But by now Donna knows that there are people out there who will not forget, who will not give up until she has found her daughter. Since it's her birthday, maybe some of them will even light a candle for Brandy.

POPSSix Blackwater Guards 'May' Be Charged in Iraq Massacre Immunity and impunity have gone hand in hand. Representative Jim McDermott. "The private contracting thing is the most erosive thing that this administration has done. You look at all the things that are being run by private contractors, you simply cannot be handing money to a private contractor who is not under the law of that country or the law of this country and can do anything they want. They're really -- they're rogue outfits." Blackwater and at least 300 other companies have been hired by the US government for privatized armed services in Iraq to the tune of about $6 billion in taxpayer money..

POPSBush Spy Revelations Anticipated When Obama Is Sworn In
One encouraging sign for civil liberties groups is that John Podesta, president of the Center for American Progress, is a key figure in Obama's transition team, which will staff and set priorities for the new administration. The center was a tough and influential critic of the Bush administration's warrantless spying. Among the unanswered questions: * Were there quid pro quo promises made to the phone companies and internet carriers who cooperated with the secret spying? For example, were co-conspirators promised lucrative government contracts? * Did the program appropriate the CALEA wiretapping infrastructure? Under CALEA, Congress forced telecoms to build surveillance capabilities into the phone and internet network, but promised it would only be used with court orders. * What did the first version of the surveillance program sweep into its net? In March 2004, a squadron of top officials at the Justice Department, including then-Attorney

POPSCitizens Will Risk Arrest to Bring Indictment of Bush and Cheney In April 2008, Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to "immediately review the information that's already there" and determine if an inquiry is warranted. It is the responsibility of citizens to make sure this happens. Chief Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Tribunals following World War II, stated, "let me make clear that while this law is first applied against German aggressors, the law includes, and if it is to serve a useful purpose it must condemn aggression by any other nations, including those which sit here now in judgement." It is time, no matter who becomes our next president, to bring the criminals of the Bush regime to justice. We, the people, have the power and we can restore justice. Our group would include someone who was directly affected by the illegal invasion of Iraq.

POPSThe Obama "Alinskyite" Realignment Watch what Michael Barone called the Obama "thugocracy" use the Justice Department to stifle dissent. Anybody who complains about vote fraud will be charged with "vote suppression." Anybody who complains about DoJ's actions will be charged with interfering with an investigation. Anybody who denies having interfered will be charged with perjury. Likewise, anybody who peacefully protests abortion clinics or the use of state-sponsored racial quotas will be charged with a civil rights violation. And the accused won't be able to look to the Supreme Court for help: Anthony Kennedy's "evolving standards" of justice will evolve to match the new zeitgeist, providing a 5-4 majority for the administration. Meanwhile, of course, Obama's other appointments will be filling up the rest of the judiciary at a rapid clip, with nobody able to stop them.

POPS Reasons Not to Vote for Barack Obama, In His Own Words . . . . . . . . Obama’s now infamous “Spread the wealth.” And in an interview with ABC News, anchor Charlie Gibson asked, “ n each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down. So why raise it given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected? “ Obama says: “Well, Charlie, what I've said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.” Obama’s view of the First Amendment? Threats of criminal libel prosecutions, Justice Department intimidation, and no promise to veto the “Fairness Doctrine” if Congress passes it. Obama’s view of Iran, currently building nuclear reactors? “Iran … tiny … pose a serious threat to us. Michelle Obama’s views about her husband running for President? “It’s way too soon. He hasn’t done anything yet

POPSLA Police Fail to Use Funds to Test Rape Kit
US: LA Police Fail to Use Funds to Test Rape Kit "Why add to the suffering of rape victims by making them wait years to investigate and prosecute their cases -- or letting a prosecution go forward without this evidence?" said Sarah Tofte, a US Program researcher at Human Rights Watch who is researching the rape-kit backlog in Los Angeles and around the country. "The department needs to use its own budget and any future grants to make sure the job gets done." Timely testing of rape kits can be critical to bringing justice to sexual assault victims. It is often difficult to solve or prosecute a rape case effectively without this forensic evidence. Furthermore, under California law, there is no statute of limitations for bringing a case if the rape kit is tested within two years. But if it is not tested in that time frame, the statute of limitations is 10 years. "I want to thank Human Rights Watch for effectively pushing this issue into the forefront of the public arena," sai

POPSWisconsin Court Rejects Lawsuit Challenging New Voters; AG Vows to Appeal Sometimes the political system makes me sad. Continuing, "The GAB said conducting such matches before November would cast doubt on the eligibility of voters based solely on unreliable databases and would create chaos for overworked election officials who would have to further investigate the discrepancies to determine the eligibility of voters ... HAVA doesn't specify any penalty for not matching; it leaves it to states to decide what to do ... Shortly thereafter, on September 10, Van Hollen, sued, on the basis that the state was violating HAVA by not conducting matches of records. Wisconsin planned to conduct matches only on voters who registered after August 6, 2008, when the statewide registration database became operational. The attorney general sued to get the state to retroactively match all voters who registered since Jan. 1, 2006, which the GAB said would involve about 1.23 million voters."

POPSObama Gets Tough on Voter Fraud-- Prosecutors Obama's get tough policy to fight voter fraud prosecutors is another fine example of his tough on crime stance. There is no crime too nefarious to not get protection from the Obama campaign. As long as you are a supporter of the 'chosen one' then you are a friend of this democrat. There are none too nefarious nor controversial that are not welcome in the Obama camp. All criminals are welcomed with open arms along with arsonists, domestic terrorist, and dictatorial tyrants. Felons after all are being given the right to vote along with illegal immigrants and other law breakers. OBAMA the friend of the fiends and felons. A tireless opposer of anyone who attempts to fight crime.

POPSJohn McCain met with Chilean Dictator with no preconditions At the time of the meeting, in the late afternoon of December 30, the U.S. Justice Department was seeking the extradition of two close Pinochet associates for an act of terrorism in Washington DC, the 1976 assassination of former ambassador to the US and former Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier. The car bombing on Sheridan Circle in the U.S. capital was widely described at the time as the most egregious act of international terrorism perpetrated on U.S. soil by a foreign power.
