Most of Europe's and Americas e-waste is send off to far away first nations already under extreme strain, and as a result poison those who live and work around our phones and TV's etc. No mandatory recycling demanded by our western leaders. Nanomaterial cleans up flourescent bulbs
pokkets
by pokkets  8-25-2008    1
Household energy saving bulbs are a concern because of the mercury they contain, and the number that are starting to be used today, but another example was the long fluorescent bulbs, which may not burn out or break too often, but are often shipped in bulk to recyclers after a renovation, or demolition. The compact fluorescent bulb use less mercury than incandescent bulbs running on electricity from coal, which releases mercury when burned. The mercury from the CFL bulbs can be recovered.

Japan's Taiiji Dolphin Hunt Protest
papananook
by papananook  8-21-2008    1
This despicable hunt must be stopped, somehow. The Taiji dolphin hunts continue to prosper because the fishermen receive immense profits from selling some of their victims to the captive dolphin industry. The government also gives the fishermen permission to continue the hunt because they consider the dolphins pests who eat too much of the fish stocks around Taiji. Take Action for Dolphins Ask the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums to expel members who accept dolphins from drive fisheries. Information on attending Japan Dolphin Day rallies worldwide on September 3, 2008. Secret Slaughter No Longer Now, a new documentary is in the works which will hopefully alert a greater portion of the public to what is going on in Taiji. Entitled "The Rising," it was filmed secretly by members of the United States conservation group Ocean Preservation Society (OPS) with help from the Save Japan Dolphins coalition. The footage displays the horrible cruelty dolphins are forced to e

e-bullion James Fayed enters not guilty plea in money
tdsmum
by tdsmum  8-18-2008
Well that's that for today. A not guilty plea was entered by James Fayed and he was refused bail They would naturally have seen him as a flight risk After all James Fayed is the estranged husband of Pamela Fayed who was stabbed to death in a Century City parking garage on July 28th. No one has been charged in relation to that murder yet. There are reports Pamela Fayed's slaying happened straight after leaving a meeting with her husband and his attorneys. I've also read in some news items that she was helping the FBI in some way prior to her murder. The federal trial is scheduled to start some time in Sept 08 Meanwhile all over the globe e-bullion members continue to wait to hear any sort of update, from any source on what the hell is happening with the company itself. Longest 4 hours maintenance I've ever seen. Especially when account holders are hit with this image and message day after day. http://www.e-bullion.com <img>http://www.e-bullion.

Global Warming Consensus Rejected By Scientists
merrie
by merrie  8-2-2008
the world continues to cool. That is leading to increasing scepticism that the call to sacrifice living standards in order to "save the planet" is just political spin designed to persuade the public to accept green taxes." Syun-Ichi Akasofu "There are so many times the Earth was warmer than now, or colder than now. We are not affecting the climate change." Lord Nigel Lawson The consensus is breaking down because no matter how much the global warming agenda-setters may want us to be, people are not sheep, to be led around and told what to think and what to say. You can only lie to us for so long before the truth exposes your movement for what it is; a dogma based on faulty science and ulterior motives. We've heard prediction after prediction after prediction about how the polar ice caps were absolutely inevitably going to melt away into nothingness this summer. Of course, they haven't. Not even close. You'd think that would put some humility into these Chicken Littles.

Omega 3 How much and where to get it.
zalisan
by zalisan  7-26-2008
“Older people should absolutely be concerned about mercury in fish,” says Florida neurologist David Perlmutter, M.D., author of The Better Brain Book. “Mercury causes memory loss and other cognitive problems. And there are other ways to get omega-3s besides eating fish.” His recommendation: Take algae-based DHA supplements, available in any health food store. Harvard Medical School cardiologist Dariush Mozaffarian, M.D., who as the author of several major medical studies may be the nation’s most prolific researcher on the health impact of seafood. Mozaffarian says those older than 50 should be worried about mercury only if they’re eating five or more seafood servings a week. “Then, they should have a variety of fish—the majority have low mercury levels—and minimze consumption of high-mercury shark, swordfish, tilefish and King mackerel. Overall, a fish meal is very beneficial.”
