POPSBritains awful immigration laws Illegally in the country- driving a motor vehicle illegally - no insurance and no bloody right to be here except this dick produces sperm that works. Send the whole family to Pakistan and let his kids ask him what Britain is like. Charge the wife with aiding and abetting a miscreant, or, make the wife pay every penny she ever receives to the family of the deceased. And still deport this illegal. When the Immigration Authority talk of this killer's human rights, they were not talking of his victim's human rights.

POPSHawaii Drops Universal Health Care Plan A preview of our coming healthcare future? Of course. Why in the world have your kids on your company's health care when its "free" through the government. And you will be paying for it whether your kids are in it or not. Any rational being would drop their private health insurance like a shot.

POPSYou're in Good Hands... with computer games Allstate insurance has contracted Posit Science to deliver its InSight software to older drivers to help them improve their cognitive abilities. So tell the kids they have to get off the joystick so granddad can do his homework.

POPSSocialism for Dummies Any politician who votes to bail out Wall Street titans while simultaneously telling average Americans to suck it up and tighten their belts should be booted from office. Any politician who claims taxes can continue to be cut in the face of the gargantuan debt we are about to take on should be shown the door. The chatter in the business world is that a “new model” of finance must emerge from the ruins left by the shattering of the old. The same must apply to our politics, too.

POPSThe Infamous Bail-out Of Fannie and Freddie
The R Party has contended for 30 years that anything appearing to slant towards socialism is EVIL. Feed a hungry child "NO THAT'S SOCIALISM". Universal Health Care "NO THAT'S SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, I want no part of that". The "R" Party's mantra is a loud MAKE GOV. SO SMALL YOU CAN DROWN IT IN A BATHTUB. But when it comes to Corp. bail-outs, which is another name for Corporate Socialism QUICK PULL THAT GOV-GUY OUT OF THE TUB AND APPLY CPR... It's enough to blow your mind! I've put together some TV clips and article excerpts to illustrate the hypocrisy of our gov. A saga of the U.S. Bail-out of 2 mortgage giants Freddie & Fannie. I guess the SHOW MUST GO ON. Next time you hear an "R" person yodel "IT'S NOT OUR DUTY TO HELP THE POOR", and "WE WON'T STAND FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE". Tell them to think about all the Big Bucks our gov. has spent bailing out the Fat Cats and see if they will then say "Socialism is a dirty word, it's EVIL!". Yeah, right, but only if you're POOR.

POPSWhy Americans Are Shunning Hollywood’s Wares
aside to make movies that embody traditional values, it often scores big with the public. Consider 2004’s Spider-Man 2, a sequel far better than the original. The movie is a fable about duty and heroism. The movie resonated powerfully with the public, grossing a whopping $374 million domestically, and it took in another $400 million or so overseas. Factor in DVD sales, and you’re getting close to a billion-dollar movie. The Incredibles affectionately embraces the bourgeois family, flaws and all. The Parrs have their difficulties: teenager Violet is sullen, the kids fight, Mom and Dad bicker, Bob hates his drab insurance job, but for the Parr kids, the family bond is all-important. Pixar’s 2003 runaway winner Finding Nemo, the movie shows children “what adults are supposed to do,” writes author Frederica Mathewes-Green on National Review Online—“to be brave and self-sacrificing, to defend children even at risk to themselves, to give, even in the face of ingratitude.”

POPSThe fine line between our public & private lives online Here is another article about how public and private lives are no longer being separated on the web. I have discussions about this all the time with my friends and peers about the etiquette and propriety needed online, especially in a field where so many kids can find you if you are not careful. Our behavior online is so important now because, as I have recently experienced, it is so easy for my students to find me online. I have resorted to putting a lot of things "private" or "friends & family only" and am using a social networking blog site that has privacy options. I also wonder about when or if there will ever be a line between private and public life. It is disappearing. Insurance & employers are penalizing individuals who smoke AT HOME and employers are viewing individuals MySpace or Facebook pages. When does it stop? Will it? When is it viewed as encroaching on individuals rights or lives?

POPSShamefull Religious Intollerance That people would be so transparently discriminatory is honestly surprising to me, although it shouldn't be. There is no right to force non-Christians to recite Christian prayers in American public schools. There is no right to put God in the plege. Just like I have no right to force Christians to leave offerings before the statues of the Buddha. But don't get me wrong. This isn't about Christianity. Christianity no where condones this abhorrent and intolerant behavior. This is about the power of discrimination, and it is an addictive social phenomenon. These people would do the exact same thing with another religion. Christianity was just the most convenient vehicle for their hatred at the time. Apparently we still need to change a lot about our society before we can live with our neighbors in peace.

