POPSBarney Frank Wants Cabinet Post Frank talks about how he struggled as a gay man growing up in blue-collar Bayonne, N.J. He dated women throughout high school and college, but knew he was gay at 13. Still, he delayed revealing his sexuality until he had established a foothold in the House. In the 501-page tome " to be released later this month " Frank is described by people who know him well as a masterful legislator, an impatient boss, and “socially handicapped.” One of the most riveting parts of the book is Frank’s recollection of his ethics scandal, when he paid a male prostitute for sex. Various media outlets called for Frank to resign, but he persevered by admitting his mistakes and asking the ethics committee to investigate him in 1989. Many Republicans, including then-Rep. Larry Craig (Idaho), called for serious sanctions against Frank, who was ultimately reprimanded by the House, 408-18. (California Democratic Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman both voted against the measure.)

POPSPrescription For Disaster: Obama Promises Tax Hikes During A Recession In October, Amil Amani at the American Thinker wrote, "Obama's economic plan is a recipe for long-lasting disaster. Keep in mind that wrecking anything, as opposed to building things, requires very little time and effort. Obama's plan is deceptively attractive, while in reality it is a huge wrecking ball that will capsize the already listing ship of our economy..." And The Wall Street Journal: "Business Finally Fights Back - The business community is back in politics. After years of contented political gridlock, American companies are now officially horrified at what an all-Democratic Washington intends to inflict on the U.S. economy. The Chamber is throwing its extensive resources at denying the left a filibuster-proof Senate. In doing so, it has stuck its finger in the Democratic leadership's beehive, and is facing retribution..."

POPS Google's Power Play
Google’s higher calling comes directly from co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, both ardent environmentalists. But it’s made real by the same moxie that has driven Google to create digital editions of 7 million books, with scant concern for copyright issues, and to amass satellite images of almost all of the earth’s nooks and crannies. “We only hire people who really, genuinely believe that big change is possible and the right thing to do,” says Erik Teetzel, a 34-year-old Google engineer who heads a team of researchers looking for ways to produce cheap renewable energy. Still, now doesn’t seem like an ideal time for Google to be making such an ambitious move. Oil prices are down, eradicating much of the demand for alternatives to fossil fuels. A global economic downturn means many companies now consider green technology a luxury they can’t afford. Google has never been very successful at diversifying its business; 97 percent of its revenue still comes from online ads.

POPSWonderful images relayed by satellites dotted around the globe Once upon a time, in the far, far away land of Techgeeks lived two university pals named Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They spent long hours dreaming of a company that one day would be the biggest search engine in the world, offering mere mortals the opportunity to traverse the great plains of the planet without moving their lazy asses.

POPSMissing Emails: What is the White House Hiding? Secrecy is not a mark of trustworthy government, and please do not say this was an accident and that the White House really is trying to recover anything. This is too convenient, since 'executive privelege" claims did not work. By the way, CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) is a non-partisan group that went after Larry Craig and is not beholden to either Dems or Repubs, but goes after ALL corruption of either party like pit bulls.

POPS Apple Edges Out Google Google's shares, which topped $700 late last year, have settled back to just over $500 - but the company's founders, Sergey Brin, 34, and Larry Page, 35, remain billionaires who travel the world on a customised Boeing 767. The pair see conquering space as their next challenge and have put up a $20m prize to anyone who produces a privately financed spacecraft able to land on the moon.

POPSNothing you do ever goes away... Google Street View still worries people, especially parents who have to see pictures of children playing in the yard. One member can see his kid playing at his parents' house and wonders "if a big NOINDEX NOCACHE sign in the front yard would work." (My guess: the Google Street View driver doesn't know what that would even mean.)

POPSKhan Nuke Smuggling Network Has Ties to Pentagon & "Israeli Elements"
This is what Drudge and the Wash Post do not tell you about the Khan network: 2000-2001: Nuclear Proliferation Network Penetrates Pentagon with Help of Senior Officials A nuclear proliferation network operating in the US penetrates the Pentagon and related institutions, according to FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds. The network, which is run by Pakistani scientist A. Q. Khan, but also includes Turkish and Israeli elements, is allegedly helped by a number of senior officials in the Pentagon. Edmonds will later say: “The provided lists of potential moles from Pentagon-related institutions who had access to databases concerning this information... One of the Pentagon figures that is a target of the FBI investigation is Larry Franklin, an analyst who will be jailed in 2006 for passing US defense information to lobbyists According to Edmonds, Franklin is “one of the top people providing information and packages during 2000 and 2001.”[/quo
