POPSPolling Funnies Pay attention to the details, note trends within polls rather than aggregating disparate poll reports, and never forget that every media outlet is selling a story, and every poll is bought by someone for a specific purpose. The election is something far different from any poll

POPSPelosi "The Gavel" --- Controls The Cameras In The House The “most open and ethical House ever” went dark– and C-SPAN and every other media outlet were powerless to broadcast the proceedings of the GOP revolt–because Nancy Pelosi and the Dems didn’t want the public to see and hear the voices of GOP lawmakers on the House floor talking about their energy proposals. Nancy, is this how you advise America’s daughters to use their power? What are you afraid of? Tell Nancy to keep the cameras rolling when our representatives are on the floor. Here’s her blog. http://speaker.house.gov/blog/ Nancy Pelosi, meanwhile, is busy hawking her miserably performing book–currently 1726 on Amazon.com

POPSIran to Israel: "Go Ahead, Make My Day" Attack our facilities and war starts. US Admiral (a stand-in Liar who replaced the resisting and valiant Admiral Fallon, who called Gen Petreus a "chickensh*t" for kissing up to Bush) then lies saying Iran will attack Israel...while Iran has attacked no other country in over 200 years while Israel and the US have attacked many. Listen to this Democracy Now podcast with Seymour Hersh (NY Times) about how Israel cannot attack Iran without US involvement (i.e. American troops on the ground necessary for such operation, dying for Israeli aggression).

POPSThe Hopeless Press Network news shows have been delivering overly negative reports since 2003. This was standard operating procedure, just more horrific than usual. In 2006, 17 network stories drew comparisons with the Great Depression, from U.S. savings rates to climate change.

POPSPuh-leeze, Hillary--Enough with The Woman as Automatic Populist Candidate One cannot count on either Sen. Hillary Clinton or a hypothetical President Hillary Clinton to be a big part of the wave. Aside from the ways her health plan proposes further to enrich Big Insurance—by mandating insurance for all, rather than mandating health care for all—her campaign has been supported chiefly by the financial sector among other corporate interests. There is a big difference between health insurance and health care for all.

POPSBiased coverage? No way!?!? Every election is rife with biased coverage by the main media news outlets; it's just that party heads deny it until it works against them. Whether you believe in the “vast right wing conspiracy” or the “left wing media” scourge, it seems that bias in the machine has indeed played a large role in defeating Hillary.

POPSMcCain: rides company jet, pressures FCC for action Paxson, a media company, tries to buy a media outlet in Pittsburgh, but it gets hung up at FCC. Gives McCain rides on the corporate jet to campaign events. McCain pressures FCC to act; McCain, apparently, sees no wrong in it. FCC chair: "highly unusual."

POPSSibel Edmonds Was Right Sibel Edmonds has spent the last several years trying to raise alarms about a plot by Turkish and Israeli intelligence to gain access to secret US nuclear technology that she uncovered while working as a translator for the FBI in the months after 9/11. Turns out she was right and the evidence is starting to come out.

POPSAnother Fannish Meta-tale Seriously, being part of slash fandom (and media fandom in general) is one of the best things that's happened to me. I've met the best people and it's things like this essay that reaffirm that.

POPSWhat infuriates the US Powers? Oh, horror! Imagine if we eliminated term limits in the US! We could end up stuck with a president -- like Franklin Roosevelt. Worse, if Bill Clinton could have run again, we’d have missed out on the statesmanship of Junior Bush. While US media called Chavez a “tyrant” for suggesting an end to term limits, they somehow forgot to smear the tyrant tag on Mr. Clinton for suggesting the same for the America. We were told by virtually every US news outlet that the referendum was to make Chavez, “President for Life.” The “President for Life” canard was mis-reported by no less than The New York Times. But ending term limits does not mean winning the term. As Chavez himself told me, “It’s up to the people” whether he gets reelected. And that infuriates the US Powers That Be. It’s the Oil. Term limits and work hours in Venezuela? Why was this a crisis for Washington? READ MORE HERE: http://infowars.net/articles/december2007/041207Chavez.htm

POPSNYT & Mitt's Record - movement back to responsible reporting I still feel there needs to be a movement in American Journalism towards more objective reporting. But this is interesting overview of NYT's reporting on Mitt Romney. But it's the same old news isn't it? No real information unless we choose to dig it up ourselves...

