POPSA Cardiac Arrest And A Better Doctor "When I first encountered Mrs. Cheever, she was near death, unconscious, gray skin, gray hair, gray eyes. I had considered it cruel to be resuscitating this 89-year-old. Seeing her now, conversing and alert, with hopes for the future, was a lesson more powerful than any I could ever have found in a book or lecture. From that point on, I no longer considered a patient's age as a determinant of the care they should receive. Instead, my newly acquired reverence for elderly patients became a steady source of joy and pride that has lasted throughout my career."

POPSThe Paranormal some organisations such as the United States National Science Foundation have stated that mainstream science does not support paranormal beliefs. Perhaps that's one of the reasons Scientists are surprised so often

POPS"My First-Hand Experience with Gov't Spies" America's new government, including the states, in action: Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and the ACLU, we now know that "Lucy" was only one part of a vast, insidious project. The Maryland State Police's Department of Homeland Security devoted near 300 hours and thousands of taxpayer dollars from 2005 and 2006 to harassing people whose only crime was dissenting on the question of the war in Iraq and Maryland's use of death row.

POPSSomewhere I have Never Traveled Another favorite Poet of mine E.E. Cummings. He is so unconventional! But I think he is one of the most modern love poets of our time. Look at the first line; is Cummings trying to be individualistic or is he so overwhelmed with his feelings of love that all the words and the comma run together? I think he using different forms of punctuation to let us get inside his mind at an attempt to feel what he is feeling. I love this poem :)

POPSPlease Don't Take Your Own Life Hell does exist and very few people get to come back and tell the truth of it's dire reality. If you have problems and you think suicide is the only way out. Find somebody to share your problem. There are people who care, who are willing to help and will listen. A person entered into my life contemplating suicide. When I told them of the reality of heaven and hell they told me that they had been made to feel unworthy. This person is coming to know that they are worthy and are loved by me and G-d. There is always somebody there to help you, and don't worry if you can't find them, G-d will send them to you. So please, don't take your own life. Leave your life to the Lord and trust in Him to bring somebody or guide you to somebody who will help you find a way.

POPSNear Death Experience This is a clear and accessible article by an anaethetist. Interestingly, as with all clear thinkers, he has no interest in excluding alternative explanations.

POPSResearcher induces out-of-body experiences A Swedish neuroscientist today announced that he has reproduced the out-of-body experience often reported by stroke victims, epileptics, drug users and those who have been through near death experiences. H. Henrik Ehrsson's experiment sheds light on how people are able to experience phantom pains in missing limbs, for example. Link to latest story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6960612.stm The consequences of that disembodiment would be catastrophic. "If the distinction fails, the animal might try to feed on itself and will not be able to plan actions that involve both body parts and external objects," Ehrsson told the BBC several years ago (link here is to that story). Using a virtual reality headset and camera, Ehrsson in his most recent experiment, published by the journal Science, today, caused 12 test subjects to view their own bodies as someone else's.

POPSSneezing: A Symptom or A Symbol According to the Dalai Lama, Buddhist teachings inform us that people can attain low-level near-death awareness and "clear light" by sneezing. It is the Buddhists aim to pass through every transition with lucid awareness, the ultimate goal being to die lucidly. The same "clear light" experience occurs with yawning, falling asleep, and orgasm. Sneezing is sometimes referred to as the orgasm of the nose and it is quite a popular sexual fetish.

POPSThe Day I Died I'm going to be thinking about this all day! This was incredibly interesting! If the whole concept of consciousness after death interests you, you should watch this video. If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, watch the last half hour or at least the last 15 minutes It's absolutely fascinating!
