The Neocon Welfare State
thecl
by thecl  7-12-2011
When most people think of neoconservatism, they think of foreign policy. More specifically, they define neocons by their insistence on "Hard Wilsonian," might makes right desire for aggressive war. But neoconservatism is a total package, and they know that Big Government abroad requires Big Government at home. So it shouldn't surprise anyone that neoconservatives are also strong backers of the welfare state.

Al Jazeera's Egypt coverage embarrasses U.S. cable news channels
brightlight4
by brightlight4  1-30-2011
Fox, CNN and MSNBC are all acquitting themselves better than they did the day Tunisia's government collapsed. All of them have reporters in Cairo, and are airing footage of the demonstrations on the streets. But none of them are reporting on the situation as compellingly as Al Jazeera English, which has reporters across the country. CNN, to its credit, is using coverage from the grown-ups at CNN International. MSNBC had Dan Senor (council on foreign relations) reporting from Davos. Yes, liberal MSNBC was getting live analysis from a neoconservative former spokesperson for the occupying U.S. government in Iraq. Fox just had former U.N. Ambassador and ultra-hawk John Bolton on to warn us about the Muslim Brotherhood. Al Jazeera had an opposition party leader on the phone.

Religion and Islam in America
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  8-26-2010
I can’t help but believe that all the hate and bigotry that has taken hold of our country stems from all the years the so called “neoconservative ideologues” have been in power. Unfortunately, their power did not end with the election of Barack Obama. They are as strong as ever within the Libertarian movement with an offshoot dubbed "Tea Party". This time they are able to use ignorance as a power source, something that dictators have used for as long as time has been recorded. This brings me back to how elated I am not to be religious. I don’t carry the burden of MY RELIGION IS BETTER THAN YOUR RELIGION. Since I don’t have a religion, I am free to see them all equally. Yes, they really are all equal when their purpose is to help people live a better life. But if they indoctrinate people to HATE one another, they are destructive and a blight towards the achievement of peace. MORE HERE: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/americanislam.html

Kelly-Gate, Iraq-Gate Part III: Who Killed Dr. Kelly?
blueridge
by blueridge  8-18-2010    1
The answer will point to the ruthless who had "motive, means, and opportunity" to do so, which points to the same cabal behind Plame-Gate (who "took out" CIA operative Valerie Plame as blow-back for her husband Ambassador Wilson's NY Times editorial destroying the neoconservative-driven propaganda about uranium for WMD from Niger by Iraq), i.e. the same Neocon-Israeli alliance and Office of Special Plans that sold the Iraq war to the American public through their gullible puppet-President George W. Bush (and to Brits by PM Tony Blair) after that "catalyzing event" --that they had also written about in their Project for New American Century "blueprint" one year previously--on Sept. 11, 2001 , by Words of Mass Deception , who were hell-bent on "fixing the intelligence around the policy" (see Downing Street Memos) to go to war--whom Dr. Kelly contradicted!

The Israel debate and the failure of J Street
ratilfar
by ratilfar  8-6-2010    2
J Street, which launched in April 2008 to great fanfare under the helm of Jeremy Ben-Ami, a former advisor to President Bill Clinton, was founded in part to "ensure a broad debate on Israel and the Middle East in national politics and the American Jewish community." That debate has largely been dominated by unquestioning supporters of Israel and all its actions. But despite the hysterical rhetoric from the likes of Alan Dershowitz and Commentary magazine, who like to claim that J Street is agitating for radical policy change, the new group has done little to broaden the constricted U.S. debate over Israel/Palestine.

Neocons on Wikileaks: Civilian Deaths No Big Deal--Not News
blueridge
by blueridge  7-31-2010    2
Writing from a new neoconservative propaganda group called (oh so appropriately) "Shadow Government", Rabbi Dov Zakheim ironically claims that Wikileaks "changes nothing" about justification for war, or the massive civilian "collateral damage", while conservatives and the Zionist media (which supports U.S. wars in the middle east) has been taking the founder of Wikileaks to task, and the Pentagon on a "man hunt" for him, for his controversial methods of protected source leaks of classified military documents to shed light on war crimes and atrocities that would otherwise never see the light of day or a page in the MSM. Actually, now even the neoconservatives can be quoted, to prove, according to Zakheim, that the information exposed is really nothing to worry about as far as being "dangerous" to U.S. military operations (because its at least 7 months old information). So which is it Zakheim? No big deal, or a big enough deal for you to have to write about?

