POPSRight Christians vs. Wrong Christians Friends, I can't even go on here. Look at my face, see how flushed I am? You get me going on about the Catholics and I'm likely to have a heart attack. I just thank God that everything our youngsters know about the Catholic Church is what they've been hearing on TV. Most of our Truly Saved® Christian children are so terrified of priests that they can't even sleep at night. Let's open our hymnals to page 217 - Just As I Am, singing from the second stanza. . . "Just as I am. . ." Truly Saved® Christians The content of the clip was written by a pastor! *Real* Christians of course have a registered trademark and a $750 million budget. If anyone can spot the teachings of Christ anywhere in this "sermon", would you please point them out to me? I seem to be temporarily blinded by the hypocrisy of it all. But let's open up youtube and have a little sing-a-long, shall we? Praise the Lord. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugZq9hiuCJo

POPS'Cahokia: Ancient America's Great City on the Mississippi' cont (more at source): And this drama was at the heart of a place we now call Cahokia, ancient America's one true city north of Mexico—as large in its day as London— and the political capital of a most unusual Indian nation. At that time all the stars and planets in the Northern Hemisphere's night sky were visible above Cahokia, situated in a broad expanse of Mississippi River bottomland just east of what is now St. Louis, Missouri. Cahokia's people looked to the Morning and Evening stars for guidance and— inspired by ideas from Mesoamerica, possibly brought back from Cahokian rulers' travels or priests' vision quests— incorporated them into a religion that would displace traditions across the American Midwest, South, and Plains.

POPSGaia's evil twin: Is life its own worst enemy? Here is a wrenching change of perspective! Life keeps upsetting its own apple cart, the Medean trap. We humans are just part of this self-destructive life force, yet we are aware of it. Like everything else, planets live and die.

POPSGaia's evil twin: Is life its own worst enemy? Recent interesting research shows that life on earth may have distinct suicidal inclinations. Human destruction of the environment is but the most recent episode. If true it has interesting implication on forming of exobiological theories, and the evolution of civilizations outside our precious planet.

POPSMOTHERS DAY HISTORY FROM THE SITE It is interesting to note that the Mother and Son imagery of Isis and Horus—in which Isis cradles and suckles her son—is strikingly similar to that of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. FROM ME So hiding the baby in the reeds isn't like the story of Moses? It's the first thing I thought of.

POPSAthena - Wisdom of Athena Wisdom of Athena Bright-eyed Athena, who has been called the mind of god, is the goddess of prudent intelligence, her share of wisdom having been given to her by Zeus. She is able to bestow command, skill and courage, and also victory in war for those who revere justice and listen to her persuasive tongue, or destruction for the unjust. For these reasons it has always been desirable to count upon her favour when war is at hand, for Athena, it is said, would never put up with defeat. And yet she checks the insolence of those whose spirit is violent and unjust.

POPSSpirituality the adventure in seeking I have studied many religions, and do not belong to any. I have indeed found tremendous spirituality though. I am open I take what I hear, and if it feels right, if it resonates within my soul then I am inclined to adopt my own version of that train of thinking, I am one of Goddess faith, Mother nature, but I also have faith in say, Christ, whom I feel was a wonderful, loving example of a man I would love to be able to emenate in many ways, but that is perfection, from what I understand, and that ,( since I am human) is impossible. So I say go with your inner voice, your intuitive voice, that calls you, that guides you, if one follows this, I don't think you can fail, as a matter of fact you can't fail. Look at all the beauty around you, the mystery, the miracle of life, the feelings of joy, sadness, the whole human experience, there is something out there( defentley) bigger than us loving, mysterious, and all omnipresent.

POPSpurity of the Goddess This pict. represents to me the Goddess in her most important role, that of the mother, the nurturer, and pure love, with the wanning moon, and a radiant light of green.

POPSJoseph Campbell and the Hero * Woman as Temptress (the subsequent horror--woman now represents the flesh, which must be transcended) * At-one-ment with the Father, who is also "good" (merciful, provident) and "bad" (threatening, terrible)--initiation into the Father's office * Apotheosis--attainment of divine state beyond ignorance: transcendence of oppositions male/female and time/eternity * The Ultimate Boon--immortality (often depicted as inexhaustible matter, e.g., food and drink) = perfect illumination, transcendence of all being 3) Return: benefit to group/human race (selflessness) * Refusal of the Return--again, only a possibility: if the hero wants to remain in the ecstasy of illumination * The Magic Flight (if necessary--i.e., if there is opposition) * Rescue from Without (if necessary) * The Crossing of the Return Threshold--hero must "survive the impact of the world"
