POPSRecording Industry Decries AM-FM Broadcasting as 'A Form of Piracy' I'm sick of this word "Piracy". It's connotations of "stealing" as the RIAA likes to marry to the former. If I steal something I have deprived you of something as in stealing a car deprives you of said car. Theft of the material and tangible. But taking something that can be infinitely copied; seems brazen to call that stealing. The idea that the loss of "potential" profits doesn't stand with me either. To me that's just a way of saying "We have plenty, but we want even more." I'm fortunate that many of my favorite musicians have left this model behind (NIN, Radiohead to name two) and have taken the stance that music is meant to be heard and not hoarded.

POPS|\| | |/| - Trent Reznor to fans: "Thank you" I'm sure you've heard of this by now... but have you heard it yet? I've been listening to the FLAC version since Monday. &All I could possibly say is wow! . . . no *uberWow*. 'theslip' is nine inch nails latest album. But unlike 'Ghost ' nin's last four digital albums, which Trent Reznor also released online. Where as Ghost gave you the option to pay; theslip is only available for free. Than with theslip you also get all of the cover art, inserts, &etc with the downloads. Which after you download, you can do literally anything with. I'm already playing around w/remixing portions of track 7 & 9. They're my two personal faves, for the moment at least. The last difference between Ghost &theslip is the where as Ghost were only instrumentals/digital. theslip is just as lyrically intense as nin's previous halo albums. So, as always, take a few minutes or hours, depending on your bandwidth, than, what else? enjoy yourself!

POPSAnaïs Nin From being a cult figure of the early feminist movement, Anais later rose to international prominence with her writing. She is best known for her diaries but also produced a number of novels and a prose poem in surrealistic style as well as wonderful erotic short stories, published posthumously. Characterized by the use of powerful and, at times, disquieting imagery, her work reveals great sensitivity and perception. In 1973 she received an honorary doctorate from Philadelphia College of Art. She was elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1974.<<

POPSHurt (2 versions) There is another version, by Kermit the Frog, however I did not want to clip it as I am pretty sure people would see it as too offensive. Those who still wish to view it just look up Kermit Hurt, or sadkermit.com just a heads up, it is definitely not for kids!

POPSNIN To Fans: Steal Music In response to high CD prices, Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor offered advice to his Australian fans while performing at a Sydney concert in this YouTube video. "Steal it. Steal away. Give it to your friends," said Reznor.

POPSSome Music News YAY! I love Lostprophets! However, I think that 30seconds to mars should have recieved best album and/or international band (not a fan of My Chem Romance) Judas Priest and NIN deserved the awknoledgements. This awards show seems much more...'fair'? than the US award shows which award the worst music! I wish I could have seen the show.

POPSTrent Reznor: No Wonder People "Steal" Music I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I'll probably buy a NIN album during my next music binge simply to "give to those who give back." While I don't dl commercial music, I dl more than my share of concerts at places like EZ. Bands that give support to their fans in doing this get some great publicity and play. Hard to understand why so few "artists" understand this.