POPS$$$ = MONEY 101 = $$$
Start listening to Financial radio shows. Not to take every voice on faith but, alternately, to begin learning to weed out the B.S.'ers from the educators and the range in between. The great mysterious machine called the economy has so many variables and you start to see things above and apart from the politically charged blaming and overly simplistic "explanations" and theories. To the extremist types - the radically anti-business - you can get back to learning what makes for good economic function, and dysfunction, and be relieved FINALLY - of the yoke of your political oppositions, freeing you to accept principles your politics may have restricted you from acknowledging. It can be like that WAMU ad where the old bankers are naked and reveling in their new-found freedom. And it works in the philosophical reverse just as easily. The primary goal being to empower those of us who need to remember that there is so much available out there to build our $ future upon. The expectations

POPSBush Lies Again...and again...and again Make no mistake. Bush's real reason for this veto is his indebtedness to his rich friends in the insurance industry. He doesn't care about health care. He cares about profits and an economy based on the doctrines of Milton Friedman. Bush even made remarks to this the last time he vetoed this legislation saying that he would never allow "socialized" medicine in this country. What a dork.

POPSPet versus Gardener 1st thought: If you're so anti-illegal-immigrant, don't hire them. I mean seriously, remember how elementary and middle school kids earned money just a decade ago? They did garden work and childcare for the neighbors. We let the 12-year-old boy down the street do our raking, mowing, and clipping and pay him better than my Venezuelan neighbors pay their Mexican gardener. And I have confidence that the money will be reinvested into our local economy...probably the GameStop store down the street, knowing him. Did $250,000 not cover his bills and a substantial "emotional cost"?

POPSTobacco industry campaigning against childrens healthcare. Both sides seem keenly aware of the high stakes of the debate, the only ballot measure of its kind in the country this year. Tobacco companies, led by Philip Morris and R.J. Reynolds, have spent nearly $12 million, making it the most expensive ballot measure campaign in the state's history.

POPSHeat Or Eat? So the choice for many poor will be between sick children, starving or freezing to death?? Oh well, no worries. America will take it all in it's stride. The poor can always just wrap themselves in the flag to keep warm. Or they can join the military! They say it's really hot over there in the desert. In any case, not to worry. If America is going down, at least it will be doing it in a blaze of *glory*. Now, where were we? Oh yeah ... "Support the troops". Yay. :(

POPSRECORD PROFITS FOR HEALTH INSURANCE CO. The health Insurance Business (or maybe a better word would be racket) is earning profits that are going through the roof. (According to the New York Times, overall the insurance industry expects to earn about sixty billion dollars in profit. This comes after the insurance industry earned forty-three billion dollars last year in spite of natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.) Hmmmm, I wonder where all these profits are coming from...? You guessed it, right out of our "barely can afford health insurance" pockets. Are you listening Mr. VETO KIDS HEATH INSURANCE, BUSH and your loyalists who helped you maintain your veto, on the Republican side of the isle! I doubt it... Since 2004. he never has nor ever will listen to the masses who put him where he is. He doesn't need them anymore, since he cannot run for re-election, so why should he listen to their pleas.

POPSSinking SCHIP It's ridiculous to think that the Frosts, who own over $400,000 in real estate and send their kids to private school, should get health care dollars from my pocket.

POPSConservatives target 12-year-old boy and his family in S-CHIP debate
What kind of people go after a poor twelve year old kid and his family? Usually I have some respect for both sides (or at least I respect them both equally), but this is just unconscionable. As the article goes on to say: "Now, when dealing with a large group of conservatives who oppose healthcare for poor children on principle, I suppose it’s best to keep expectations low. But this is perhaps the most vile smear the right has launched in recent memory. The Frosts are not political candidates. They are not publicity-seekers. They are not political players of any kind. This is a family who can’t afford healthcare for their kids who need it, and they showed courage asking the president to do what’s right for other families in similar circumstances." Cynics, whom I generally hold in high regard when it comes to politics, like Malkin, ought to step back and look themselves in the mirror. Lambaste the Dems for using the family, but don't go after poor folks and their 12 year old.

POPSFull of SCHIP This is the family the Democrats chose to represent SCHIP? If there was a more perfect family why SCHIP should not be expanded its this one. They are doing quite well with their own business, a 3000 square foot house with a beautiful kitchen And on top of all that they send their kids to private school. Now this is what our tax dollars should be going to!
