilly as the voices of the so-called "news", it's no wonder people are turning to figures like Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert as their source of accurate, unbiased news of the world. Time for an end to 24 hour cable news; it serves only to feed us minutia and propaganda.

POPSIt's a movie, people! Since the first Potter movie came out there has been this ludicrous panic among some Christians that all their little darlings who view these movies will be recruited by the witch's cabal. And the insanity continues still!

POPSThe victory of the emotions "The ghosts of the French Revolution stir on our continent. Youths on the internet receive a hundred "up-votes" on social news sites for suggesting that bankers should be slain in the streets, a thousand for suggesting the same of Republicans. When discussing the morality of this, the voice of modesty that suggests that rich people, Republicans and Mormons have done nothing deserving of capital punishment is down-voted into oblivion. The idea that members of unpopular groups ought to have human rights, too, is met with the contention that they have forfeited their rights by behaving in unpopular ways.

POPSDems Desperately Trying To Cut and Run From “Torture” Debate Now they’re trying to run away from the topic lest it get more press that they knew about “torture” and railed against it. Worse yet, if the press starts to look at who knew what/when…people might see that yeah, Democrats KNEW about pre-war intel on Iraq, and it wasn’t a case of Bushliedpeopledied (the timeline is 100% clear on this as are the bi-partisan investigations and reports). People might actually realize that Sen Rockefeller misled about a lack of WMD threat because he KNEW what was found. Sen Levin misled about regime ties to Al Queda because he’d been briefed too. All these briefings took place around the same time the torture briefings did. The Daily Show With Jon Stewart http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=227326&title=waffle-house Waffle House Nancy Pelosi denies knowledge of harsh interrogation techniques before slowly parsing her unequivocal denial of never being told.

POPS Once Upon A Time In America b) the Japanese atrocities against helpless civilians, and c) the thousands and thousands of Allied and American servicemen whose lives had been saved by the end of the war. At times, the logic deployed in the debate about “torture” borders on torture itself. Here is Michael Kinsley branding us all as a nation of criminals, for standing by idly as innocent people are randomly plucked off the street. “There is another group that stood by and did nothing while Americans grabbed people off the streets of foreign countries, took them to other foreign countries...and tortured them until they said whatever our government wanted to hear....Millions of people...knew that torture was going on, and voted for Bush anyway...62 million of us voted to reelect George W. Bush in 2004.” So 62 million war criminals voted to have innocent passersby tortured: this does sound serious.
