POPSA Way out of the Fundamentalist Divide Last week Jim Wallis, Sojourners founder and contributing editor, wrote about the importance of funding the common ground as the only hope for navigating a constructive path out of the chasm created by opposing fundamentalist positions. Reading about the bill in one of the great social chasms of our time, it is clear to see that common ground is key.

POPSWhy I Turned Down O’Reilly
Another person finally understands how truly dangerous Bill O’Reilly has become. From the clip: “O'Reilly had the opportunity to apologize for his words, and he didn't. He had the opportunity to say that this tragic outcome was something about which he felt sorry. He didn't. When restraint and perspective were called for, he fanned the flames higher.” Before everyone jumps on me as someone who would suppress O’Reilly’s right to say what he wants, please note that I did not say he should not be allowed to exercise his right to free speech. However, I find it very disturbing that advertisers feel a perverse connection to this thug, this hate monger. Sure, I know they advertise on his program because he has such a large audience and money means more to them than their conscience. And how can this pig have such a large audience? Statistically, no matter where I go in public there will be at least a few of these like-minded people around me. Now that is what I call terrorism.

POPSSouter With A Salsa Beat?
Now, some abortion rights advocates are quietly expressing unease that Judge Sotomayor may not be a reliable vote to uphold Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 abortion rights decision. In a letter, Nancy Keenan, president of Naral Pro-Choice America, urged supporters to press senators to demand that Judge Sotomayor reveal her views on privacy rights before any confirmation vote. “Everyone is just assuming that because Obama appointed her, she must be a die-hard pro-choice activist,” Mr. Waldman said, “but it’s really quite amazing how little we know about her views on abortion.” Given who is making the appointment and who has the Senate majority, we could do a lot worse, and if she doesn’t go full Souter, there is the potential that she could go reverse Souter-lite, flirting with the right on this issue or that. What if Obama’s rhumba with Hispanics to solidify the Dems’ gains in that growing electorate goes badly wrong for his already increasingly disaffected lefty base?

POPSPro-abortionist to head the HHS Hippocratic Oath I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgement, and I will do no harm or injustice to them.I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgement, and I will do no harm or injustice to them. I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion. In purity and according to divine law will I carry out my life and my art.

POPSObama's Misleading, Confusing Abortion Rights Ads Obama’s new radio ad tells voters McCain “will make abortion illegal” is airing widely in at least seven swing states. Kate Michelman, an informal Obama adviser who is the former president of the abortion-rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America, said she expected the campaign to expand its appeal to women on issues of abortion rights. “This is a door opened to a longer campaign and strategic effort to ensure that women know the truth about John McCain and Gov. Palin,” she said, suggesting it would come “on the radio, in the mail, on the phones, and in the organizing on the ground.” Though the campaign says the ad was released before Palin was chosen, Michelman said her selection, and her strong anti-abortion stance, would drive the issue closer to the center of the race. “By his nomination of Gov. Palin, McCain has made his opposition to a woman’s right to decide a major campaign issue,” she said.

POPSJoe Biden's Record On The Issues Biden on Fiscal Policy: Biden's ratings from Citizens Against Government Waste from 2001-2005 were as follows: 15%, 0%, 33%, 21%, 17%. Biden's ratings from Club for Growth were 1% in 2006 and 17% in 2007. Biden on the Right to Life: The National Right to Life Committee rated Joe Biden 0% over the 2001-2002 and 2005-2006 terms. The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) has been much more generous. Biden racked up solid 100% ratings from NARAL in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

POPSYou May Be A Racist If You...........
If you're appalled that Obama voted against treating infants born after an abortion attempt the same medically as other infants born alive you... If you were proud of your country even before Obama's candidacy you If you oppose racial preferences in employment, school admissions and contracting you... If you think "we are the change we've been waiting for" is a line from a Monty Python skit you... If your grandmother isn't a "typical white person" you... If you're not sure invading Pakistan is a particularly good idea—what with their nuclear weapons and all— you... The tendency of Obama supporters to see racist impulses behind every criticism of their candidate has evolved into absurdity. Now even the first black president feels compelled to declare he's not a racist. By this measure, nearly every American is at risk of being branded a racist at some point in the campaign. To assess whether you're at risk just consult the list below ( apologies to Jeff Foxworthy

POPSAbortion and the Earth Well written article for all sides and sexes. (Though it irks me that women allow men to give them their way of thinking.)
