POPSNeo-isolationaism More evidence of the truth of a comment I made weeks ago expressing my view that most Neocons are Wilsonian and the dominant view of the Progressive-Leftists is Hooveresque.

POPS The Left vs Free Speech The truly outrageous aspect of such comparisons is that the American left, with its Stalin-redux willingness to rearrange history, neglects to mention that, outside of Japan, all of the 20th century's great totalitarian regimes had roots on the political left. It wasn't just Lenin and Stalin whose propaganda machine prefigured MoveOn. Nazi is an acronym for "National Socialist." Read Mein Kampf. It isn't a tribute to free-market capitalism, folks. Mussolini was a populist. Mao was a leftist, as was Pol Pot. The last century's worst censors and book burners all emerged from leftist ideologies. As this column recently pointed out, Support Our Troops, Bring Them Home! disappeared from the political scene the instant Obama called for sending those troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan, instead of back to Fort Hood. For the hardcore left, the party line always trumps conscience. MoveOn isn't new - it's just Pravda with poor punctuation.

POPSThought Police | The Left vs. Free Speech From the article: The extreme left loves to pretend it stands for freedom. It never has and never will. From the Reign of Terror in Paris onward, its core agenda has been the tyranny of egomaniacal intellectuals. The left pretends that campuses should enjoy freedom of speech, yet activist students shout down, harass and even attack speakers whose views they dislike. That's brownshirt behavior, folks - as surely as show trials are Stalinist. Hardcore leftists never welcome a freewheeling debate - they'd rather force their beliefs on the rest of us. It's an article of faith for the left that folks like you and me are too stupid to know what's good for us (we're so dumb, some of us even believe in God). For many years, the left's tactic was to pretend to care about average citizens. In the last century, the motto was the "dictatorship of the proletariat" Now we have the would-be dictatorship of the pseudo-intellectuals.

POPSWhy is Rush so popular & effective Nice little article about a man who has held the Conservative movement together and gives us hope. When I first heard him, it was on TV many years ago. My jaw dropped as I heard someone say exactly what I thought & felt but with credibility and facts to back up what he was saying. He is an astute student of American history/politics and still has the values of the generations past of America. Plus he's optimistic and I rarely am. :~(

POPSDifference in Aims When people say ( usually Leftists) that Nazism or Fascism are right wing, what they mean is that they are right of Stalin. Progressive-ism and Materialism by any other name is still progressive-ism and materialism.

POPSGoogle Locks Down Anti-Obama Sites On Blogger Platform **UPDATE** I have been hesitant to post this update because I cannot find a link to prove the claim, but it is starting to look like this Blogspot shut down of anti-Obama sites occurred because of a concerted effort by Obama supporters. What they did was go to the Blogspot addresses found on the site of the NoObama coalition called Just Say No Deal and constantly hit the “mark as spam” link so that Google’s Blogger would be flooded with spam warnings. This caused Google/Blogger to freeze the sites marked. Apparently, this campaign merely took advantage of Google/Blogger’s flawed system of finding spam blogs. So, it looks like what we have here is an Obama dirty trick to shut down political opposition. Looks like Obmatons aren’t much for that whole democracy thing, eh? Once I find a link to an Obama site talking about this attack, I will post it.

POPSThree Distinct Strands The hard left is the core left, the armature without which the other factions would fall apart. They are directly descended from the communist groups (the CPUSA, Trotsyites, and so forth) of the ‘30s and ‘40s, through New Left organizations such as the SDS and the Weathermen. The hard left consists of intelligentsia and activists, people who spend their lives reading Alinsky http://www.fraw.org.uk/library/002/anarchism/alinsky_radical.html and Gramsci http://www.marxists.org/archive/gramsci/intro.htm and trying their damndest to put those dicta into practice. They are usually found in universities and surrounding communities, though they are also present in left-wing think tanks and lobbying outfits. Most of us will go through life without ever knowingly encountering one of them. Through their intellectual control over the much larger wimp left (who would be utterly lost without their direction), they possess influence all out of proportion to their numbers.

POPSThe effect and goal of progressive bias in education Bruce Walker: "The Nazis also warned parents that children who went to religious schools would be discriminated against in employment." "What happened in the 1930s in Nazi Germany, however, was preceded by what happened in Oregon in 1922. The Ku Klux Klan supported and passed the Compulsory Education Law which required that parents send their children to public schools and not private schools. The avowed purpose of this law was to get children "while their minds are plastic" and to turn the child into "a true American." "Many on the Left today see public education as primarily a mechanism to mold children into people who will better fit into the vision that these Leftists have for America. Those tinkerers should know what good company they keep: they are following in the footsteps of Nazi Germany and of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Educational monoculture is an invitation to tyranny."

