POPSRepublicans Need to Dump the Neoconservatives The republicans need a "tea party" within their own camp! The Bush and present GOP "conservatives" are pushing big government Statism as much as Democrats, with only a different slant. Wars for democracy are a key element of both parties now. There is an insidious philosophy underlying this acceptance of the "natural" growth of statism. Neoconservative columnist David Brooks wrote ... we need "a vigorous One Nation Conservatism ... by making the nation great, individuals are able to join their narrow concerns to a larger national project." Actually, it was originally the Democrats that used to believe in curtailing the powers of the Federal government. (This was after the Civil War where they were called Dixie-crats). POPSWatch out for the trolls, but don't take your eye off of the road Trollstigen is closed during the fall and winter months. A normal opening season stretches from the middle of May to October, but may sometimes be shorter or longer due to changes in the weather conditions, or unexpected trolls of course. In the summer of 2005 the road was repaired and about 16 million NOK was spent on protection against rockfall, making the road a lot safer to drive on....that is unless you aren't watching closely......for the trolls.....bwahahahahahaha......

POPSRadical Islamist to Lead Unprecedented March Mr Griffin also hailed the development, saying, "this move by the Pak.. I mean the radical Islamists demonstrates that the BNP is now the right choice for Britain's idiots. We stand now as a mainstream Party, offering the opportunity of quality multicultural unfairness to all Britain's morons. As part of the move the BNP's Constitution is to be reviewed to bring it more in line with the teachings of radical Islam. References to 'ragheads' and other potentially Islamic slights are to be removed, with greater emphasis placed instead on the disempowerment of woman. However, both men said they were in agreement that any bits about being Jewish could stay in place. Reports that the cleric intends to stand for Parliament remain unconfirmed.

POPSA woolly weatherworm The woolly bear caterpillar also has a habit of curling up into a ball and remaining motionless when it is disturbed or encounters danger. In some cultures this behavior has metamorphosed the word “caterpillar” from a noun into a verb, as in, “He caterpillared when he was given a difficult assignment.”

POPSForget About Gay Marriage...Apparently, We Still Haven't Settled Inter-racial Marriage
On the marriage front, the actions of the judiciary this past week were a mixed bag. In San Francisco, U.S. Dist. Judge Vaughn Walker refused to dismiss a challenge by marriage rights proponents to California's Prop 8, which limits marriage in the state to a union between a man and a woman. This came as welcome news to California's marriage law proponents whose state law challenges to Prop. 8 proved unsuccessful before the California Supreme Court. Ironically, on the very page where this story was reported online, a link appeared, stating that an interracial couple was denied a marriage license in LA. Both articles are worth reading, but the article about the LA case contains quotes by the judge who denied the marriage license. These quotes are shocking in their narrow-mindedness and reek of the same bigotry that the U.S. Supreme Court supposedly put to rest when it outlawed bans against interracial marriage in Loving v. Virginia. I am dismayed by the ability of the

POPSJapan limited sealanes at behest of U.S. Official U.S. telegrams from the 1970s also hint that U.S. pressure influenced Japan's decision to narrow its territorial waters. Inability to use these key straits "could increase significantly the time required to introduce, reinforce, and support logistically U.S. Forces committed in the execution of contingency and other operation plans," the document said.

POPSAmazing Rice Terraces Upon seeing these stunning images of rice terraces in Southeast Asia and China, one could think that rice is actually only the byproduct of a bigger project: landscape art. The technique of rice farming and the work today is done pretty much the way it was millennia ago – one reason why most of the amazing rice terraces are still intact. Rice farming is also backbreaking work, as most of the narrow paddies can only be farmed by hand, like they were millennia ago. No wonder then that the younger generation is more drawn to jobs in the hospitality industry, or moves away...

POPSEast Bay hospice facility draws praise from loved ones, dying patients
More: Patients may spend weeks, days or only hours here while doctors and a staff of nurses and aides control their pain or agitation, social workers counsel and chaplains guide. Since it opened in 2004, more than 1,400 people have died here… Family members frequently return, often on anniversaries, to walk or sit in the yard. "The families are just so thankful. They feel so grateful. The pain is being handled. They can kind of, not enjoy the process of death, but the stress is taken off," nurse Joy Favaedi said, as two of Butkus' grandchildren played in the living room. "It's a sad place, but such a positive place." …Advocates for hospice — which focuses on comfort in the last six months of life, normally at home — view the political debate as a reflection of cultural reticence to accept death or recognize a downside to persistent life-extending measures. Places like Bruns House fill a need for acute hospice care in a homelike setting…

POPSDocumentary - The Boy Who Sees Without Eyes An amazing story I was reminded of when I saw another one like it recently. So accurate is his technique that he is even able to go rollerblading on the street, negotiating narrow gaps between parked cars that even sighted children might find challenging. In fact, Ben’s mother, Aquanetta, inds that her son is far more attentive to the dangers of the road than his friends, always the first to move onto the pavement when a car approaches. Ben first noticed his talent at the age of seven, when at summer camp. While it began as just a habit, Ben explains, he soon realised that it had potential benefits for navigation. He began to practise every day and developed the system to the point it is at today. It is the fact that Ben is entirely self-taught that is perhaps most astonishing and has led people to use the term ‘genius’ when referring to the boy. (Excerpt from demand.five.tv)

POPS"a bitterness has infected our politics that has weakened our country..." Some excellent commentary by Joe Scarborough, including a fresh, non-partisan perspective on President Obama’s attempt to get the Olympic games in Chicago. I hope/believe that those who follow this approach to politics and partisanship will emerge as the powerful class in Congress. I fully understand that right now those who talk loudest and criticize most harshly get the spotlight. But i think most Americans are pretty tired of it and desensitized to it. It seems to me that most people are looking for leaders who will vigorously and rationally debate the issues - but do so in a way that shows that country comes before party.

POPSReform Health care doesn't need to be reformed. The tax code, yes, allow people to purchase their own health insurance. Tort law, yes, reform it so doctors don't have to practice defensive medicine.

POPSObama = Failure I never had any doubts about Obama being a failure. His deeds then results are showing the world what a failure this guy is. I don't want to see America like this. I want to see America flourish. But we were out numbered in the last election.
