POPSConservative attitudes abroad. After watching Channel 4 expose of Cameron's Millions, even their sister/brother political party in Canada appear to be getting on the 'avoiding answering questions' bandwagon. Dispatches reporter Antony Barnett investigates the funding of the Tories under Cameron and examines how the party is using its newfound resources to ensure its leader becomes the next Prime Minister. Barnett examines how funds are being ploughed into marginal seats that hold the key to a Cameron victory and his investigation raises fresh questions about some of the party's largest backers. Barnett also scrutinises David Cameron's promises of "openness and transparency," with the methods the Tory leader is using to attract donations. It just goes on and on and on and on...this selectivity of sleaze.

POPS Inside Obama’s Acorn ....with a “1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism” to match. Acorn, says Stern, grew out of “one of the New Left’s silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.” The theory, explains Stern, was that an impossibly overburdened welfare system would force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.” Instead of a socialist utopia, however, we got the culture of dependency and family breakdown that ate away at America’s inner cities — until welfare reform began to turn the tide. he targets and strategy have changed. Acorn prefers to fly under the national radar, organizing locally in liberal urban areas — where, local legislators and reporters are often “slow to grasp how radical Acorn’s positions really are.” In Your Face Just think of Code Pink’s well-known operations (threatening to occupy congressional offices, interrupting the testimony of General David Petraeus) and you’ll get the idea.

POPSDemocrats In Congress Eye Emergency Bailout — And More But that’s just a start. • Bankruptcy protection for homeowners. Some Democrats see this bill as a golden opportunity to renew their push.... • Social spending and infrastructure funds. The most liberal Democrats are pushing to have an economic stimulus package — with unemployment extensions, infrastructure spending and aid to states — tacked on to the bill. Democratic aides said that more stringent regulations and perhaps a crackdown on CEO compensation is a longer term discussion that may need to wait. • Foreclosure protection. Dodd was intentionally vague when he insisted on foreclosure protection for homeowners..... Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio) said, “We have to communicate the fact that if the big guys fail, then your savings, your retirement, your mortgage will be in trouble.” On the opposite end of the spectrum, “It would be a huge problem if the package were used that way ,” Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) said.

POPSEthically Bankrupt Virtually all the mistakes have been caused by errors in regulation — not by "corporate greed," as liberal Democrats would have it. Corporations follow the signals and guidelines set by Washington. When those are faulty, bad things happen and taxpayers pay. Remember this, too, when Congress cranks up hearings and vilifies one CEO after another for "looting" their companies. It was Congress that created the subprime crisis. Any promises that it makes to solve it should be viewed with serious skepticism. Dirksen would have been impressed. By our count, that's about $2 trillion, or 14%, of a $14 trillion economy. How did it happen? One case after another has been made for intervention in the private economy, based on the principle that some private-sector financial institutions, such as Bear Stearns and AIG, are "too big to fail." If they did fail, it would lead to a financial market catastrophe — or what the Fed on Wednesday referred to as "disorderly failure."

POPSMcCain Surrogate Accuses Obama of Absenteeism Hypocrisy, thy initials are GOP. This also highlights something I've been saying; Republicans are bad on the economy because they suck at math and logic. First, 45.5% is there more often than gone, Lindsey gets it backward. Second, if Obama's "never challenged his own party to do anything different," how can he possibly be the most liberal senator ? I know that Team McCain's having trouble keeping his positions consistent, but if they could just keep their talking points in agreement, it'd be a big improvement.

POPSHope and Change—for McCain [Victor Davis Hanson] He played well off the serial Obama gaffes like the tire-pressure sermon, while solidifying the base on abortion, drilling, and now his VP pick. He looks the relaxed candidate with the magnanimous reference to Obama's nomination in contrast to the herky-jerky ankle-biting from the Obama handlers over the Palin appointment. Now the pairing of the septuagenarian warhorse, alongside the youthful mom of five from Alaska contrasts well with two doom and gloom, DC natty liberal senators. The 72-year old McCain is still running behind the Messiah, and who knows whether the sudden 3.3 GDP good news on the economy, the stability in Iraq, and cooling off of gas price spikes will hold or play a role. But given the Democratic dynamics this year, the overt bias of the media, and the rock-star quality of Obama, being this close as September nears is a tribute to McCain's toughness and the savvy of his staff.

