Part 2 The Marijuana Trick
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  10-21-2009    1
In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since. Congress banned hemp because it was said to be the most violence-causing drug known. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for 31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism, Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so much that soldiers would not want to fight. Read MORE at source..........

Pot Legalization Gains Momentum In California
Spiritualmonkey
by Spiritualmonkey  10-8-2009    3
More: But some legal scholars and policy analysts say the government will not be able to require California to help in enforcing the federal marijuana ban if the state legalizes the drug. Without assistance from the state's legions of narcotics officers, they say, federal agents could do little to curb marijuana in California. "Even though that federal ban is still in place and the federal government can enforce it, it doesn't mean the states have to follow suit," said Robert Mikos, a Vanderbilt University law professor who recently published a paper about the issue. Nothing can stop federal anti-drug agents from making marijuana arrests, even if Californians legalize pot, he said. However, the U.S. government cannot pass a law requiring local and state police, sheriff's departments or state narcotics enforcers to help. That is significant, because nearly all arrests for marijuana crimes are made at the state level. (Emph. mine)

Afghanistan Metrics Revealed
merrie
by merrie  9-18-2009
The metrics span just about every conceivable issue, including progress towards Pakistan's civilian government and judicial system becoming stable, to support for human rights, to public perceptions of security, to volume and value of narcotics. What does it mean? Republicans aren't happy -- Rogin has that story, too, including this classic quote from McCain: For example, the document lists as one Afghanistan metric "support from allies." "It's like that old joke ‘How's your wife?" McCain quipped. "Compared to what?" Spencer Ackerman lays out the metrics in detail, and notes that they do not compare favorably with the metrics Congress produced for Iraq in 2006. Trying to track down a Kagan to get some additional context and will update as soon as I do. Posted by Michael Goldfarb

marijuana drug rehab
mandragore
by mandragore  8-6-2009
Marijuana is the most favored and glorified drug of all the illegal narcotics that are being abused in our society. It continues to be a drug of entry for many Americans. Reports indicate that the marijuana available today can be five times more potent than the marijuana of the 1970s and that teenagers can often obtain marijuana more easily than alcohol.

Jamie Lee Curtis on Michael Jackson
foxyarse
by foxyarse  7-21-2009
"The explanation is that this moment was the drug start point that eventually took over his life. I don't believe it. The pain he suffered was from his birth, from his being and becoming the commodity that then made him the omnipotent King of the Pop-Goes-The-Weasel-Jacko-In-The-Neverland-Box that destroyed him. Few children, put into the intense focus of their precious youth being marketed for other's pleasure, come out unscathed and with any sense of mental balance. I won't name names but we all know who they are as they have navigated their fame and falls on the covers of magazines and at the top of news hours. Rarely are the parents really held accountable for the fragile, destroyed youths as many of the young people get the F*&^% away as fast as their agents and lawyers get them... but the imprint is there, it cannot be undone without a painful process of self discovery and as we know... pain needs to be killed... not tolerated and examined. I believe Mr. Jackson was in pain."

Jose, Maximo Colon Turn Tables On NYPD With Videotape
ratilfar
by ratilfar  6-14-2009    4
On May 13, another NYPD officer was arrested for plotting to invade a Manhattan apartment where he hoped to steal $900,000 in drug money. In another pending case, prosecutors in Brooklyn say officers were caught in a 2007 sting using seized drugs to reward a snitch for information. And in the Bronx, prosecutors have charged a detective with lying about a drug bust captured on a surveillance tape that contradicts her story. Elsewhere, Philadelphia prosecutors dismissed more than a dozen drug and gun charges against a man last month when a narcotics officer was accused of making up information on search warrants.
