POPSInside the Meatrix "Wow, you have changed my life with one short cartoon." - Susy. "I saw The Meatrix video recently and it really got me thinking in a completely new direction. I want to be a responsible consumer – not only for my well being but for the well being of all farm animals." Jennifer, Buenos Aires, "I worked in a factory pig farm for six months and seen the cruelty and the same sick pigs I seen in the movie. I have a few free range pigs and they are treated 100% better then those poor animals in the barns. I seen the antibiotics that were needed to keep them "healthy." I tell people that if you ever worked in one of these barns you would never buy pork in the store. Keep up the good work!" - Gloria. "Just wanted to say congrats. That was short, insightful, used an intelligent analogy and made me feel just guilty enough to want to do something without getting turned off from the message. Good show..." - Jason, Toronto, Canada.

POPSHow to BBQ a Healthier Burger While marinades are best because they cover the whole surface, simply shaking on dried herbs may reap the same health benefits. POPSFolding(Proteins)@home-Distributed Computing
Stanford University is doing valuable protein research spreading the load to thousands of personal computers using unallocated CPU time.It has a low 'status' so all other programs are given priority. I had heard about it but didn't know it was so easy to join. You can be anonymous, have a username, or also be part of a team. where the work done is tallied. I found out about it at the Ubuntu site, so I joined team Ubuntu, but thought there could always be a team clipmarks. I'll leave that with egoldstein, I just joined and have no idea about teams and team numbers. Theres 1 'client' per CPU so dual cores can have 2 (2 teams?) There is a link in the program to show how many proteins have been done. Programs for linux, apple and mac. I don't know about after rebooting. Ubuntu has a script that restarts every reboot Windows may have to run exe again. mac? I can't be sure the username search works from the clip, but if you're interested the top link to Stanford will make a lot more sense

POPS USDA Recalls 143 Million Pounds Of Frozen Beef Two former employees were charged Friday with animal cruelty. No charges have been filed against Westland, but an investigation by federal authorities continues. Officials estimate that about 37 million pounds of the recalled beef went to school programs, but they believe most of the meat probably has already been eaten. There have been no reported illnesses linked to the beef at any of the schools. "We don't know how much product is out there right now. We don't think there is a health hazard, but we do have to take this action," said Dr. Dick Raymond, USDA Undersecretary for Food Safety. Federal regulations call for keeping downed cattle out of the food supply because they may pose a higher risk of contamination from E. coli, salmonella or mad cow disease because they typically wallow in feces and their immune systems are often weak.

POPSDifferent than Mad Cow? I lived in the UK for four years. My daughter was born there. And to this day, we cannot give blood. Because we consumed British beef. Man, some of the comments are pretty harsh. But, I imagine a CIVILIAN AGENCY is at fault here - not a military source. IMHO.

POPSUS on Mad Cow: Don't Test All Cattle Not only has the administration bowed to lobbyist demands that it NOT INSTITUTE comprehensive testing for mad cow disease, but is now using federal power to protect Big Agriculture from competition from Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, a small Kansas company that wants to test all of its own products VOLUNTARILY. It would appear that the GOP is as sincere about "free markets" as they are about the responsible fiscal policy, "small government", the "rule of law", "defending the constitution", "individual liberty", and "spreading democracy".

POPSThe People vs. The War Profiteers- "Soldier is that guts in your ice?"
More (8 pages more, read the article): U.S.-military regulations state that once a trailer has been used to store corpses it can never again be loaded with food or drink intended for human consumption The diseases that may be communicated include aids, hepatitis, tuberculosis, septicemia, meningitis, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, the human variant of mad cow. Bud Conyers next caught sight of trailer R-89, about a month later, packed not with human casualties but with bags of ice—ice that was going into drinks served to American troops. You could still see a little bit of matter from the bodies, stuff that looked kind of pearly, and blood from the stomachs. It hadn't even been hosed down Conyers and Logsdon say that R-89 was not the only truck that was loaded with ice after being used as a mortuary. in 2006 alone, according to Forbes, Halliburton C.E.O. David Lesar collected nearly $30 million in compensation. Halliburton's stock price rose fourfold from $10 to $40.
