POPSPalin & the Dysfunctional Political Class The current GOP seems to look for mediocrity...someone who will *fit*...a person who appears *electable*, a vanilla-type. It seems to stand for everything and yet nothing. Whether Mrs. Palin would make a good Presidential candidate, I don't know. But I'm weary to death of the clandestine people who mouth conservative rhetoric and then fold when the game is on. Give me a candidate who gives me a clear choice; not one who bows to the current political breeze blowing through Washington. I've just about lost all "Hope" because I don't see any on the horizon.

POPSThe Victims of Fort Hood
According to an officer who served with him at Walter Reed Hospital, Hasan spoke approvingly of the shooting of Army recruiters this past summer by a Muslim convert in Little Rock, Arkansas. Authorities also investigated Hasan as long as six months ago for internet postings discussing suicide bombings and other attacks, though they have not yet determined definitively if he was the author of those posts. One of those posts was a blog entry that deified suicide bombers as being similar to soldiers who throw themselves on hand grenades in order to save the lives of their fellow soldiers. A cousin, Nader Hasan, builds a picture of the shooter as a bullied Muslim who was a good person who did not even like weapons, was conflicted about his military service, and was against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But postings that are thought to be Major Hasan’s don’t match the portrait of a soldier who was conflicted. They present us with a picture of someone who housed beliefs that

POPSGallery: It's Alive! Nick & Vanessa Scare Us Back-from-the-dead couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo threw a private Halloween bash (put together with party planner Marley Majcher), which was monstrously successful. At least, at least if the guest list is any indication. Joining Mr. & Mrs. Stein (see above) at their bash were Kate Beckinsale, Tommy Lee, Stacy Keibler, Kara DiGuardi and Wilmer Valderrama. At one point Hilton, who was dressed like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (as was boyfriend Doug Reinhardt), grabbed the microphone and announced to partygoers, "This is the sickest Halloween party in the world, I love you guys!"

POPSSeeing Through The Lies: The Worst Bill Ever It "pays for" about six years of program with a decade of revenue, with the heaviest costs concentrated in the second five years. The House also pretends Medicare payments to doctors will be cut by 21.5% next year and deeper after that, "saving" about $250 billion. ObamaCare will be lucky to cost under $2 trillion over 10 years; it will grow more after that. • Expanding Medicaid, gutting private Medicare. All this is particularly reckless given the unfunded liabilities of Medicare"now north of $37 trillion over 75 years. Mrs. Pelosi wants to steal $426 billion from future Medicare spending to "pay for" universal coverage. While Medicare's price controls on doctors and hospitals are certain to be tightened, the only cut that is a sure thing in practice is gutting Medicare Advantage to the tune of $170 billion. Democrats loathe this program because it gives one of out five seniors private insurance options.

POPSThe EU's New Stealth Tax "But in return Britain would be expected to give up its £4.1billion a year rebate, first agreed by Mrs Thatcher in 1984. Other options being considered include taxes on communications and banks and a carbon tax which would push up the cost of fuel, flights and heating."

POPSScozzafava endorses Owens Well, well, well. And to think, the GOP Party thought she was worth endorsing. Thank you Mrs. Palin (and others) for exposing another Republican (conservative) in name only. I wonder if this is the new Democrat strategy....get their people to run as Republicans. And we're so asleep and/or complacent that conservatives just trust the R after their names. (sigh)

POPSChanging The World "It can start with just a few small steps. Mrs. Parks helped transform a nation by refusing to budge from her seat. Maybe you want to speak up publicly about an important issue, or host a house party, or perhaps arrange a meeting of soon-to-be dismissed employees, or parents at a troubled school. It’s a risk, sure. But the need is great, and that’s how you change the world."

POPSObama Girls Spared Maoist Vaccination Indoctrination Wow. That’s a pretty loaded blog title. Maoist indoctrination? Hmmm. Well, I don’t buy into it being an excuse to declare martial law and enslave the white race. That’s a bit of a stretch. Engineered plague? Only if you buy into the martial law and enslavement thing, yeah I can see you believing this one too. But what really bites me is this swine flu vaccination is being shoved down our throat, and up our noses, under the guise of a national emergency while not nearly as many people have died from H1N1 as have those who get the regular flu every year and the Obama kids are not even going to be vaccinated. What’s up with that Mr. and Mrs. Obama? A money making scam for Big Pharma? Now this is a conspiracy I can sink my teeth into.

POPSMother of 'honour killing' girl turns on husband in courtroom confrontation Mrs Goren, speaking through a Turkish interpreter, also told the jury: 'After Tulay went missing, he attempted to beat me up a few times.' She said she repeatedly confronted her husband about her daughter's disappearance, increasingly so since her younger daughter was killed in a car crash in 2006. 'I was saying it to his face openly, frankly. I was saying to him, "You swallowed Tulay". I was saying, "She is alive, in your tummy". I kept saying it,' Mrs Goren told the court. 'During the last few years I started saying it more. Since I lost Hatice I started saying it even more.' Mehmet, 49, of Woodford Green, north east London, together with Cuma Goren, 42, of Walthamstow, east London, and Ali Goren, 56, also of Walthamstow, deny murdering her on January 7 1999. They also deny conspiracy to murder her boyfriend Halil Unal between May 1998 and February 1999.

POPSSouth Carolina pardons black brothers convicted of 1913 killing Police initially focused on Mrs Davis and her husband Bart, who were arrested with packed suitcases which included a bloodied pair of trousers. But investigators' attention shifted when Mr Lewis's stolen pistol was traced to John "Monk" Stevenson, a small-time criminal who said he had been given the gun by Bart Davis's brother. He claimed he was only a lookout when Lewis was killed. However, in a plea deal that spared his life, Stevenson – who was also black – changed his story and named the Griffin brothers as the killers and testified against them. According to sworn statements from fellow inmates, Stevenson admitted in jail that the men he implicated knew nothing of the crime. He said that the Griffins "could afford a lawyer and beat the rap". The brothers were the owners of a 138-acre farm, making them probably the wealthiest blacks in the area. All of the land was sold to pay their legal fees and court costs.

POPSWTF? Grandmother Jenny Chapman snores louder than a low flying jet Around 75 per cent of the UK population are believed to be snorers with the condition most prevalent in middle-aged men. The exact cause is known but too much food or alcohol, and problems with the nasal passage and soft palate at the back of the throat are thought to have an effect.

POPSPoll: Obama Personal Popularity at New Low Gallup points out that in this latest survey, Hillary Clinton is now more popular than Obama. Sixty-two percent say they have a favorable impression of the Secretary of State, versus 34 percent who have an unfavorable impression. That's a big change from the height of the battle for the Democratic nomination last year; in February 2008, just 48 percent had a favorable impression of Mrs. Clinton, versus 49 percent who had an unfavorable impression.