POPSThe World Hates America? Dennis Prager: "There is another obvious argument against the belief that the world hates America: Many millions of people would rather live in America than in any other country. How does the left explain this? Why would people want to come to a country they loathe? Why don't people want to live in Sweden or France as much as they wish to live in America? Those are rich and free countries, too." "The answer is that most people know there is no country in the world more accepting of strangers as is America. After three generations, people who have emigrated to Germany or France or Sweden do not feel -- and are not regarded as -- fully German, French or Swedish. Yet, anyone of any color from any country is regarded as American the moment he or she identifies as one. The country that the left routinely calls "xenophobic" and "racist" is in fact the least racist and xenophobic country in the world."

POPSI REALLY want to like this guy.
Going more on general "feeling" and a lack of research on my own part, I "sense"(?), hope(?) that Obama does turn out to be more of a real-world, moderate with common-sense, goodwill, and strength when necessary, than some have declared him to be. Not a good basis for my decision is it? I know. Still, after McCain's disgusting display of dishonesty in the debates (smearing Romney) on one hand,...and the distasteful (putting it mildly) notion of the Clintons on the other, there is a lot to like about Barack Obama. Here is his chance to show what his stuff is. Most troublesome, however, are some of the aides and advisors, not to mention the radical leftists of the population who could over-react with a disproportionate sense of inflated power and grandeur, were he to be elected. At this, for me still, somewhat ignore-ant point in my insight into the man, I have found myself hoping Barak Obama survives the process, and comes through CLEANLY. One huge measure is how he responds to

POPSOPPOSE "Net Neutrality" And The Misnamed "Internet Freedom Preservation Act" H.R. 5353 As Jason Wright of the Institute for Liberty noted, "The leftist MoveOn.org coalition claims that so-called 'Net Neutrality' rules are the 'First Amendment' for the internet. In fact, the exact opposite is true. The unprecedented regulation MoveOn lobbies for limits innovation by restricting certain businesses from the option of seeking more reliable connections to support advanced services like VoIP or IPTV."

POPSSyrian Bashar Assad Suckers Senator Obama (They are “victims” of Zionism, they aren’t pro-American like those icky “right-wing” bourgeois Maronite Christians, etc.) Some of these Hezbollah supporters, tragically, are journalists. They put me in the right-wing “imperialist” and “orientalist” camp for no more than saying what Barack Obama just said. Obama’s problem isn’t that he’s on the wrong side. His problem is he’s the latest in a seemingly limitless supply of naïve Westerners who think they can reason with Syria’s tyrant Bashar Assad. Read the rest in Commentary Magazine.

POPSIran Strengthens South America Ties Old article from Sept. 2007. Clipped to remind us that Iran is extending it's influence into oil-rich dictatorships in the Southern Hemisphere. Some may minimize this and other such events. However, that's not very wise considering his very open hatred against all things American.

POPSRepublicans: Crazy, Or Nuts?
Who in their right mind would argue with the observations in this article? More: "The Republican Party has become an aggregation of people who prefer to live in a world of fantasy -- and their first fantasy, the Ur-myth on which the entire conceit rests, is (classically) "we are the realists." "It degrades, into farce and Newspeak, from there. The perpetrators and defenders of the outing of a CIA agent are "patriots." Tom DeLay is a "leader" and Newt Gingrich is a "visionary." The President plays guitar while New Orleans drowns, causes a hundred thousand Americans and Iraqis to be killed or injured, and outsources torture, and it's the Democrats who, per the repellent Ramesh Ponnuru, are the "party of death." "It has gotten so that you have to muster all the compassion and understanding of which you are capable just to think of the Republicans as a party of greedy corporatists manipulating the credulous, the provincial, and the bigoted. That's the nice way of putting it.”

POPSThey aren't Conservatives, they are Authoritarians Which is the point to sociologist Altmeyer's book, who has been researching authoritarianism for thirty years, and can now publish a popular work (for free) because he's about to retire and can't be fired for his temerity.

POPSThe Problem For Our Country By David Horowitz: few on the left have considered it necessary to engage my work except to ridicule and slander me, as a way of warning others not to take the issues I raise seriously – in short, to “crush” me (as Soros puts it), and eliminate me from the discussion

POPSRon Paul's Fair Weather Friends The involvement of MoveOn.org in the Paul campaign can be confirmed on their page at Meetup.com where they are shown as co-sponsoring a number of the regional Ron Paul meetups and they have also released a video ad in support of Paul. Paul's campaign has also received positive public response from a variety of prominent leftists, including Cindy Sheehan. One socialist in the Netherlands of all places, makes a compelling argument for why US socialists should support Ron Paul. Most Republicans see the objectives of MoveOn.org as inherently antithetical to the basic beliefs of the Republican Party. MoveOn.org is an openly anti-Republican, anti-Conservative and anti-Libertarian organization http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/11/30/002906.php
