POPSImmortality only 20 years away says scientist No thanks, I don't want to live forever. "Ultimately, nanobots will replace blood cells and do their work thousands of times more effectively. "Within 25 years we will be able to do an Olympic sprint for 15 minutes without taking a breath, or go scuba-diving for four hours without oxygen. "Heart-attack victims – who haven't taken advantage of widely available bionic hearts – will calmly drive to the doctors for a minor operation as their blood bots keep them alive. "Nanotechnology will extend our mental capacities to such an extent we will be able to write books within minutes. "If we want to go into virtual-reality mode, nanobots will shut down brain signals and take us wherever we want to go. Virtual sex will become commonplace. And in our daily lives, hologram like figures will pop in our brain to explain what is happening. "So we can look forward to a world where humans become cyborgs, with artificial limbs and organs."

POPSR.I.P. E. Lynn Harris author of novels about black male sexual identify conflict Photo of E. Lynn Harris at clip source. Mr. Harris clearly tapped a rich vein of reader interest with his racy and sometimes graphic tales of affluent, ambitious, powerful black men ... who nonetheless struggled with their attraction to both men and women. ... “His writing, and his incredible mainstream success, encouraged a league of black gay and lesbian writers to follow in his footsteps,” says Lisa C. Moore, the publisher of the black lesbian publishing house, Redbone Press. “His words helped make black gay life accessible and worthy of open discussion to black readers, gay and straight—something much, much needed in black communities. I am grateful to him for opening those doors. He definitely made a powerful impact on the publishing business for black gay folks.”[/quote}

POPSRabbi Takes Obama to School
In his almost hour-long speech, there is not a single word about Islam’s well known and checkered past. Ironically, the American president offered plenty of references to what he sees are America’s evils, such as its “colonialism” and history of slavery. “For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation,” Obama told his audience, citing a litany of American shortcomings. He failed to mention that Arab Muslims were the greatest slave traders in the history of humanity. Mr. Obama even has the unbelievable gall, when talking about the treatment of Muslim women, to condemn Western countries for attempting to stop Muslim women from using the full facial cover, or hijab. This is a symbol of Muslim subjugation of women. Obama said: “Likewise, it is important for Western countries to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practicing religion as they see fit - for instance, by dictating what clothes a Muslim woman should

POPSPic: Goose flying upside down more: “It looks like this bird is in mid-whiffle,” he said. “When geese come in to land from a great height they partake in a bout of whiffling, this involves the bird twisting and turning to spill air from their wings and thus lowering their speed prior to landing. In 36 years of birdwatching I have seen this many times, particularly when watching pink-footed geese on the north Norfolk coast coming in to roost in the late afternoon and evening. I have, however, never seen a photograph of a bird in mid-whiffle like this. It is an amazing photograph.”

POPSUnpardonable: Holder's Marc Rich's Shuffle ~ by Andrew McCarthy
The AG nominee’s 1995 lawsuit refutes his claims of ignorance about the fugitive. In 2001, when Holder was summoned before Congress, he testified that he hadn’t even known who Rich was back in 1999. That’s when the fugitive’s powerhouse lawyer, former Clinton White House counsel Jack Quinn, beseeched Holder to lean on federal prosecutors who were not inclined to negotiate with the agents of a fugitive. “Mr. Rich’s name was unfamiliar to me,” Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee, under oath, on February 14, 2001. Despite this purported dearth of knowledge, Holder readily acceded to the request that he “facilitate a meeting” at which Quinn could try to persuade “the U.S. Attorney’s office to drop the charges.” Holder’s testimony was rambling and often incredible. But he was consistent on the subject of his own ignorance. But Holder’s protestations of ignorance do not stand scrutiny. When Quinn first came to him in 1999, he knew exactly who Marc Rich was.

POPSBailiff distresses pensioner to death
Within this disturbing episode comes gratification that at least the local media, in the shape of the Lancashire Telegraph, have seen the diabolical fist of officialdom and have investigated and published the incident in full. As just about every inquiry set up by this government has appeared to end as a whitewash, one can only hope that common sense takes hold and the Coroner is forced to change his mind and inquires into the circumstances of this old mans demise. One has to remember that Jack Straw is a lawyer and can word his sentences in such a way that ambiguity in inevitable. When Blair ordered the Hutton inquiry, the legal eagles in Liverpool were in fits of hysterical laughter because the details of that inquiry were so limited that no constructive investigation was possible. Much of the inquiry was public and televised, yet little of what I saw on my television was commented on by Lord Hutton because … “it was outside of the remit”. Lawyers have their legalese language

have resulted in the plane cartwheeling on impact with the water and potentially killing those on board. 'Fantastic job' "By the look of it he's done a fantastic job, the aircraft looks to be in fantastic shape," Mr Jackson said. The successful ditching has energized pilots, many of whom appeared skeptical as to whether it was possible. Pilots also did not train for ditching, both Mr Jackson and Mr Glynn said. "He needed to keep the wings level as much as he could but, given one engine could have had more damage than the other, this would have been difficult," he said. "If a wing had pitched into the water first, the aircraft would have cartwheeled" As it turned out, Mr Sullenberger brought the plane down nose-up with wings level, allowing the tail to break the surface of the water first, Mr Jackson said. In a comment reflective of many of the comments on the online pilot forum, user PPRuNe said: "Remarkable, just proves you can ditch."

POPSObama To Combat “Joe The Plumber” With Average Americans Of His Own ... and Joe Biden starts to knock him around, carping that no real plumber makes $250K. Biden calls Joe the Plumber "the 250 guy," with the plumber now mum on his income. He just says he would like to make that much. The plumber was quoted in the hometown Toledo Blade thusly about Obama's "spread the wealth" cutoff of $250K: "That's a pretty socialist comment. Two-fifty ($250,000) is his number now. When is it going to be one fifty ($150,000), when it's going to be one hundred ($100,000) ?" He's far from the first one to apply the term, of course. Google "socialist" and Obama. You'll be awash in hits. Recently actor Jon Voight wrote this: If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way. http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/joe-the-plumber-2.html

POPSBarrack's Wife: Michelle Obama Plays It Cool.
These people, this campaign, is incredible. I have never seen nor could even have imagined such consistent brillance. The more common reaction would be to toss insults back at McCain and instead she talks about respecting them and how Obama is going to need them! One of Obama's clever message (and I believe it's also sincere) is how Democrats, Republicans and Independents have to work together (appealing to them all), and how there is no 'Red States,' of America, nor 'Blue States,' of America -- but the United States of America (appealing to us all). Even direct enemies are invited in and it is another (I believe sincere) brilliant thing: It disarms the 'enemy,' and is a core of his political philosophy: Work Together: Consensus This has actually worked to soften significant Catholic opposition (due to the abortion issue; most difficult). (/About 56% Catholic opposition would lose the election). How? -- Allow abortions (regrettably) but work to build families; do adapti

POPSBranded: Who You Callin' A Maverick The real Mavericks have an interesting family history. Read the article to learn more. Sam Maverick’s grandson, Fontaine Maury Maverick, was a two-term congressman and a mayor of San Antonio who lost his mayoral re-election bid when conservatives labeled him a Communist. He served in the Roosevelt administration on the Smaller War Plants Corporation and is best known for another coinage. He came up with the term “gobbledygook” in frustration at the convoluted language of bureaucrats Fontaine Maury Maverick lost his bid for re-election in 1938. Notice how the Liepublicans called him a "communist." Notice how their dirty lying tricks haven't changed: Obama - terrorist, socialist, Marxist, black nationalist, and on and on ad naseum.