POPSImportant World Event! Please Consider Watching, Thanks. Argentina's Economic Collapse Documentary on the events that led to the economic collapse of Argentina in 2001 which wiped out the middle class and raised the level of poverty to 57.5%. Central to the collapse was the implementation of neo-liberal policies which enabled the swindle of billions of dollars by foreign banks and corporations. Many of Argentina's assets and resources were shamefully plundered. Its financial system was even used for money laundering by Citibank, Credit Suisse, and JP Morgan. The net result was massive wealth transfers and the impoverishment of society which culminated in many deaths due to oppression and malnutrition.

POPSIslamic world should learn from Turkey court ruling its relations with the United States have frayed over the past few years. CNN: Why is that? Zakaria: Mostly because of the Bush administration. The Pentagon never forgave Turkey for not allowing a second front (through Turkey) for the invasion of Iraq.

POPSFACT: US economy does better under Democrats Graphic proof: Democratic admins usually bring growth in jobs, GDP, and stock values; Repub admins bring deficits, greater gap between rich and poor. If blue-collar Americans ever understand this, it'll be mighty bad news for Republicans.

POPSFreedom Towers - Socialist Government in Action "We can count on government planners to produce the most inefficient projects conceivable by the human mind. Manhattan’s Freedom Tower, intended to rise on the site of 9/11 destruction, is an egregious example . . . ...New York City, the nation’s most socialistically ingrained municipality, in the nation’s premier socialist state, has a long history of public works boon-doggles, of which the Freedom Tower is just the latest. The standard government-planning way to do this is to spend the maximum possible amount of public funds, for the longest possible time, and employ the maximum possible number of unionized workers at the highest imaginable wages. This promotes full employment for voters and life-time tenure for politicians holding the benefits slop buckets at the public pig-feeding trough..." Good grief I'm glad I don't live in that Hell hole of a state.

POPSClark Not Backing Down The piece goes on: "The only orchestration was by Republicans," Clark said, referring to unsubstantiated accusations that his criticism was encouraged by Obama, who has repeatedly distanced himself from Clark's remark. "I think that since John McCain's hired the Swift Boat team to protect his military record," Clark continued, "they just decided they would launch a preemptive strike." McCain has recruited Swift Boater Bud Day to serve on his "Truth Squad." The hypocrisy of that is massive...

POPSThanks AP And ABC News For Spinning Liberal Bias My argument is bolstered further by the authors' ridiculous description of the weather as "out-of-control." They would have you believe that until eight years ago, when a certain Republican became President of the United States, the country had never experienced hurricanes, tornadoes, extremely high and low temperatures, and floods. The weather has been calm for the billions of years of the earth's existence and then suddenly, boom! The weather's out of control. AND we can make the weather not be out of control (i.e., if we elect a certain Democrat president .) Really, this article is an absolute embarrassment in every way. A DNC press release couldn't be more biased. There is positively nothing the least bit objective about this article. It's a string of hysterical unsubstantiated Democrat talking points.

POPS Only As Strong As The Weakest Link
Beyond policies, though, a president should unite, not divide; however, Obama’s severe case of liberalism segregates the country into left and right. Rep. Dan Boren (D-Okla.) recently stated he might vote for Obama, but he refuses to endorse him. Why? Because the congressman believes Obama is the most exclusive club’s liberalist. As such, he doesn’t believe he can represent his constituency if he endorses the Democratic nominee. Others have joined the Boren ranks. If he can’t convince his own party to band together, how will he unite a country? Failing to acknowledge weaknesses does not translate into an absence of flaws, and finding the strongest links doesn’t prevent the chain from breaking. We have the choice to either anticipate the weak link or we can wait … wait until the last moment when the chain is most strained … wait until the instant the country is most vulnerable … wait until it can no longer hold … wait until it snaps. POPSAl Gore Is Bad For The Planet
Iain Murray's rollicking exposé of environmental blowhards who waste more energy, endanger more species, and actually kill more people, than the environmental villains they finger. Did you know that estrogen from birth control and"morning after" pills is causing male fish across America to develop female sex organs? Funny how "pro-choice" and "environmentalist" liberals never talk about that. Or how about this: the Live Earth concert to "save the planet" released more CO2 into the atmosphere than a fleet of 2,000 Humvees emit in a year? We hear a lot about AIDS in Africa, but the number one killer of children in much of Africa is malaria-and guess who was responsible for banning the pesticide that used to have malaria under control? Iain Murray, a sprightly conservative environmental analyst with a long record of skewering liberal hypocrisy, has dug up seven of the environmental catastrophes caused by the Left and exposed them in The Really Inconvenient Truths.

POPSWhat a liberal would do... It is funny that the libs are after John McCain when doing nothing is exactly what the economy needs. What do HIllary and Barack want to do...more government. Did these two ever crack open an economics textbook?

