POPSAnderson Valley Boont Amber Ale The Boont Amber Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville, California pours out a deep, rich, reddish amber with good clarity and a two finger, off-white head that hangs around for a few minutes. On the nose aromas of black tea, malty grain and a subtle sweetness. In the mouth flavors of sweet malt balanced by pine and flowery hops that show more towards the end. Some iced tea like flavors too with a touch of spice.

POPSReal Beer vs. Leading Brands Leading brands in beer are the equivalent of fast food (McBeer), whereas micro and regional brands are like home cooked food in comparison. This break down of types of beer is helpful. Clipped a few favorites (a bock, ale, and lager) whose taste is superb and ingredients so much better. Shiner Bock makes an excellent traditional German bock beer in Texas and the good taste of Sierra (Pale Ale) is hard to beat. Local micro breweries are hard to beat in various cities offering their own. I wonder how many people know that the Pilgrims favorite drink was beer, which they preferred over water, and even traded some guns to obtain.
