POPSMcCain's "overhead projector" debate comment Actually referred to the Zeiss planetarium projection system at the world-famous Adler Planetarium, which is falling into disrepair, and no longer has replacement parts. Here's a pic of the "overhead projector." Planetariums in NY and LA have already rec'd federal funding to replace Zeiss systems. They don't sell them at OfficeMax.

POPSKara Walker Art Exhibit "My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor" I had the good fortune to see Kara Walker's exhibit at the Hammer Museum hear in Los Angeles. I'm not an artist, nor do I have an educational background in art, but I have to say I was beyond impressed with her work. Her pieces are undoubtedly controversial, especially in an era where I've actually heard people say out loud "There is no racism" and "forget slavery...it was so long ago!" Her artwork, a mix of murals, sketches, wall projections, puppetry, and video made me think deeply about the existence -both past and present- of oppression in the forms of racism and patriarchy. I proudly hale Kara Walker as one bad ass Invincible Sista.

POPS"Disneyland" Comes to Baghdad Part of Reconstruction is distraction. It has worked well in the U.S. since the Civil War. It seems real insulting to the average Iraqi that there is "a shortage of entertainment" when they are struggling more for clean water, proper sewage, food, and infrastructure that has been destroyed by the U.S. invasion.

POPSone of our own has just won! kudos! Digital art defines the contemporary. The Los Angeles Center For Digital Art is dedicated to the propagation of all forms of digital art, new media, digital video art, net art, digital sculpture, interactive multimedia, and the vast panorama of hybrid forms of art and technology that constitute our moment in culture. We are committed to supporting local, international, emerging and established artists through exposure in our gallery. We have an ongoing schedule of exhibits and competitions, produce editions of wide format archival prints, and collaborate in the production of digital artworks in our studio. As well we are involved with curating digital exhibits at institutions and festivals outside of the LACDA gallery schedule.

POPSBroad Contemporary Art Museum I am pretty excited about checking out the BCAM. There were stories in the LAT & NYT about it this week. I was really intrigued after reading Barbara Krueger's tour. Barbara Krueger is one of my most favorite artists and if she endorses a museum and exhibit well I am right there!

POPSNews is free site The top square shows my folders. Each one has news sources I placed within the folder to review. The second square shows the actual news sources I have chosen. There are some hidden, but only cuz the list is very long. This is a great site to read your news all in one place, choose the sources you want and it makes it easier for submission to your favorite sites, like clipmarks. No bouncing all over the web to find them. Hope you like.