POPSWe Are Making Our Selves, OUR NATION, POORER - And Other Nations RICHER. If we drill in these places then we will lower the cost of energy WORLDWIDE and that will help the world's economy. IT'S A WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN: We make more money; we send less overseas to unsavory nations; we lower our costs and the energy costs of the whole world - and it doesn't harm the environment one iddy-biddy bit. SO WHY DON'T WE DO THIS!? Where's the leadership from Bush!? WHY HASN'T MCCAIN SPOKEN OUT ABOUT THIS!? Where's the freakin' Congressional GOP!? Useless.

POPSWho Is “Fascist”?The abuse and proper use of a political label
In Germany, the Nazis followed in the wake of the Italian Fascists, adding racism in general and anti-Semitism in particular, neither of which was part of Fascism in Italy or in Franco’s Spain. In short, during the 1920s and the early 1930s, Fascism was not only looked on favorably by the Left but recognized as having kindred ideas, agendas, and assumptions. The Nazi variant of Fascism found favor on the Left in the 1920s. Only after Hitler and Mussolini disgraced themselves, mainly by their brutal military aggressions in the 1930s, did the Left distance itself from these international pariahs. Fascism, initially recognized as a kindred ideology of the Left, has since come down to us defined as being on “the Right"— supposedly further extensions of conservatism If by conservatism you mean belief in free markets, limited government, and traditional morality, including religious influences, then these are all things that the Fascists opposed just as much as the Left does t

POPS"False hopes?" Obama told a crowd "There's no such thing." Meanwhile the authoritarian Putin has punkishly succeeded in restoring Russia to its inglorious heritage, reminding the world of the old formula that capitalism plus state power equals fascism. In Iran, none of Ahmadinejad's domestic troubles seem to have modified the state's sense of ascendancy, or its will to nuclearize itself, or its appetite for instability in its region. In Iraq, the streets are safer but the sects are not sweeter. In the Korean peninsula, diplomacy has gone ominously cold. In Palestine there are two Palestines, and one of them belongs to Hamas. In Darfur--well, you know, because everybody knows. In Latin America, the failures of liberal economics have sullied the reputation of liberal politics. And so on. And into this unirenic environment strides Obama, pledging to extract us promptly from Iraq and to negotiate with our enemies. What is the role of a conciliator in an unconciliating world?

POPS'Tragic protest' of Iraqi Kurdish women "When Saddam's regime was in power he did everything to subordinate women" "The Anfal Campaign against the Kurds was exactly like that. He actually killed all the men but let the women stay and live that sort of misery with their children. There was 30 years of that kind of rule. It will take a long, long time for that to change. It is a very slow and painful process." The human rights minister in the Kurdistan region admits that immolation is a problem that his government is struggling to deal with There have been attempts to improve education and women's shelters have been built, but it will take years to change long-held customs.

POPSMommy Fascism ( or Statism, if you like ) "When we get to today's liberal fascism Jonah (Goldberg) describes what I would like to call mommy fascism. The fascism of the 1930s was a daddy fascism featuring a militarized command economy and smart CCC uniforms with everyone marching in step. Mommy fascism is different and Jonah takes the reader through Hillary Clinton's It Takes a Village to show how it works." "If Orwell's 1984 described a masculine dystopia then Clinton's Village echoes the feminine dystopia of Brave New World "where man is smothered with care, not cruelty" from the very cradle. "

POPSIt's Not Easy Being Ultra-Rich The poor whine about having no home at all, or maybe a two-bedroom apartment for a family of six. They should just think for one moment that it's damn expensive to be rich. Consider the costs of maintaining up to five different homes, some of them up to 45,000 square feet in size, most with tennis courts and wine cellars requiring constant supervision. For example, if the boss is in Palm Beach and wants to send his jet to New York to pick up a Chateau LaTour from his South Hampton cellar, the butler makes it happen . A mean-spirited critic might grumble that the rich should simply find a new circle of friends. But if you were in the $100-million-in-assets set, you could hardly consort with the class of people for whom a pittance like $10,000 might be a transformative sum, possibly allowing granny to get her insulin. People of that class could not be trusted not to pocket the silverware in your powder room. L.q.

POPSUS/Bush Warned: Learn from Rome That's what 6 years of conservative rule will get you. “Sound familiar?” Mr Walker said. “In my view, it’s time to learn from history and take steps to ensure the American Republic is the first to stand the test of time.” Mr Walker’s views carry weight because he is a non-partisan figure in charge of the Government Accountability Office, often described as the investigative arm of the US Congress. While most of its studies are commissioned by legislators, about 10 per cent – such as the one containing his latest warnings – are initiated by the comptroller general himself.
