POPSGM says Chevy Volt is on track for 2010 I sure hope they can pull this off. The introduction of a rechargeable electric car has the potential to be a game changer for our economy and global dynamics. I would imagine that the response to this in the market would dwarf that received thus far by hybrids. We are talking about truly revolutionizing one of the most important industries in the world. And don't forget the ripple effect this will have by creating the need to make enormous investments in our national electricity grid.

POPS106 mpg "Air Car" Creates Buzz.. & questions
The concept is similar to how a locomotive works, except compressed air -- not steam -- moves the engine's pistons, said Shiva Vencat, vice president of MDI and CEO of Zero Pollution Motors. Gas still plays a role The six-seater planned for the U.S. market would be able to reach speeds of more than 90 mph and have a range of more than 800 miles thanks to a dual energy engine, Vencat said.. The design calls for one or more tanks of compressed air under the car's floor, as well as a tank holding at least 8 gallons of fuel. Whether the engine uses just air or both air and fuel would depend on how fast the car is going. It would run purely on compressed air at speeds less than 35 mph, Vencat said. Since the car could only go a short distance when using just air, fuel is needed to get the full range, he explained. "Above 35 mph, there is an external combustion system, which is basically a heater that uses a little bit of gasoline or biofuel or ethanol or vegetable oil that wil

POPSA reply to "Electric Cars is it the real answer?" by jt3600 Hybrids and electric cars are just in the developement stages. Sure there are kinks to work out, costs to be brought down, infrastructure to be expanded. The thing is, it is a start toward another way of being, thinking. Change can be revolutionary and evolutionary. But change things must.

POPSInventor of Water Powered Dune Buggy Murdered He was poisoned March 1998..He died in the parking lot of a restaurant in his home town of Grove City, Ohio. Sharks came a week later and stole the the dune buggy and all of his experimental equipment.. He had patents on his invention and was ready for production. Only $1,500 to equip your car! See the Videos above. No gasoline, just water. Stanley said he was offered a billion dollars from an Arab to basically shelf his idea. So what is happening with Stan's Great Invention of the 20th Century!! Absolutely nothing. Are they manufacturing his invention. NO, Why not? because it would solve all the world's problems today. All they talk about is hydrogen gas stations run by Shell and a Canadian Oil Firm. Then they talk all about "hydrogen fuel cells" which take a lifetime of gas burned just to make one fuel cell. A hydrogen fuel cell factory is a real SMOG factory..-- EXCERPTS FROM THE WEB PAGE

POPSWas Jimmy Carter an energy prophet? As I listen to President Bush suggesting that Americans turn down their thermostat and use less gasoline I have to ask myself, Was Jimmy Carter a prophet? Most people don't know it but Jimmy Carter wanted to set a goal of obtaining 20 percent of our energy from solar power by the year 2000.

POPSLoony Left now labels cars' "global warming score" I'm converting my diesel truck to burn used restaurant veggie oil. I'll get around 2000 miles per gallon of diesel used. Will that rate my truck a 1? How about my cows. Shall I stick a sticker on their backsides when I sell them adknowledging their abominable 10 score with their emissions of methane? How can a state indicate causation between the fictional "global warming" and car emissions? There still is no proof there is global warming, and no proof that car exhaust would even cause such an improbably thing. Stand by. Once the loony left gets fully in power you will see horrendous backward leaps that will drastically affect everyone.

POPSThe Future: The Hybrid with a Better Twist It's this kind of technology America needs to turn to on a massive productive scale and perhaps even partly subsidize the production to help keep the costs down for consumers. That would put people to work in good paying jobs, greatly reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and we can tell McCain & Bush that we don't need more offshore oil just offshore wind power so we can charge our cars up at night.

POPSSave a Little Gas Great article with some great tips. The biggest one - DRIVE SLOWER. I have to admit I started doing this and I'm absolutely amazed at how much gas I'm saving. I log one 50-60 mile trip each weekend plus about 10 miles each weekday back and forth to work. With that driving, I'd have to fill up about once a week or week and a half. What did I change? - I set my cruise control to just below 65 MPH when on the freeway. - I go much easier on the accelerator when starting out. - When coming to a stop sign, traffic light, or exit ramp, instead of hitting the gas until I get close and then immediately breaking, I just coast. - Same with pulling into my garage, parking lots, etc. I used to drive pretty aggressively, always flooring it out of a stop to get around people, and driving pretty fast. Now, with these changes, I'm filling up every 2 weeks with the same amount of driving. It's been huge!