The Left Embraces the Shock Doctrine
merrie
by merrie  6-4-2010    1
“don’t let a good crisis go to waste” power grab. And now Arianna Huffington, the founder of the left-wing bulletin board HuffingtonPost, makes the same point in a public radio appearance. On KCRW’s “Left, Right, and Center,” November 21 (at about 27:20 in the podcast), she declared: “A crisis is a terrible thing to waste. So . . . Emanuel. Krugman. Huffington. They’re all rallying around the theme that, well, that a left-liberal government should use this crisis to implement a more sweeping agenda than it could achieve in the absence of crisis. That’s the Shock Doctrine. Where are Naomi Klein and her legion of fans to expose and denounce it? Of course, Klein might well decry their corporatist, big government/big business plans as just another example of Friedmanite/neoconservative/Pinochetist right-wing ideology. Anything other than local worker’s collectives smells like capitalism to her. by Posted by David Boaz http://bit.ly/9mssHA http://www.cato-at-liberty.org

Barack W. Bush--Obama's "Preventive War" in Afghanistan, Neocons Applaud
blueridge
by blueridge  12-2-2009    4
Obushma's Afghanistan war policy--the BUSH DOCTRINE CONTINUES. The word "terrorism" was hardly invoked, but "essential for our national interests....and attacks on our HOMELAND" implied the same thing. It's still all about the 9/11, and only the rhetoric has changed slightly. But this war is not about "national interests", but International (Globalist) interests. Obama is a Puppet for the globalist agenda as much as Bush was to the neoconservative agenda for "global hegemony". See Rachel Maddow's MSNBC video analysis about Obama's Nobel Peace Prize and proof that the Bush Doctrine continues. Powerful analysis. The real purpose of Af-Pak war policy is here .

Republicans Need to Dump the Neoconservatives
blueridge
by blueridge  11-3-2009    1
The republicans need a "tea party" within their own camp! The Bush and present GOP "conservatives" are pushing big government Statism as much as Democrats, with only a different slant. Wars for democracy are a key element of both parties now. There is an insidious philosophy underlying this acceptance of the "natural" growth of statism. Neoconservative columnist David Brooks wrote ... we need "a vigorous One Nation Conservatism ... by making the nation great, individuals are able to join their narrow concerns to a larger national project." Actually, it was originally the Democrats that used to believe in curtailing the powers of the Federal government. (This was after the Civil War where they were called Dixie-crats). Gaffney Tells Reagan "Your Father Would Be Ashamed Of You" (VIDEO)
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-23-2009    1
In June, Gaffney wrote a column insisting that President Obama might really be a Muslim. In March, Gaffney argued that "evidence" exists connecting Saddam Hussein to 9/11, the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, and the Oklahoma City bombing. Last September, Gaffney argued that Sarah Palin has learned foreign policy through "osmosis," by living in Alaska. He's argued that U.S. forces really did find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but the media covered it up. He's used made-up quotes and recommended "hanging" Democratic officials critical of the Bush administration's Iraq policy. He even believes there's "evidence" to support the "Birthers," and once recommended a military strike on Al Jazeera headquarters. ------ In other words a man with no shame invokes the specter of another man dead father to attack him. Classy!

What's with all the zombies?
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-10-2009
Call me a zombie pundit, but I agree with "World War Z" author Max Brooks' suggestion that the concurrent rise of zombie pop and political cultures is no coincidence. "Zombies are an apocalyptic threat, we are living in times of apocalyptic anxiety (and) we need a vessel in which to coalesce those anxieties," he says. In fact, I'll go out on a severed limb and take it further: If zombies specifically represent the apocalyptic downsides of immortalized mindlessness, then today’s zombie zeitgeist is not merely a result of scary quandaries created by stupidity. It is a reaction to both those problems and the sense that they can never be thwarted. Here we are, a year after a financial implosion that should have driven a stake in the heart of free market fundamentalism. Here we are, a year after an election that was supposed to pour holy water on Wall Street vampires, exorcise the economy's demons and challenge the ancient mummies of neoconservative foreign policy. Yet here we are,

Germany Hit With "al-Qaida" Pre-election Propaganda
blueridge
by blueridge  9-22-2009    2
Watch for a false-flag event in Germany if Merkel loses ( remember Spain's 3-11 here for backing out of Iraq), which this propaganda is actually designed to help by inciting fear of terrorism and pushing necessary war , by manufacturing an Islamist enemy (beardless youth in suit and tie for the first time) with a domestic terrorism threat in a timely presentation-- all pushed by the government and media , instead of censored! Just who does this propaganda benefit the most? In fact, the "powers that be" do want people to remember Madrid's 3/11, "vote for Merkel, or else". Note the issue is AFGHANISTAN, German people now largely opposing their war presence there (just as a majority in the U.S. and UK does). This is typical FEAR propaganda that always preceded Bush and Congressional elections, allegedly from Bin Laden or Al Qaeda, but always stoking war fever for the neoconservative-Israeli agenda.

The Neoconservative Resurgency With Obama--Neoconservativism 2.0
blueridge
by blueridge  9-19-2009    1
Well documented article worth reading entirely. Then there is this article too : That must be the meaning of change. The goal was not to restore the rule of law and constitutional legitimacy, but to transcend the Bush administration's cowboy unilateralism and tactfully reassert a neo-conservative normalcy in America's foreign policy. And this more recent article: ‘No change from Bush to Obama', say Neocons and Liberals 16 Sep 2009 American foreign policy under Barack Obama has not changed course after the Bush years, according to a group of prominent commentators from both sides of the political divide. (except for the breaking missile shield policy)...from a UK media source. Yet the U.S. Media are absolutely silent.