POPS News Corp Quells Unrest In Pro-Western Georgia The US and its Coalition allies can ill-afford to ignore this week's developments in the small but geo-strategically significant Caucasus nation of Georgia. Major outside players including Vladimir Putin and Rupert Murdoch are involved in a story involving media and politics. The events in Georgia, including unrest involving some 50,000 people and President Mikhail Saakashvili's crackdown, are not just a political fight between the ruling government and the opposition. It is part of a complex struggle involving the old Russian guard, business oligarchs, and a media outlet in the continuing battle with leftist tyrants masquerading as "progressives." The opposition parties are trying to rearrange political alliances to effectively counter Shaakashvili's National Movement bloc, and are scrambling to find a replacement leader to salvage what turned out to be a politically suicidal week of demonstrations.

POPSEven Harvard Finds The Media Biased Not news to most of us, but it's interesting that another source (like Harvard!) thought it was an important issue to analyze. The sheeple are fed whatever the particular media outlet wants to propagate. Thank you Fox News.

POPSAmerican Hero: Lt. Michael Murphy and Bill O'Reilly Pro USA means kissing ass in order to put a positive spin on Bush total failure as a president and leader. If Fox is so pro military, pro American, maybe they should devout time every night and report on every American casualty, instead of just the Medal Of Honor recipients. Oh, but wait, we can't do that that may make general public uncomfortable. This is just a Fox attempt at pushing forward their agenda utilizing the senseless death of one of many Americans, in exactly the same way they accuse the liberal media of doing. O Reilly is yet another worthless bag of hot conservative air tiring desperately the justify his morally corrupt position.

POPSOfficial Iran Hides Presidents Gay Comments Does this mean that even with the Internet, and 24 hours cable news services, the news can still be manipulated in Iran so that their president's ridiculously ignorant comments can be hidden and ignored, or does it mean that they will do anything conceivable to make gays invisible in their midst? Whaddaya think?

POPS30 DAYS TO DOMESTIC TERROR!
Today a friend emailed me this... He certainly hasn't outlawed all war protest in the USA. That's a direct constitutional violation. He's done some dumbass things, but I doubt he can get away with that. All my friends will be in jail, as will I. They don't have enough jails to hold us all. That would mean total anarchy... I RESPONDED WITH THIS: I thought the same thing... HOW THE HELL COULD HE GET AWAY WITH THAT ONE? Today I Googled the question and got this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Did+Bush+outlaw+all+war+protests&btnG=Google+Search IT'S ALL OVER THE INTERNET BUT NOT ONE WORD MENTIONED ON THE MAIN MEDIA OUTLET... Op-Ed site also says it's true but tells us it will take 30 days until Congress speaks... Since I am not hearing anything from the news... this may slip by us.. I'm going to email the Congress on this one... FOR SURE! Carolyn http://www.opednews.com/articles/3/opedne_alex_wal_070719_30_days_to_absolute_.htm SAW THIS ARTICLE FROM "THE SPOOF". IS IT TRUE????

POPSAngelina Jolie the Media Hypocrite (a mighty heart) Angelina Jolie is being quite the hypocrite while doing press for her new film A Mighty Heart. The film is about slain journalist Daniel Pearl and about freedom of the press. She tried to ban Fox News from the red carpet and the media censorship did not stop there. But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her, and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.Ironically, Wednesday night’s premiere of the excellent Michael Winterbottom-directed film was meant to support an organization called Reporters Without Borders. Jolie, however, did everything she could to clamp down on the press and control it.
