POPSAlternate Iraq War Universe … Obama Won!
Never mind that the surge was initiated by President George Bush, and the current withdrawal was negotiated by the Bush administration with a sovereign, elected Iraqi government which his actions allowed to come into being, in place of the prior despot he had deposed, while Democrats, including Obama, were howling for abandonment. Obama deserves some credit, of course. For staying Bush’s course and throwing his own boneheaded pandering demands for a precipitous pullout under the bus. OK, I thought Friedman had got about as weird as he could. Silly me. This next step is particularly important, which is why we cannot let Afghanistan distract U.S. diplomats from Iraq. Remember: Transform Iraq and it will impact the whole Arab-Muslim world. Change Afghanistan and you just change Afghanistan. Fascinating. The big clamor for the last few years of course has been that Iraq was distracting us from Afghanistan, and now every jackanape out there, to include Friedman . . .

Because I have the TV on in the background when at the computer, I hear a lot of news. But for sanity and decent morality I must hit the mute button 100x's a day; but it's not enough. I gotta get quicker on the trigger. Even something as 100% pure positive as two of your citizens, woman journalist, getting freed from a foreign jail is trashed by our corrosive, toxic news and warped media -- as this clip shows. Right-wing nut job news also needed an angle to disparage this so they fabricated - just started saying something bad behind the scenes had to be offered to NKorea...we had to give up something or make concessions -- all without any need for evidence of this. If they want such a horrid example the "Iran-Contra," scam of Regan's was world-class wrongdoing. The NYPost had the headline: "Bubba Gets the Chicks." The GOP is "out to lunch" as in porch light on-nobody's home. The GOP has not been mentally there, for some time now. Strange how it could hold so many minds captive with its utterly insane propaganda. What is wrong with people? The GOP should have been laughed off the world stage at the beginning of the Bush reign of nincompoopery. But no, people embraced the blunders, starting with the preemptive Invasion of Iraq and the GOP’s cooked intelligence to launch this phony war. Then, the Terri Schiavo debacle when the GOP joined the religious right to interfere in a local matter. Also, The Marriage amendment, the GOP stuck its nose where it doesn't belong. The GOP JUSTICE SUNDAY frenzy, The GOP hurricane KATRINA incompetence The GOP Bush strut on the deck of the USS Abe Lincoln declaring "Mission Accomplished."Insanity all the way. The GOP lives in fantasy but maybe, since people are growing up, the unhinged, hateful world of the GOP might be fading away. But don't hold your breath.

This is why Israel rejected any "cease fire" agreements, even when proposed by Sec'y Rice at the UN. The real reason for the stop is because a huge political mass is now uniting in condemnation against this slaughter of innocents, and because the IDF would start losing soldiers in real eye to eye street fighting in pursuing ONLY HAMAS (the alleged targets of the war), so the cowards are now retreating after employing every robotic means to bomb arbitrary targets into oblivion. Real Headline: ISRAEL RETREATS : Israel is not willing to fight Hamas without employing Mass Destruction. Israel will now hold elections, with "few IDF casualties".

POPSConversation With an Alien With a faint whirring the flying saucer leaped above the roofs, hesitated for a few moments, and then disappeared among the stars, forever. I went back to my vegetarian imitation turkey, suddenly realizing that all the anger and the guilt that had been haunting me all day were gone - replaced with a sense of an accomplished mission. Come to think of it, I just saved a whole alien world from the corruptive American influence!
